I'm 32 and have a good and steady income and still shoegoo the crap out of my shoes! Why buy new shoes after 2 weeks when I can use them for 1 month!
Thanks for the vid already ordered it thanks man. I like sk8
Enjoy!!!
Before I even lace my new shoes, I use Marine Goop that's made for plumbing. Same company makes Shoe Goo
Sick
i had to learn like last year it got forbidden in my country due to toxic ingredients or sthg like that :( loved it to extend the life of my skate shoes in my youth :/
Wow what country?
@@rickyglaser Germany
@@gh0ul666 Ich nehme die "Langlauf Schuhreparatur Paste" gibt's bei Amazon. Funktioniert genauso. Zusätzlich sind in der Paste noch feine Fasern, so hält die geklebte Stelle noch länger.
Very old but excellent trick.
I haven't used shoe goo since like 2009 lmao. God bless Rick
😂👊
Nice and delicate work on the shoes, mate. I used something similar a few weeks ago on my shoes. Couldn’t find the Shoeglue product in the stores, but found something called Rubber Repair at a car accessories store.
Haha sick!!
@@rickyglaser a tip , if you rub an icecube on the shoe goo after you apply it, it will make the goo really smooth and slick. not as ugly haha
I super glued a strip of popped bicycle innertube to my flick spot on my skate kicks. I do this as soon as my sock is exposed. You can go as big or small as you need with the rubber strip. It's definitely one of the best ideas I have implemented in my skating!
Awesome!
A peice of scrap leather works well too.
brilliant
Wassup Ricky
Not much homie
I had this chick make me laces from those bracelets chicks used to make by like tying knots over and over , I loved those laces , so bummed when they were over
1rst?
Hey Ricky ✌, traduction in spanish, so i from latioamerica's
So nostalgic Ricky! Back in the days when we had no money, we quick-fixed our shoes only with duct tape. We put multiple layers over the holes inside the shoe, (sole too). It actually worked pretty well.
Duct tape is the best
Haha I remember shoe goo! Ricky is the expert (before he got sponsored) 😅
Ricky use a ice cube to spread the glue, super simple and there is zero mess and makes it super smooth!
Shoe goo is the best tool to keep shoes alive! Its like having 2 pairs of shoes..
Nice video ricky!
For real!
I use a piece of ice to apply the goo. It doesn't stick to it and gets it super smooth.
Wow cool
I like to use a toothpick to put on shoe goo
Sheeesh
Earlyyyyyyy's
please make a how to clean bearings video. Just bought new bearings that I can clean and the guy in the shop was terrible to explain me how to do it.
My black and red KW pros are so much more durable then my white and black ones
I stick some cloth fabric or even wood chips on my shoes
Lol back in the day. My airwalk 540s would have more goo than shoe. But you should be huffin that cali weed instead of shoe goo :p
People use to make fun of me for taking brand new skate shoes and globbing this stuff on them, shoes lasted much longer, and you can keep re-applying it as it wears out
You can also use it as bondo for small cracks in the streets!
@@KenEricksonn damn Lol super resourceful!
I totally used to use this. Yes, it wasn't pretty but with practice I could make it look intentional. 💙
Ricky the shoe goo master. Me and my son love your videos keep killing it pRicky.
I used Shoe Goo when I skated around 1993- 98. Recently my dad was telling me his shoe sole was coming off so I got him some and it solved it right away.
Epic!
ahhh good ol shoe goo. That was my trade secret back in the 2000s to keep the shoe goin for another month when i was in my teens. If people saw that shoe goo on your skate shoes... they knew you be rippin lol. And on your gooin the lace idea. What i did back then, i actually built up a small lace guard “wall” in front of the laces. It really made the shoe look “ghetto” but IDGAF back then haha. Kept the laces goin if you didnt have those expensive DVS n DC shoes wit built in lace protection.
Haven't used shoe goo since 1996
Thanks Ricky I will be definitely getting shoe goo because of you.
Epic!
Just use Hot Glue It's cheaper
This one will help
Yay
Yup that stuff is awesome
I remember putting shoe goo on my éS shoes as a kid- my parents would only buy me one expensive pair of skate shoes every 6 months
hey RIKKI, I was wondering when you create/ pick out a board (say an 8.0”) do you look/ feel out the size of the tail and or the nose?
I’ve been staking for about 5yr and only just realised that is a lot of variation to tail and nose! Can you make a vid explaining about why this is & if you have a preference, & what means for you when you skate, to have say a longer tail or nose? Kind Regards Luke !
Thank you, good idea 🙏
I definitely do. I’m not an experienced skater either, but I refuse to buy decks online unless I’m trying specifically support a certain skater or company. I prefer to check out the deck in person in order to feel the tail, nose, and most importantly for me the concave.
I used to just cut little pieces of fabric and super glue them onto the shoes on both sides where the holes were and also coated the patch on the outside with super glue to make it stronger honestly it only gave the shoes like one more week of life
I've seen some absolutely destroyed shoes brought back from the dead with this stuff
Way back in the day (mid 90's) we had these shoe shield cap things that we'd glue on our shoes. It's was like a hard rubber cap that would cover the entire front outer portion of the shoe and protect it from wear from ollies, kickflips, etc. The downside was it didn't really feel like the shoe rubber and always got caught on stuff. Plus they looked ridiculous and sometimes we'd get teased from the preppy skaters that we couldn't afford new shoes. Ah, the life and times of a broke skater kid.
We also tried a rubberized coating similar to what you'd put on hand tool grips that we got from Home Depot. We'd just dip the entire front part of the shoe in the can of liquid rubber, wipe off the bottom of the shoe, and let it dry. It worked but would only last like one session cause it was so grippy it would just end up stuck in the grip tape. I remember it was a weird look with blue rubber covering the entire front of my black & white almost completely destroyed Airwalks. lol
hey ricky ,what shoes do you recommend?
thanks
Vans, i like high tops like vans sk8 hi but all vans are the best :)
@@rickyglaser ok great thanks
Def suede over canvas.
I used to put vegimite on the inside of my shoes. Great ankle support.
🙏🙏🙏
I wonder what the Goo is called in AUS!
U can get the same, usually key marker booths have it
It's the same in Australia - Shoe Goo. Get it at a skate shop or Rebel Sport.
I just callus my pinky toes.
Lol same
Clean bearings 100%! Great video Ricky love these videos!!!
They stopped selling that in my country cause it was TOXIC
Skate mom of three boys ages 12, 10, and 8. I pick up Vans at thrift stores all the time, otherwise we couldn’t afford their skating. But I have gotten brand new skate sneakers for $5. Can’t beat it 😏
waxed hockey/derby laces are cheap and stay put super well and last tons longer than vans laces
Haven't Used Shoo Goo since the 90s.
I used to put a thin light precoat over a fresh pair where they would rip. Still looked fresh and lasted a bit longer.
So you skate a few times then add a precoat.
i skated back in the 90s (i'm 38 now) and god some kids back then had some really bad ShoeGoo jobs. it looked like they had dipped the front half of their shoe into a bucket of Shoe Goo
i recently patched soles from the inside with bike tire tube scrap. worked really well, i will def do it again. posted video if you want check it out
When I was a kid we used hot glue
Nice
Out here in the Philippines, we normally use inner tire tubes, we cut to shape it up and patch it on the shoe.
I actually have a whole in all of my socks in the exact same spot because i had a whole lol, fr they all of my socks have a whole in the same spot lol, thx man!
Kinda looks similar to rubber cement
Can you make a video on how to take bearings out of a wheel
Cheeky self plug, I have a video on that ;P
Shoo goo on the top if u blew out the bottom it’s done buy a new pair and on shoe laces and the stitches id recommend putting liquid super glue on them works like a charm
superglue your stitches before you skate in your shoes. less is more. when you start seeing a hole start to form, rub a little on the material. you dont need much just a thin layer and just keep up with it every week. when you put too much on the shoe doesnt flex with your foot. but superglueing your stitches in your high wear areas are a must to keep your shoes together. even when youwear the stitches away the glue is still holding the the threading that is between the layers of the shoes.
Yo My shoes wear out right at the exact kickflip place as you to where you can see my insoles and socks and I didn’t know how to shoe goo it thx I thought it was only me who wears out the toe like that
I use a spare pice of fabric to brace the inside if a hole is completely through
My shoes are shredded at the Ollie/kickflip mark but if feels bad to wear new shoes so I need this
Nice vid mate I do some skating myself on my channel
hot glue gun sticks work very well too. but instead of using ice as u do on shoogoo u use fire.
Use an ice cube to shape the goo it works perfectly
Feeling a little nostalgic watching this
Ricky “duct tape” Glaser
Ricky, you can just use ice to spread the glue
Hey Ricky love the content your my favorite skater
Keep shredding!
Buy a hot glue gun, it will save you much more time
I love shoe goo
Use an icecube to move it around
notice how there’s no dislikes 🤩
super glue is 10x better
I use hot glue on my shoes, works good.
Is it okay to use shoe glue
Amazing ❤️
Thanks Rick 😘
Oldschool :) more content like this pls 🙏🤟 I ❤sk8
while duct tape is the handy man's secret weapon, shoe goo is the skater's secret weapon. can use it for so many things. personally, even used it as caulk in the bathroom lol! also, generally, i try to keep 2 pairs of shoes. one pair for walking and one pair that ends up consisting of 50% shoe goo by the time i throw them out lol...
I usually used to use shoe goo and glue another piece of either fabric or leather to make my shoes last twice as long by adding more layers!
.also, use Super Glue on the stitching, it helps keep it from getting torn as fast..
i used glue stick for my shoe hehe but that's a great idea maybe I'll give it a try ☺️
hey rick just a suggestion here in the Philippines skate shoes are really expensive for us, so what are we doing is the interior or tires we are shaping it and and paste it with shoe glue on shoe part that is being rip. the skate shoe is lasting much more longer
Very helpful thanks Ricky
I use it on my brand new shoes just for that extra protection
Yaaaay
I havent seen shoe goo in so long. Used to use it in the late 90's to fix up shoes.
Flex seal spray works great too!
Ehh. I just buy new shoes. I like trying different styles and colors anyway. Totally understand if your a kid and your parents are getting pissed about destroying your shoes. Lol or if you just trying to spend less money. But I just go Vans store at the mall and shop in the clearance section. $30 gets you some dope shoes in there. Might be an odd color you don’t normally want but oh well. I don’t typically wear my skate shoes for other day to day stuff anyway.
Typically in Australia the shoes cost a lot more 😖
In America we have these things called pliers. They'll take that top right off, I don't care if you superglued it. Lol
I've never used shoe goo. I always saved old shoes. And used "crazy glue".
I'd cut pieces off my old shoe and put it on my new shoes using crazy glue. It'd last just as long as a new pair cuz it's using high quality materials like real sued. Shoe goo seems like a mess. And doesn't seem like it'd last as long. If my patches ever got loose crazy glue only costs about $2 max. And I'd have a lot of material left over from the shoe I cut up #REALSkateHack
if you buy like an extremely large pair of shoes you can fit them over your shoes to keep them safe and they will still look like new even after weeks but the smell will be extremely terrible (due to the heat???)
Wet the finger you’re spreading the glue with and it won’t stick
