this documentary and the woman behind it are both amazing.
thank you
@Eff so here a real violent guy cant control his words ! nice that you came by your own 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Eff don’t be a POS!
Agreed!
This reporter is AMAZING. She shows real empathy towards the victims of trafficking, but also is a determined investigator essentially in a world of stigma where many people shame and walk away
Noor is a rockstar! Her courage to speak to these guys it must've been stomach churning! please more from this amazing woman!!!
So courageous. To wear a hijab. Aka dumbjab only required in muslim countries where men can't control themselves when a woman isn't in one.
In those countries women protest against wearing one lol while in the west they wear it to appear edgy. It's not cool and is a symbol of oppression lol. 🤦♂️
@@sachyktothea I meant her being brave enough to go to said countries and confront these people. I agree 100% with you on the hijab I think its a gross representation of oppression.
@@sachyktothea actually it really depends on the person. I have a friend who wears it because it is religious and empowering. she isn't just saying that either, I can see it
@@sachyktothea Why isn't me wearing a kippah oppression? Why isn't a woman wearing a tichel oppression? Just admit you hate Muslims and fuck off.
The most empowering thing is a women doing what she wants to
This channel needs more views. So compelling.
Defqon you must be a white male
You’re hot.
Beta male. If you could only grow a pony tale or manbun.
I think your a great guy. Men take a lesson this is a real man
Your hella sexy
Thank you "John" for being man enough to at least stay and speak about this issue.
He divulged that he cares about his permanent record. That means we can deter them, or some of them.
Star Gazer absolutely not. They are all vile pedophiles.
@@katies5356 this series is about prostitution. Hence they could be 18+ and below legal age. I agree some are definitely pedos but some aren't. Technically they had sex with a legal aged woman so it's not pedo
@@katies5356 what ? All pedos. None of them are sad no life virgins ? They are all pedos and weirdos in your eyes. Cool.
Blaggard999-_- yep. you got it straight on.
"How do we balance that conversation?"
"By having it."
Yeah that helps....
Julia, men are NOT going to have a conversation with a man who had surgery and now thinks that because he had something removed, he is now a woman. If you want men to take this seriously, you need serious people to have serious conversations. You can't have insane men who mutilate their body be representative of anything in this discussion, not if you want it taken seriously.

I’m not even that much into the video, but as someone who has watched the past 2 episodes...am I the only person that’s pissed off that there are “rehabilitation” classes for these men, but rehabilitation and resources are not available to the victims?
Warsan Artan i think there isnt any rehabilitation for the women because it’s still illlegal to prostitute.. so you can’t rlly get rehabilitation until you’re no longer consideered a working girl.
I believe they do have programs for women arrested for prostitution that are the equivalent of the ones they have for those arrested under drug crimes. It usually accompanies probation.
I Actually think they do. because she says at minute 6:00 "...who works with the Surviver douring the day"
If you think about it, the buyer fuels the whole system. Without the buyer. Then all of the chain is saved
There are organizations and places that take in women but not enough. And very few if any for men and minors.
I would love very much to open a residental place for males.
Why are the buyers treated so special. They should be extremely punished. Instead the trafficked victims are punished over and over again.
U thinking increasing punishment is gunna stop people wanting sex.
When has that ever worked? For Any crime?
Cause illegalization, and the black market has nothing to do with it right?
It's similar to the drug trade.
Without legalization, hard regulation and taxation. Nothing is.gunna get fixed.
Men are horny
There are normal guys who are horny and psychopath horny men
Only difference one will want a transaction with a consenting adult while.the other tries to buy minors or adults against their will.
Either way you will.never stop.the oldest profession in human history nor stop guys wanting sex. So illegalization just ain't gunna work.
Why does anyone need to be punished for consensual sex?
@Moha Amip no. Children are not fully capable of critical thinking. So if they are peer pressured into it and then forced into sex Its NOT their fault. And no. They are not "hoes" for it. IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT. You need to understand they have a loose grip and idea of sex and won't know what they are getting into.
I just watched all three episodes and I have to say great job. The US needs a better safety net indeed and better welfare for people. Welfare is dead and it died in 1996. It’s so sad! Just read a book called $2 a day. Living on almost nothing in America and I strongly recommend that book to everyone reading this comment.
Casiana S thanks for the book recommendation I really enjoyed your comment and you're Insight
No it's not. I know people who live on public assistance. They get a townhome for $80 per month. I k ow 3 who have their college courses for free. Their childs daycare is under $100 per month. So they can go to school. Free stuff isn't free! Someone has to pay for it.
Barbara Vance Not the point at all but okay.
Def going to check that book out.
Absolutely loved this series, thank you for sharing
Did he say he is getting the opportunity to make it disappear from his record?! Are you fking serious! We as women don't get such opportunities
When the damage is done, we live with it forever. It is a detail heavily overlooked. But honestly, I don't like that one of them could possibly be my neighbor after they get it off their record. When I have kids one of them could be my neighbor and my say in whether I want to live that close or not has now been taken. The justice system will then have put my children in danger & I think that is one the absolute worst things you can do to a woman. It's a never ending battle with congress for women.
@@kittykatcongregation Sadly, I don't think it's an open and shut case. On one hand, yes, people want to protect their children from perceived harm. On the other, we need to consider that a) records being wiped after completing rehabilitation training is not something that is open for everyone - not for those who were arrested on charges of violent sex crimes or sex crimes involving a minor. Sexual attraction to children is a specific disorder, so someone who bought sex from a prostitute that was of age would not be a threat to children; and b) we know that the leading cause for re-offending is rejection from society - not being able to find housing, work or re-integrate. So, paradoxically, pushing people like that away mostly ends up causing what we hope to avoid by pushing them away. Not saying send all your kids, unsupervised, over to the new neighbor's house, who just moved there two days ago, but that's something you shouldn't do anyway - you knowing stuff from their past that wasn't violent or wasn't related to minors is not relevant.
@Lafaye Reid You know what I like? Making blanket statements and providing no examples as to what I mean or any references backing up my claims. Really convinces people I'm right.
@Lafaye Reid 1) If you believe Twitter is "the whole legal system," you need a civics class.
2) We literally have a Supreme Court Justice who is probably a rapist, who was not concerned about clearing his name and actively wanted as little investigation as possible, which he was granted. The whole thing was framed by the Senate as a partisan attack, rather than what it was, a woman recounting one of the worst days of her entire life. A well-educated woman, mind you. A Ph.D. in psychology. She is not confused about who attacked her. She is smarter than the average person. She is likely far smarter than you, for example.
3) Those who presided over that trial overwhelmingly said that Dr. Ford was credible. That her emotion in the trial was sincere, that she was driven by civic duty to speak out and tell those in power that this abuse happened. Kavanaugh, on the other hand, was an emotional wreck during the entire trial. He cried about his dad's old calendars, working out with his high school bros and mentioned beer dozens of times. He was reticent, combative, and frankly conducted himself like a child. Watch the footage and see for yourself.
4) Despite this incredible lack of discretion or fact-checking, the Senate did not break any laws by confirming Kavanaugh. This sham of a hearing was morally wrong... but it was not illegal. Those men (they're still overwhelmingly male) BELIEVED Dr. Ford. They just DID NOT CARE.
5) We STILL have the OTHER Supreme Court Justice who was accused of sexual harassment during his confirmation and faced exactly zero consequences for the same. His accuser is still alive, and has forged a brilliant legal career for herself through this ordeal. But in the 25 years between then and now, so little has changed about the realities of assault. The power struggle, the objectification and indignity, and most importantly, the utter lack of consequences for perpetrators. In case you live under a rock, the Justice and his accuser are named Clarence Thomas and Anita Hill, respectively.
6) There are not enough women lawyers. There are not enough lawyers of color. The profession of law is still overwhelmingly white, straight, rich, male. Able-bodied... you name a privileged class, and that class is overrepresented among attorneys. Part of this is because law school is expensive, and paying off loans takes longer if you're poor (for *cough* whatever reason), and is actually MORE expensive for disadvantaged populations because that's how interest works. P e to the rt, bitch. Educate yourself.
Hailey, expungement is an equal-opportunity component of our criminal justice system. There is a wide variety of criminal offenses that can be erased from a person's record (provided that they undertake the laborious and sometimes expensive process of getting it done).
Of course, that doesn't change the way stigma follows us women around for the rest of our lives. Being blamed and derided by certain members of our society is a hideous cultural construct, one that no amount of law enforcement will uproot or eradicate.
Societies are made of people. Societies change when their people do. Mostly this happens when elder generations die off, because people are stubborn and often refuse to change their minds. But sometimes it happens when people of all ages learn and grow, rise up, speak out.
The best way to change your society is to remind yourself every day that you are a member of it. Statistically, your existence changes society, by ever so small an amount, but a nonzero amount all the same. Your life is within your control, and your life may yet influence other lives. You are a human being. You matter.

I was VERY surprised that Newsy actually had the courage to interview an anti-sex trafficking professional that is fighting against FOSTA/SESTA AND they actually interviewed sex workers.
Thank you very much for not talking about sex workers without sex workers participating in this very important discussion!!!
Newsy has an entire episode focused on the sex workers; both legal in Nevada and illegal.
Well done Noor and Newsy team.
Obvious to me why nothing has been done about this for so long: Politicians are sometimes their best costumers.
Thank you. Trafficking is a multi billion dollar industry!!! Who is truly profiting? People wake up the rulers of the world are behind this operations. The government provide their own citizens with drugs. Children in the system which is run by government are the most targeted. Come on connect the dots. The rabbit hole goes wayyyy deeper than you can imagine and in a global scale. Look at what is going on in Hollywood with Director Weistein and the Epstein Island and today committee suicide in jail cell while on suicide watch. ??? Nothing it's a coincidence. So much is coming out to surface pay attention and let go of the mind control that is put on us on a daily basis.
I used to laugh at conspiracy theorists, but I have since grow to become much more suspicious and now question almost everything. I think the fundamentals of our constitution and “System of government” are sound. The system has simply become perverted (not merely in the sexual sense but in the general sense also) and corrupted by greedy and self serving politicians. Politicians where elected to serve the people, but instead have made careers of serving themselves. The framers had intended elected officials to be public servants, but instead they have become the elite class that has set a different standard for themselves than for the people they were elected to serve!!
no surprise there
then wouldn't they try and overturn anti-prostitution laws? They certainly have the most power to do so.
Exactly. It's all about power and money
Really informative documentary. Well done Newsy and especially Noor Tagouri; a compassionate and excellent journalist. This is the type of journalism and content I look for.
Glad to hear Seattle is making a stronger program. The John's should pay a higher fine than the workers.
They could use that money they are spending to fuel the sex trade in business to fund programs to end this abuse as they get thrown in jail. And these Johns need to be exploited as well.
Very sexist...
Felicity Ray Self wouldn't the be the legal equilavant to making drug addicts spend more time in jail than the drug dealers? Seems like a reasourse issue in regards to enforcement. probably a larger population of Johns than prostitutes.
The workers should not be fined at all. They should be forceably detained to safehouses, detoxed, required to finish their GED, and given therapy.
Neither should pay a fine
Such a complex issue... Seems almost impossible to solve.

Nothing is impossible. Remember that. Innocent people need our help and we can't think like that. Even the small things you could do in everyday activities play a part in ending this whether it be you keeping an eye open, sharing the info of a buyer and his picture around social media to exploit the people paying, joining an advocacy group & volunteering for a hotline all help to stop this. This won't be fixed tmrw but stay persistent.

Prostitution will never go away. Illegalization doesnt work.
Simple. The host would suggest wearing a hijab like they do in the middle East LOL.
I wish this series was longer bc the documenting and content are both so well done. I am so sorry for those victims, I can only imagine their pain. This definitely opened my eyes in many ways. I feel the drug epidemic certainly goes hand in hand and I know many people who have financed their addictions thoroughly via prostitution. I was even approached several times to get involved and turned down every offer. I can’t imagine those who don’t have a choice in this no matter their reason. As someone who has physical disabilities, I know that the accessibility to public services is scarce to none. So to those who think that men and women can just simply turn to the government are so misinformed. If it’s impossible for someone with physical disabilities to be able to access services, think of how little people who sell themselves have an opportunity to gain anything from our government. Our government would like to just turn a blind eye to this entire issue as if it’ll just magically go away and that’s clearly not going to do any help. I believe earlier this year backpage was taken down. When I just searched it, it showed that it had been seized by the government which I believe is a small step in the right direction but doesn’t clog the flood. It’s truly a societal issue that’s at a standstill. I hope for those on all sides that there is some sort of resolution, and for victims that there will be justice for their suffering. Most people who do this are just trying to survive which may be hard for many people to understand but it’s just a fact. I like that Noor lets the interviewee be open and that she doesn’t discredit anyone’s views or stance. Truly unbiased reporting in my opinion. I wish the news was like this. Honest documentarians should follow suit with these videos. I find that with documentaries, there shouldn’t be a dialogue leading its’ viewers to feel a certain way on the information being received. Great reporting and overall just a great way to lead people into the conversation. Many find that the sex industry shouldn’t be spoken on or explored. Once again my heart goes out to the victims and even those who aren’t victims and that chose to be in the sex industry. I know some of what I said was very repetitive and may be overlooked, but I appreciate anyone that has read my comment.
If I could like this comment a million times I would. I completely agree with all of it. Well said.
allison sings thank u for listening
I actually like when journalists show their feminist and human rights activists motive through their work and take a stance against exploitation and on top let their research speak for itself - I really like both. but agree with all else you said and think she does an awesome job. it's also the case they're not only financially vulnerable, but statistics show that 75% - 100% of all girls and women "working" aka being exploited in the sex industry, no matter prostitution, porn, etc. have been suffering from sexual violence and exploitation, abuse already in their childhood while growing up. this says a lot about what was indoctrinated in them of what they're worth... just being exploited for somebody elses sick need for power and perversions. and also this old saying of people who spread justification of it, claiming without evidence prostitution is the oldest "business" (in fact it's mainly a crime anyways) - it's not, it's merely 4000 years old, as old as patriarchy. since that children - mainly girls and women were objectified and exploited heinously. pimps, human traffickers, mainly men feed of off girls and women like leeches, parasites, criminal golddigers. they're the realgolddiggers, yet men only ever accuse women of it to distract from the real golddigger parasites. luckily there are good men as well who advocatefor laws like The Nordic Modelto make paid sex only illegalfor the customers. asin Scandinavia, France, etc. already the case.
This reporter is so thoughtful and concise in all she says and you can tell she has a great heart is full of conviction as a Journalist. This was such a great series !! Hope to see more from her and more stuff like this :)
I’ve read a lot of comments on here and I think people are forgetting what the series is about. Trafficking. Not prostitution alone. If it’s two adults and they both want to that’s isn’t an issue. It’s when women and children are used to make other people rich, or are forced to do this so they aren’t killed.
On another note I don’t understand why the person on the corner who is clearly down and out has more repercussions legally than the person driving up and paying for it. It should be equal.
Yes but there attaching trafficking as if prostitution is main problem but illegalization and having a black market is what amplifying the issue.
I agree but I think even when the worker wants to do it they don’t really - think of the first video when Noor asked if the sex worker would recommend the job and she said no. If society was better as whole (i.e. employment opportunities) no one would want this type of work.
@@jameelah6115 What do you mean by "even when the worker wants to do it they don’t really"? Wanting to do something and consenting to it are different things. Just because lawyer does not want to defend a murderer does not mean that he does not consent to it. An ER doctor may not want to save a KKK member but will probably consent to save him. A police officer may not want to take an abused woman that just killed her abusive husband into custody but will probably consent ti do it. Most humans consent to many things that we do not want to do.
Just because the sex worker said that she would not want young girls to want to become sex workers does not mean that she does not consent to sex. Many experienced police officers/doctors/teachers/etc. would not want boys and girls to follow their footsteps. Police officers and teachers tend to work unhealthy long hours filled with impotent rage, powerlessness and extreme stress and impossible expectations only to be ridiculed and insulted by society in general.
In short, it takes a special person and a special temperament to be a good police officer/ teacher/ sex worker/ doctor/ etc.
Jameelah you’re completely right. Don’t let anyone tell you different
Emily Betts so it should be legal to view and reduce women as sexobjects? Most prostitutes do it because they are poor or forced. If they would have a choice they wouldn’t work in prostitution. The johns HAVE A CHOICE. No one is forced to buy sex for survival !

Lanora Ruiz the whole world is in chaos! Everyone is going to be abused/traumatized/exploited one way or another... I wish I could change the world, I used to think I came here on a spiritual mission to save humanity... now I know this world has always been shit, and always will... if humans wanted to make life/the world into a paradise, then we would have done it by now... now it’s clear ‘the system’ controlled by the free masons/Illuminati have already claimed this world a long time ago, and they want to keep everyone in a state of fear, selfishness, and trauma so they can use humans as their play toys...

If you get rid of backpage, it will just force that industry further underground making them harder to find and making it more dangerous for the sec workers themselves.

There selling sex on this site called moco space now these girls are selling themselves for $30 and for drugs it’s so sad..
Everything done on the web is a lot more monitored than you think. Not to mention backpage was helping underage posts by changing certain keywords in the titles and descriptions. That site is worst than pimps selling kids.
Actually what it will do is have politicians and big ponchos up in the higher ranks of officers and the federal beaurue to pretend that shutting down the site has been a true success, encouraging surbaban house moms to also pretend since they cant see the crimes or hear about them that it's all dandy and fixed while simultaneously all they did is what u said push it further underground via using other sites, apps, and ooooo idk this thing called the fucking internet with billions of pages and billions more in underground sites using TOR network to allow the continuation of rape, kidnapping and molestation of both adult and minors.
But hey, if u cant see it now than that means it's a huge success. Vote for me in 2020!!!!

Such insanely insightful conversations by incredibly intelligent and empathetic women
Major props to Noor, what a great job and such an awesome documentary.
I'm from Washington state, not too far from Seattle. I had an angry X post my picture on 6 different sites. He made my profiles very nasty & made me seem like a prostitute. (I was told by a friend I was on dating site, so we checked a bunch & found me on 6) There's fake Facebook profile with my picture. I had men coming up to me all the time propositioning me for sex. It was awful!!! These type of men are SICK!!! Without the men AKA buyers, the women & pimps are forced to find different ways to make money.
this video is really encouraging as is the seattle initiative. prostitution has been legalised in new zealand, where i live and has increased massively. it's disturbing. unless the men who exploit and abuse these vulnerable people are confronted and held responsible this will never change. and it must change. people are too precious to be used and abused.
Whenever people make statements like saying that prostitution in N.Z has increased massively without any sources I can't help but do a quick google search to see if it's true. What I found this time pretty quickly was that decriminalizing prostitution has not meant more women have turned to prostitution (I don't get why people would think it would, this is not a profession for everyone thats for sure) but what it has meant is that women are safer and a sex worker was even successful in prosecuting a brothel owner '..through the Human Rights Review Tribunal for sexual harassment by her employer. She was awarded NZ$25,000 for emotional harm. “As a new generation of sex workers begins in an environment where things are fairer,” Barnett explained, “they will slowly find that they are not working in an environment where that behaviour is tolerated”. I'm sure it's not perfect but it seems a whole lot better then other countries thats for sure.

Years after being trafficked, living in another state, one of the buyers somehow found my new number and even sent me a friend request (not noticing I wasn't even in the same state). They left a voicemail and sent text messages on how much they wanted to see me, and other details, clearly wanting to get together. YEARS LATER. Buyers do not care, the majority of mine were very wealthy, the could care less what was going on in my life, still couldn't, they are seen as pillars in their community. Me, finding a job, being taken serious by anyone, having to repeatedly contact law enforcement agencies and finally someone willing to take my case on. Meanwhile, a buyer continues to see me in such a way that they go to such extremes to find me. The system is screwed up. People go missing but families have no idea they person is likely in another city or another state, even country. Others do not but most don't recognize the person is being victimized.
The more I find out the more I really feel thay if this was legalized and regulated on a state level a lot more lives could be saved
You just want to buy legal sex without being punished for it.
@@linaparker5514 what is wrong with two consenting adults exchanging sex for money? Prostitutes at legal brothels in Nevada make over $100,000 per year and have safe working conditions.
@@dchenkin02 what is wrong with that, is that you assume it is morally acceptable to BUY sex from someone. I hope you realise that you buy only their consent. A body, or the emotional reaction to the sex with a complete stranger you might not even have a chemistry with, cannot be bought. You can't make your body or your feelings react in a certain way. So the probability of women going into prostitution, not being aware of this issue is very high. They will be traumatized by this before they can realise it because they are often as young as 18 or 20. The brain is only fully developed at 25. They will be traumatized by the fact that their brains say "but I wanted this" but their bodies will feel raped and humiliated.
There is nothing you can do about that. No money will solve this problem.
If you do sex work long enough, eventually this feeling will be the norm for you. You will not be able to have a connection with someone through sex anymore. Intimacy will be alien because of the trauma.
Sex work should be illegal and prohibited.
And If anything, the minimum age of working in the sex industry should be 25.
Another problem is the entitlement of men thinking they need this service because they are lonely and desperate for sex. Where do women go if they are lonely? Where do they go? You think sex will solve this? This very thought is the root problem. Sex is not love. Loneliness only goes away through real human connections.
@@없어수지 God, I wanted to say this so fucking much, people think that two adults giving and being given money for sex is enough for the sexual encounter to be considered _"consensual"_ but if people stopped viewing sex as a biological mechanism of human reproduction like some _conservatives_ see it as or if _liberals_ stopped viewing sex as something banal, insignificant that doesn't leave physical or emotional scars, I'm pretty sure people would stop thinking that money or any other material reward can compensate for the _emotional, psychological and health-related_ issues involved in sexual intercourse, sex is more than just the genitals, it is more than just the money, it is more than just two hot bodies colliding with each other in a bedroom, it is more than just being horny and letting your hormones carry you away, it involves things such as: _trust, maturity, responsibility, accountability, emotional connection, commitment_ and these things can't be bought and sold like a pair of shoes, a shirt, socks, a laptop or any other material object that can be replaced and changed once it is no longer useful, you can't really buy _consent,_ because _consent is about really wishing to be with that person without needing that person to buy you anything or doing something for you._ Exchanging money in order to feel _"motivated"_ enough to have sex _is not nor will be_ consent. Loneliness has to do with the sheer disconnection and distancing human feel from each other due to many factors such as social media, hours of work, individualism, depression and _sex for money_ will never eradicate that loneliness.
Not to mention that behind the sex trafficking industry there are extremely powerful people who are often the ones to demand these _"services"_ and many of those people are in charge of running countries, involved heavily and deeply in their countries' politics, millionaire and billionaire business owners who have lots and lots of money in their hands, people powerful enough to _make laws and change the ones that already exist_ and legalizing sex work without _criminalizing and stigmatizing all the men who buy sex from women_ is just giving these powerful criminals exactly what they're asking for: the legal, economic and social _acceptance_ of their crimes, it perpetuates the misogynistic stereotype that women are sexual objects with no free will of their own, that women owe men sex at the expense of their own health, comfort, emotional health and that men's sexual needs and pleasure are more important than women's. Liberal feminists talk about women _"being in control of their own bodies"_ but conveniently forget that in the sex industry _women are not the ones who actually make the choices over their own bodies, men are the ones in charge of making those decisions, because men are the customers and the women are the ones providing a "service": they serve men and accommodate their comfort to satisfy men's needs and demands._ That is the least empowering pro-women "profession" in this world. You can't separate prostitution from _poverty, vulnerability of women, broken women and girls from broken and dysfunctional families, girls who were abused in their childhood,_ because this is the kind of women and girls who make up the majority of prostitutes, very few women do this voluntarily.i
@@95maferisturiz thank you for saying what i couldnt express in words. 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
I am South African of Indian descent ( Tamil - South Indian.). My family is traditional on both sides and I grew up immersed in the culture. I went to an after school program in primary school ( 10 - 12 years) to learn the language of my grand parents and the ethics. There was also Madressa ( for the Muslim children). All this was community arranged and voluntary during the Apartheid regime in South Africa. I wanted to be a journalist. My form room teacher who was also my history teacher discouraged me as it was dangerous in those times. I was encouraged to study Social Work. I changed after two years to Teaching. I had gotten a job to teach Tamil within the public school program when I was 19. I stayed in this job until I was 27 and even though I was a qualified teacher I was never a full time public school teacher with the benefits. As a family of four daughters and a son ( I'm the eldest) and my dad was diagnosed with cancer when I was 23 it was challenging. I joined an NGO when I was 27, in an attempt to make a real difference in my country. I learned about rural Kwa Zulu Natal and by the second year almost lost my life after an attempted car jack. After a short recovery I was looking to find a job. It took me over a year and I became a medical rep. Now I was working in private sector - healthcare sales. I learned and grew exponentially. At age 32 my father passed on and at age 34 my sister became a single mom and a diagnosed schizophrenic. I bought a house and was the "father" At age 39 I was unemployed after a male manager decided to "fire" me when I didn't comply with his advances in the pharmaceutical industry. I took the first job available which was in South Korea to teach English. After 5 years of that I really wanted to return to South Africa and be a full citizen but I didn't find a suitable position for more than a year so I returned to South Korea, shelving my dreams to work for my first employers in South Korea who had started a language school in an elite area in Seoul. I made some interesting connections in this part of the world and learned about contrasting societies and in particular social stereotyping of all kinds. I'm planning to return to South Africa on April 6th 2019 and a few weeks ago I joined a cafe meetup group where we meet over coffee on Saturday mornings to discuss TEDx talks that inspire us. For this weeks meetup I chose yours after finding this piece and looking for your TEDx talk in hope of finding it ( totally intuitive). I am inspired and in awe of your work. Thank you for being YOU! and living your personal legend ( The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho). I want to know what you are doing now in 2019 so I can follow your journey.
“How can you take away something without having something in its place to fix it” biggest argument against religious groups who say prostitution should be destroyed and prostitutes arrested.
Abortion is important as well as some households need the option of abortion. Especially thoose addicted to drugs.
I think religious people would simply prefer to help these people as opposed to simply punishing them.
As for abortion, religious people would see abstinence and adoption as a replacement for abortion.
Say it again this shit started with Teddy Roosevelt and his Kabals
Thank you so much Noor and everyone who participates in this documentary. You guys educated me a lot about those issues about sex trafficking
Part 3 of this series is so eye opening, excellent journalism.
This was soooo good. The interviewer/host is super amazing! Great 👍🏽 work ... we all needed this ... thank you
When she said: idk if the men will be comfortable I laughed like they exploited women and children for sex. It’s okay for them to be like uncomfortable
Thanks Noor and Kate! Watched all 3 parts in one go. Serious epidemic. Really thought provoking and educational. There has to be a solution somehow. So sad 😭 💔
11:37 backpage could be easily tracked, and that’s how the figure was generated. Now that backpage is gone, that figure is meaningless, as there’s no method of tracking that information.
Donald Trump shut Backpage down. But everyone including this host probably will still hate him.
very very well done documentary this channel deserves a billion views tbh
Wow. This was an amazing series. I especially love how professional and non biased Noor is when interviewing people - not to mention she's gorgeous!!! Loved this documentary.
Honestly thank you to the John for being willing to speak to us.
Thank you Noor you are amazing and elegant well done. God has mercy.
I wish everyone was able to see this, very informative. If more people were educated on this situation, I feel some of this could be stopped.
Backpage did get shut down, finally.
Perspective via conversation is so powerful. I’ve gained some new thoughts on this topic from all of these interviews.
Absolutely a system issue. I've been homeless before and wondered what my options were. I found others, but only because I live in a city with opportunities and had the forethought to give myself backdoors out of these situations so I could pick myself up again without resorting to a job that I can't do.
Also, prostitution isn't always non consenting and if it was legal, I wanted to spend the money, and the guy was absolutely willing and was 25+yrs old I would rent a guy for a night sometime. Not everyone is in it for survival or by coersion, those that are absolutely need help. Those that want that line of work should be given the same amount of safety and respect anyone in any legal job has rights to.
Noir is excellent in these interviews . It's well done .The people feel comfortable talking & she lets them talk .Good questions .
Well done. Thank you.
This is a great documentary and hats off to the Newsy team and especially Noor Tagouri. Very informative, detailed, and nonjudgemental.
Just finished watching all 3 parts and other reated videos. This issue is so complicated, and it seems that every person involved has a different idea on how to improve the system. However, I do think more people need to know about this. When I told a coworker I was watching this, they asked why I would watch something so depressing. Simply because we need to be informed on the issues that are happening and need our attention. Like one girl said, people saw her on that corner every day and didnt say a word. When you know better you do better.
Activism isn't depressing. Things like I.D discovery , Law and Order and Lifetime trying to capitalize on the whole issue of sexual violence are fucking depressing. Not to mention that most of America eats the glorification of it up until it happens to someone they know.
Noor you are amazing! You are compassionate, smart and non-judging and very earnest to help bring healing to this country. Thank you for all your caring and for doing this documentary!
Thank you, Noor et al.
Thanks for putting this story on youtube
I was so happy when I saw her in the vid. She is so inspirational.
I feel like these men get off so easy like their the victim some how because they are lonely or whatever. It make me so mad listening to them talk.😡
Kate Oelerich they shouldn’t get away with it it’s illegal so there should be a charge for sure but a lot of these men just have sex with adult women who consent to it they’re not all monsters or rapists. Many are though but you’ll get those people when illegal activities happen.
Kate, we need to make lifelike sex-robots. We needed them yesterday. Build robots, and the "buyers" will all be gone tomorrow. They will buy robots instead there would be no sex trade. There would be no victims. No one is trafficked, no one would be harmed.
@@paulcolburn3855 I read a article about what would happen if they made real life sex dolls the only people that would be complaining is women and religious people. The women would complain because it takes their power they have over men away... think about that!!
@@youtubewatcher6953 : Of COURSE that is why they would complain but that is NOT the reason they would give for complaining. They would say it objectifies them because (well) it does. But the reason is that they lose power. Objectification is not the non-starter for women that are sex robot. The losing power IS the non-starter for them.
@@paulcolburn3855 well they better get use to it, the things man is creating will render them obsolete in the future .. according to the article
5:32 can’t stand how gloomy Seattle WA is 😞 everything is that deep blue hue for the entire day for months at a time throughout winter, no wonder everyone’s sad there
Excellent Series. Noor, you did a fantastic job!
I really love Noor's approach. This whole docu series is informative and phenomenal.
Why doesn’t this have more views? We need to be sharing these videos.
This is so important. So many women, the victims, are jailed and persecuted , yet their rapists or buyers, go free. Even the pimps go free. Men fucking disgust me.
Amazing documentary series, very enlightening
Thank you for sharing this very well researched and executed series!!!
I honestly needed way more episodes of this. Totally changed my outlook on these topics. Seriously in depth and cold. 😞
Noor you are completely amazing and inspiring. Oh and very fricken courageous girl! Thank you for such interesting, eye opening, at times heartbreaking stories that are so raw and true. You definitely have a gift in telling and getting the story told. Not everyone can get people to share their darkest parts of themselves without feeling exploited. Im sure it is hard, and yet you seem so respectful of people that a lot of us wouldnt be able to control our disdain for the individual, we couldnt control our bias. But thats why I think you are so talented at getting the truth. Im sure you have your own opinions and feelings about the subjects but you dont let them infringe on the story so we the viewer/listener get the totally organic listening experience. Thank you. Keep up the great work.
The issue is poverty fix that.
Honestly look forward to your other videos! You found yourself a new subscriber, not just that but also person that wants to bring this issue to as much people as possible. Let’s stop turning a blind eye.
This series is really good!
Powerful words to end on. Thank you for enlightening us and sharing.
violence against sex workers should be considered a hate crime and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law
this series was so fascinating and well done. investigative and documentary journalism is something i really want to persue and especially about darker topics like these give me motivation to persue this career
I work in a strip club. By choice, I like my job. I get paid nearly as much as a doctor or lawyer (my friends an orthopedic surgeon and my cousin is a criminal lawyer, her sister (my younger cousin) is a real estate lawyer)
I also have a bachelors. And I'm back in school looking to get my masters. I can outsmart 95% of the men I meet. But that doesn't help me make money. Acting like a bimbo does. Call me whatever you want. I like taking taxis and eating at expensive restaurants. I like owning two homes at the age of 26. I like taking care of my elderly family. My mom just had surgery. She had the option to stay at these horrific hospitals for free(which I've personally stayed at and wanted to die) she is elderly. I sent her to a private hospital 300$/night she loved it. I just bought her a house which she thinks its for me to move into. Shes helping me pick out the walls and floors. And I cant wait till I give her the keys and say this is yours.
I've hired photographers (3)just for that moment because I need a good few shots to put in the entrance of the house.
Call me whatever you want. i'm happy and I support sex workers and I'm probably more educated than 75% of you. Stop judging things you know nothing about. If you're curious. come in, buy a drink. And ask. We don't bite. Most of us are educated, well traveled and pretty intelligent.
Don't judge what you're afraid of.
I don't really care what you do with your life but why do you have a need to explain and rationalize your life decisions?
@@a.jlondon9039 You obviously care if you took the time to read it and ask me a question lol. i dont care about Tim Hortons. I dont read their stuff or comment on it. Thats what ' I dont care' really feels and sounds like babe xoxo sorry if I hurt your feelings ;)
@@a.jlondon9039 Did you see the video she commented on? Thats why she explained her life decisions. Lol and I agree it sounds like you def. Care lol.
@@ninad1859 Thank you. Someone with a brain. Lol nine people actually ( Thanks for the thumbs up guys =) )
Consenting to take your clothes off while moving your body and being paid fairly for your efforts is FAR different than sharing bodily fluids and being penetrated by someone for even really good money. Stripping is not even on the same planet as when someone is FORCED to share their body, being penetrated by all types of weirdos. While someone else takes those profits. While she is most likely injected with drugs. While she is forced into all types of activites she would never consent to. And probably no one is even wearing a condom. A trafficking victim, is just that a victim. Don't pretend you are educated on this topic, when you clearly are not.
what i learned from this trilogy is that this issue is very complicated, so many variables to take into consideration
like she said, by having this conversation, keep talking about it, is how we will solve this
Whao! Even a country like America is not SAFE. Think about other countries? Sad complex world.
Well whatever country it is you can find the common denominator in all the evil in the world. Its so in your face please don't except this behavior as normal.
19:32 The best point of the whole series! 👏👏👏
If that means your failing that community, your failing the whole country. Really its humanity that's failing.
What a great series. Thank you so much for this.
It seems like every time the gov comes across something they can end or start to help there’s a reason to do nothing so we get stuck with a broken system the best way to start without question is in schools where young children are is where the knowledge needs to start health classes is where it should really start and not in middle school but around 5th grade because they only real way to make a solid change is to start where it all begins the molding of our society. Also have classes or even send through email this type of information to parents so it can be something it’s being talked about and not just accepted among the society. Parents and children are the heart of our communities.
WOW, I love your documentaries on this subject.
They made the “John” sound like Seth Rogen.
I don’t know who Johns wife is but she is one forgiving and tolerant woman.
Noor is brilliant! And beautiful!
She bullshit
so powerful. thanks for sharing this noor!
So sorry for many of you who live sheltered lives and don't live in the real world. Been in military and corrections, plus grew up in the hood. It don't stop just evolves.
Lol that is incredibly ironic seeing as a lot of the people involved in this, commenting on this or following the activism to protect sex workers come from a background of poverty , trafficking and violence. You can't seriously think the only ones who'd fight for the rights of these people are "sheltered"? How could that possibly make less sense?
Think before you start next time, Mr. Military and corrections. This is the real world. If you're not willing to do anything to help move it forward then leave it.
