Something I never realized before now: it’s ok to be sad and happy at the same time in this world. I don’t have to constantly find reasons for things or fight with myself to be more optimistic. It’s a new definition of “allowing” that I never really took note of before. If that makes sense? Awesome speech, regardless.

Same here because as you grow older, you will more and more experience the loss of loved family, friends, and pets. And if you don't acknowledge that this is the way life is, you will wallow in your sadness. So you might as well embrace it because it's not going to get any better. And your sadness will never go away and so it becomes part of your life as a bitter-sweet melancholy, and at the same time, that doesn't have to affect your happiness.

I find it utterly astonishing and tremendously gorgeous how we all gather here from different places of the world and share this profound experience called life. In this moment, right now. Through this video.
We are seemingly different yet we all fundamentally have longing for the one thing that connects us all together - love. Through that we can see a glimpse of ourselves even in our worst enemies eyes. And there it lies; an everlasting truth. You know that behind those harsh words and actions hides part of the same love that you feel, part of the same love that you once thought you're missing and thus felt a deep longing for. Give that, be that. It's our essence.

@@manwithaporpoiseYTsucksD that you feel how you do, is also part of the perfection.. (and also highly relatable btw, at an intellectual and emotional level) - only, what these guys are talking about is something that transcends even our judgements of this current situation.. we are so subjective and anthropocentric and yet we have the capacity to see that: our own inevitable subjectivity and also the notion of a more universal perspective.. once you don't merely conceive of this universal / non-dual perspective as an intellectual abstraction but actually experience it yourself, you will accept all of it as perfect, too - i struggle to reconcile this with my "natural" reaction to the evils in the world, every day.. the disgust you speak of (and immense grief) are hard not to feel.. but if you've ever had a transcendental experience you'll know that there is a greater perspective and understanding of all that is, not from our little human point of view... I wish for you to experience that absolute bliss, light and understanding and *absolute* love, someday.. i wish for all of us to experience it, in this life if possible, and to attain it as a permanent state ourselves, if that is possible.. there is also a lot of love in the world.. and you are also perfectly loved (you *are* perfect love).. whether you perceive it right now or not.. ❤️

This video feels like it came at the exact right time. With everything going on in the world right now, I felt overwhelmed at all the suffering in the world, and also at the potential for more suffering in the future. Listening to the video allowed me to open my heart a little and to feel the humanity within each of us, within myself. To be able to appreciate the troubling emotions of the troubling times. See the suffering and inhumanity of the world fully and to let myself cry. To let myself see the beauty of the world, when I take a step outside and see the birds flying in the sky and the trees dancing in the wind. To look at all of life and be able to say how its all perfect. to see the pain and joy and still be able to say
    and this too...

@@lucasfer736It makes complete sense. To experience the fullness of life is to experience the full range of human emotions, to experience the full range of human emotions you need to experience the full range of human experience. As Ram Dass said "It's all as the curriculum of the soul." Perfect example: People you love are going to prosper so you can share in their joy, people you love are going to fail so you can share in their sorrow, people you love are going to die, and that's heartbreaking, but that's what makes the time spent with eachother so precious, the knowledge that it is finite. I hope that helps 💙.

Unfortunately, Ram was led by darkness and didn't realize it. He wanted to be of course light-filled, but some of the things he did show this. It's a dangerous world, our souls are at stake. Spiritual awakening is usually not what it appears. Only Jesus Christ can open our eyes through repentance and cleansing of sins. See, many things these days omit the reality of sin. The new age industry that Ram Dass was a part of is a deception of darkness to take many souls to hell. Seek the Lord Jesus Christ, He is the Alpha and Omega. I agree the world is a beautiful place, but it is also saturated with darkness and deception. It's not just polarity as is used in new age circles, there's a concerted effort to take souls to hell and most sadly go there. It's a real place in the afterlife and spirit world because most refuse the love, mercy, and forgiveness of God to follow their own flesh and the world.

I watched this video less than 12 hours before my dearest cat suddenly died a couple of days back. Prior to that, I lost my eldest cat two months before.
I had a dream of a tsunami a week before my dear cat died and it was one of the most memorable dreams I've ever had because I felt genuine fear for my real life as I was experiencing that. I now consider it as a sign from God that I should have prepared my heart.
I went through that fresh, raw grief with these words in my heart. I can only trust the process and have faith in the Universe at this point.

Wow my star family… SAME! Put my beloved cat in the ground Saturday. Had more grief to express than I could make sense of… cumulative I believe it becomes… or at least opens the place where we can experience other losses that coke to bear witness and release more along with the current grief. The perfection of EVERY word, person, interaction, feeling, etc etc,.. is all perfect - and easier to notice during such intense moments of the alchemy of releasing our grief, courageously having all the feelings we can, so that we may release and let go, again… and again… until the final letting go … yes indeed… we are walking each other home. 🌟🙏🌟

compassion for me comes in the knowledge that those who perpetuate suffering are too ignorant or traumatized to be aware of how horrible being cruel actually feels in the body. when i yell at a stranger on the street for pissing me off, it makes me feel gross inside with guilt so i apologize and use that discomfort to improve upon being present for the next time so i don't repeat that action .
we are socialized to be ruthless and competitive in this culture - the ones who cannot realize that this is wrong, or who delude themselves into not seeing it or justifying it - truly they are the ones to be pitied (from a safe distance if need be. we can offer others forgiveness while still keeping ourselves safe.)

Thank you for this. I love this definition of compassion- of staying in your heart so you can help others, and instead of your mind asking Why?? Why is this happening? - Your mind knows that all is one and all is perfect - and so your mind stays silent - allowing you to give more presence to others, more of your heart to others. How beautiful

As long as you stay in the world of polarities (happy/sad, dark/light, good/evil) you cannot experience the richness of the moment. The richness of the moment is the one that lies just behind the two.

    • @urbanet1939

      My take:
As a soul we chose to experience this world of polarities (happy/sad, dark/light, good/evil) to learn from it and be open to the richness of each polarized moment. We all play our part and roles in the world, willingly and unwillingly. We cannot escape our destiny/fate, but we can embrace it without being fatalistic. Being simultaneously aware of the richness of the moment helps us to improve our soul’s wisdom. This wisdom is the only thing we can take with us into the afterlife.❤🙏

That line really drives the message home after listening to this talk. Touched me deeply to understand what it actually means, because it's not (only) about keeping vigil with the dying. It is about what this Leela we call life is all about in any moment. We're the one undivided consciousness helping itself realize what it truly is - all of us, regardless of whether we're aware of it or not. It's incredibly beautiful. 💗

I, as a Soul Spirit, Love Ram Dass. His wisdom and teachings and insights are so soothing and helpful, just when I need them most. He is the reason I took my first DMT journey about 5 years ago., and it was one of the most profound experiences of my life. I'm ready for another one. The trip I went on last time was an encounter with other beings, who told me they have more to tell me when I'm ready. I'm here today, because of exactly this topic in this video. I've been struggling with severe depression, feeling disgusted with 'humanity', wanting to shut down, I've been overwhelmed as an empath, and seeing so much of the suffering (especially animals on the side of the road hit by cars is currently a huge grievance for me), it's just been such a heavy, heavy time for me all the way around. I'm in a cancer scare and waiting on tests, I'm basically houseless....living in a borrowed RV but now have to move, estranged from toxic family, having severe spinal issues, just lost a good friend to cancer, physically unable to do the work I've been doing (gardening, cleaning for elderly people), I can't seem to pull it together. So, I'm very glad to be here now (😉), with this message that I know I need. Thank you.

You into nonduality already? If not, it will 'save' "your" life and liberate you from all human suffering, with some time :)

@@JonasAnandaKristiansson Yes sir, been living with these realizations since 2017. A massive shroom trip in the forest showed me power and magic of existence and how all is connected, and I’ve devoured philosophical content that could help me make sense of that ever since. It 100% saved my life.

When I was very young I learned how many children died of starvation every day. I think I was maybe too young because that became my counter argument when anything bad happened in my life or to the people around me. It made the suffering closest to me seem so insignificant and petty. It got worse as I grew older and learned about so many other forms of suffering. I’m not sure I’ve ever truly grieved the loss of anything in my life; family, friends, opportunities, possessions, etc.
I want so badly to believe and live the message of this talk, to not constantly feel overwhelmingly broken for the world, to have enough space in my heart for myself and my family but I think it’s going to take some time. I’m still not sure this way of thinking isn’t just a coping mechanism. And then I think if it is, is that really so bad?

@@carineiriarte6167 One of the most amazing discoveries in my life was when I found out that a person being tortured goes into a transcendent state beyond the realm of body and mind. We could say, I suppose, that this is just another "coping" mechanism to escape pain. However, the way it was described took the experiencer & me, as the listener, to a different level of consciousness altogether. In this consciousness is the awareness of the boundless love that surrounds us all, always.

don't trust in oversimplified platitudes. life is a hell of a lot more complex than, "just be grateful".

Thank you, I have decided the only reason we can feel sorrow is because our hearts are filled with love. Without this love, one knows no suffering, no sorrow. Transform suffering back into love by understanding this concept and putting it to use. Feel your love heal and transform this suffering and give thanks to all and none for this gift of the ability of transformation. Breathe unconditional love in and love out. Thank you. Suffering will still be here but it will be transformed back into love it was once born from. I feel the coming of the ending of all suffering is closer then before. Thank you.❤

Sometimes the pain of seeing the cruelty towards animals, children, of what has happened to you is unbearable, but only if we stand in a victim point of view. I'm feeling like that today but Ram Dass' words feel like a warm hug in a very cold night
