I ordered beadlocks, wheels and link set for my 1.9 as my first upgrades. Well actually my first was an aluminum servo horn but I already had that laying around lol.
Will b buying the Wraith and I think the video has really pushed me over the top. I new. Have some on road Traxxas cars but want a crawler and this is on sale at my local hobby shop. The video and the inclusion of the part supplier ;links is great. Thank for including the links. Really helps a new guy!
Nice mods Harley! I too noticed how flimsy the front end frame tube design seemed to flex past the shock towers. When I took my 1.9 Wraith apart to swap out the servo I thought that it was a joke with the amount of flex to that entire front tubing assembly area, especially once I removed the front grill, it has an excessive amount of movement up and down once pressure is applied. I thought the front end design was odd as the rest of the tube chassis really does have some nicely designed chassis bracing and provides a fairly sturdy chassis overall! Someone was sleeping when they worked on designing the front end :-( I was thinking, that some sort of tube bracing running down verticle from the forwardmost upper tubing cross member, (the bar in front of the top of the engine cover), that could mount down to those two empty bottom holes, (near the bottom of receiver box), it would do the trick for bracing! Now if this bracing were to mount to the top of your 3D part mounts too and run through the same holes, it would complement your mount design and really box in the entire upper to lower chassis tubing perfectly! Even with your 3D bracing design, I think that upper frontal tubing sections will still flex. The only thing keeping it from moving around now is that when the grill is mounted, it can't flex too much as it comes to rest on top of the front bumper with down pressure but with up pressure it can still flex as nothing is connecting the top tubes to the bottom tubes that far up front. Just a thought, let me know what design you could come up with. I think two separate tubes, that could clamp around that upper tubing crossbar in front of the engine cover, that would run down verticle to affix ontop your new mounts might work. Those tubes would have to have a slight bend to them to align properly but would be nice addition to your current mount!
My initial plan was to brace to the top tubes. But they really don't tie into anything until further back, so it was an odd position to try and grab. The top tubes don't need to be as sturdy as the bottom since they are just for style, but I also know it could help create strength with the extra triangulation.
So, if you do come up with some additional bracing designs like I was asking about, even if just in theory, let me know. I’d be curious to have ur design input for that. I’ll attempt it anyway but your passion and insight building these things always inspires me and is often helpful. Sometimes it’s like that light bulb that goes off after years of doing things the wrong way, like the whole over filling up shocks and wondering why my good shocks leak, lol, “Gee why didn’t I think of that”. Thanks for your reply!
Nice build so far. I have changed my own to the G8 compound krawler tires and axial 8 hole bead locks. Those Vanquish products are nice but , I am on a budget!! ;)
@@carson3658 I am just getting back into the hobby. I see the shapeways link is now working purchase made. Those links are $70 shipped to UT. Like Harley said the front cage is flimsy. Especially when you take the body off.
@@carson3658 well the tires and wheels were first to go. Shocks just need proper oil first but are over sprung. Check your gear mesh, mine was probably a 1/16th out of the box. The rig is balanced well front to back. Axial could've made the battery box go all the way across. It is a good base to start with though.
@@JSAsher what oil weight are you thinking would be good , its just so springy ? At about 5.5 pounds I'm not sure what I should go with but I'm mostly crawling

I have had super good luck with my Protek servos in my race cars( 1:10 and 1:8 nitro/ebuggy/etruggy) Thank you again, always a big thumbs up.
I need that tool that is awesome!! I got the black 1.9 Wraith to I cut plug off and soldered a XT 60 plug I picked up the vanquish steering horn, I do want to do the links next I'm still watching
I had that vanquish steering horn on my old yeti it was awesome. I think is was the best looking horn I've ever had and never came loose with the clamping style.
Josh, what servo did you end up using? I recently bought this truck on sale at HH and found the servo is terrible but my go to servo is too tall and rubs on the pan hard link. All the low profile servos, I have found, are close to half the price I paid for the Wraith.
Need a little help....knew to the hobby sorry guys lol.....ok I just bought this link set for my wraith 1.9 and I need help distinguishing which link goes where (no description of any kind with shipment) how do tell which is upper /lower front and upper/lower rear links
Josh, did you ever release the print file for those braces? I could use some if you did... Happy to buy them from you if you prefer rather than taking them for free.
I just got my first 3d printer, i'm looking for any insight or tips on printing. what type of filament do you use for your rc parts etc. My goal is to start printing nylon x, carbon infused nylon. Thank for your time. Ramp-Ha's Rc's
Depends what the parts are you wanna print. For the learning proces starting with PLA is the best way. PLA is easy to print, great for bodies, scale parts, some chassis parts like battery trays. If you like to step it up like for more performance parts PETG can give good results and is still easy to use. Like on a scaler or crawler PETG and PLA will be ok for most parts. PLA+ or PLA PRO is a good alternative if you like more strength, often stronger than ABS and Nylon. This is currently my go to filament for almost all my RC 3D printing. Very easy to print. Carbon is a option for performance chassis parts for bashers, altough I have still good results with PLA PRO.
I was kind of surprised that you didn't add a capacitor glitch buster or at least talk about them to help with high power servos or don't you think they help? Thanks for the videos. Maybe by the time I get the new Wraith the parts will be in stock.
I don’t run the capacitor style, because they aren’t a full proof solution. If my ESC can’t feed it, my only recommendation is external BEC. It’s just what I’ve found to be reliable.
@@HarleyDesignsInc I was thinking it would help at least temporally until you change the esc. They are only a couple bucks, you have all those extra ports and you were already in the electronics box. Besides, if they didn't work they wouldn't put the on escs from the factory. Just my thoughts.
Nice to see that you addressed that weak point in the chassis. How long before the Vanquish solution comes out? :) Also, what BAR are you running at for the turbos. ;)
Josh, Please put this Axial Wraith Chassis Brace/Turbo Mount on your Thingiverse page. I will buy the file from you if you want. $50 with shipping from Shapeways is way over priced.

IDK if this was what the "unused bosses" were intended for but the radiator that comes with the yeti/exo lines up 100% perfect with those holes...

I would like to see a battery tray option to run a 3000mah battery. Maybe a servo winch right between the turbos?

Was wondering why the lower links weren't bent for some extra clearance? Not enough room or not in vogue ?
Just not something that is typical in scale crawling. You won’t find that commonly in full size rigs so it’s not usually done in scale either.
@@HarleyDesignsInc yeah , thought that might be the case....after all the years, does it make much a difference in your experience? Straight vs bent ?
Not without super extreme bends like we did in comp crawling, so I haven’t ran anything like that for a long time.
