His voice is my blood pressure medicine. He has such a deep consciousness and as an artist, before becoming a musician he transcends lyric & note.
Brandon Boyd is a young talented artist with unequivocal compassion, soul-stirring emotion and heart rending feeling in his song writing and music.
Brandan Boyd is just an amazing person. Apart from his dashing good looks (what woman from this era doesn't notice that?) his humility is the ultimate bonus to him being a very intelligent and talented artist. I first heard about Incubus when I was only 11 years old, & the song was Drive. That song is still one of my favorites today which I see as my life song. I love what he says about the relationship the band has with their listeners. I feel it. I also feel that the song "Dig" is based upon how they managed to be successful as a band for 27 years now. Well done Incubus & congratulations on your 8th album "8". Love you guys always ❤❤
He is beautiful & intelligent. And his voice melts me = Total F*cking Package !!!!
Agreed
You are the best lead singer still around from our generation . Thank you for being so cool and humble. And alive.
he simply loves what he's doing...
no doubt about it....
a genuine man, from the inside and out!
I wish we could hear the questions, or both sides of the conversation. Brandon is the most beautiful human being inside and out, his heart and soul are so amazing. love...
I've just been listening to him talking, and it's quite relaxing. I haven't been paying a whole lot of attention though, lol.
Brandon Boyd always has such a wonderful message. How he's managed to stay sexy over the years is amazing! Quite a talent, this one.
that hair is incredible
In my opinion, what makes Brandon so incredibly sexy is his intelligence. Being so well-spoken, Brandon's verbal eloquence greatly eclipses his outer beauty. Now, if he were also a humble, honest person with a true compassion for others, I'm gone! lol
Omg. I love him so much. ❤️
this is the most honest interview I have ever seen from a great artist, its ok to show your weaknesses, I feel the same way about how like making music and art in ur bedroom and then having to go out and do it as a job is a big transition, u work your hole life at something and than all of a sudden u have to go out and perform in front of people and try and make a living, artists are not business savy, but now a days it seems all the popular artists are either controlled by big studios or very good at internet advertising themselves and some artists are not very good at self promotion.
Im sorry to hear that ur business relationship has come to and end, But nothing lasts forever I guess, everything comes back around.
So what I'm hearing is Brandon has some good and bad moments with his manager Steve Rennie..Almost like a love/hate relationship..Through this interview Brandon was being humble and cool about his true feelings for his manager....He really seems like a great person, and a great guy!
Brandon is a true artist and gentleman. It was an honor and privilege working with him. Cheers-Ren
Nice interview. Brandon is very articulate and interesting to listen to.
Great interview, this guy is so fluent i felt like i could literally visualize the things he was describing at times. He makes me want to learn to draw xD
I love his hair!
Thank you so much for posting this video! I love Boyd's salt of the earth honesty and humility about his appreciation for his life of creativity and for his fans who support him. His advice at the end to "fly your strange flag as high as possible" is fabulous! Great interview!
This is a very very cool interview. Brandon has a very good perspective on how people think. So cool. The left brain-right brain analogy is spot on. This is a realistic view of business and art. Well spoken :)
Love that man.♥♥
watched this 3 times now and I love it
Like Drive. Drive is my favorite Incubus song. I call it my heat song. When I drive myself my life is found. If you see this comment... Thank you so much. May you be blessed with peace & love always 💖
brandon is so articulate.
damn even his choice of words to talk are artistic
Thanks Steve for guiding a great band in the direction to deliver us some fantastic albums!
Someone should do a Steve count!
I was obsessed with Brandon as a teen good to see he's still got it going on!
Wonderful Interview.. Thank You Brandon & Incubus :)
I'm glad you made it and you are happy:)
It's so cool that renman does these videos. They are so insightful and totally helpful for upcoming musicians. Pretty frickin cool!
how beautiful 💚
I've listened to incubus since the early 90's, His music and his understand and appreciation for music is the depth beyond the way people today portray music for what it really is. I've gone through a horrible down fall of things and through his music its helped me get through the emotional trend. For that I am thankful for his talent through his music. The fact you stay humble and kind through your music, makes you a true musician! I will always listen to your music and will stay a #1 FAN!!!!
2:42 " I think sometimes I drive him nuts, but I think sometimes I also drive him nuts, too.." I think he worded that wrong.. lol
@Logan Stroganoff JAJAJAJA
This guy can articulate
i think i'm going to listen to this interview a lot and then make music afterwards. So inspirational stuff on this channel.
Refreshing interview and insightful! Thanks!❤️
What a fantastic interview. Thanks Brandon for your wisdom and your intelligent creative mind. You have a conduit to the absolute x
I LOVE HIM!!
Dream it... do it! Great advice. Brandon is such a charismatic and talented man, he looks so mature nowadays. Steve is such an inspiration! Cant wait to see you all in Argentina this year!
DREAM IT! DO IT! such honesty! this band is soooooo under rated
Damn!!!!! Brandon is so fine!!!!
Love your work and the message at the heart of your work Brandon.
Your lyrics are by far the best out now. I love Glitter Bomb. I play it over and over. The lyrics in it are perfect. Lol
Sing, Paint & Surf !
Thank you for this incredible resource..
Very honest
13:45 Very wise words from Brandon
he's so intelliiigenntttt
Why?
ok maybe not .. idk nevermind --________-- i was being sarcastic
Hehehehe... a simple "why" threw you off, didn't it? He is smart in his own ways, like everyone else. Just giving you a hard time =P
oh -__-
Chris Daron lmao he didn't know what to say lol
Gettin old now i remember them way back
awesome interview, thanks for this renmanmb!
LOVE SO MUCH THIS MAN
Why would you edit out the questions? I want to know what he's supposed to talking about!
a pretty laid back dude, and my biggest singing fluence. i give him kudos for still being on the radio with incubus these days. keep rockin' out.
Very good and encouraging advice. I really do need to get "the balls" to take the next step. Brandon hits the target right on the head with this explanation, It is something I have been really struggling with the past 2 years. You cant break through to the next level if you don't go for it. I hope I find the courage!!! Thank you for this; super motivational.
Did you listen to Brandon at all? He pretty much came to the ultimate conclusion that Rennie has been the best thing for them. Plus, Rennie doesn't influence their music, he just manages the group.
if you close yours eyes. brandon boyd sounds EXACTLY like Fred Armisen.
Justin Allen LMAO thats so real.....ew
I closed my eyes and it reminded me of Jim Carrey. (A calm and serious one)lol idk the first person pops in my head. Lol
Didn't steve used to comment on their message board in like 2003 hahahaha. Wow i was the 15 year old creep that remembers things like that
BRANDON BOYD .... RESPECT
This should be called "All about Steve!"
He seems a really good person
Mmmmmm brandon boyd
11:18 "That's a cop going to get Steve right now..." Hahahahaha :)
a-ha have a 4 million plus webcast koncert.anyways just getting into incubus.ive seen em once..there on music choice so thanx comcast :) wish you were heres great
Dig his candor so hard...
love you :)
What a cool guy.
God he is fucking amazing. I will keep him as a tiny little dude in my pocket.
he is right up there with Depp!
Brandon Boyd is so amazing 💖❌⭕️❌⭕️
U should have spawned a lot allot of babies ❤ Brandon 🎉😊mmmm
Actually he's in his late 30s (he was born in 1976), looks great, and isn't aging badly at all. Stop hatin'.
brandon boyd is the only musician i have true respect for his lyrics are meaningful and their band has a prime outlook on the music industry
i feel you to a certain extent their earlier work was way more organic, but it think mourning view is perfect from start to finish....
Brandon Boyd can call me a fucking fan. Fanatic doesn't reach the level of love and respect I for these guys. Fanatic isn't degrading at all...it's surprisingly accurate.
was in bands around about 20 ... am 33 now. Too much ego was going on then, and maybe none of us were very talented or had unequal talents or perceptions of how music should work and be performed. Maybe it would have been better if I had partners that thought much more like me on certain important levels, but really, I never had anything like that in the selection people around me at that time. Now I just kinda work on creative stuff solo on the laptop studio.
sURGeyx You got that right!!! Fungus Amongus And Science Were epic as well...Science was one kick a@! produced album that is a must for every incubus fan!
lol, all i could think of was the chilli peppers when he was talking about comign and going to practice when ever you feel like it.
The Chilli Peppers are a 9-5 band. They work pretty hard. Granted they sound kind of shitty now though.
such an inspirational speech...i feel like writing music right now.
I think you gotta play what you love to play as a band. I like the Old Incubus stuff as well. However, every band that I love has music that I identify with as well as music I don't like. Fleetwood Mac, Alice in Chains, Allman Brothers, Incubus, etc...
This interview kinda validate how I thought he is.
a good person :D? Agreed
Hmmm.....Steve Rennie steps in, Alex leaves? Is that a thing?
And I am Stoned on weed :) love dude
when his phone was ringing i literally was looking for my phone because i thought it was mine
dude why does her comment matter to you? she's just a fan.
If you're one of the drainers in the comments below arguing about the integrity of Incubus, do yourself a favour. See that link to the right? The one for Morning View (full album) in the featured videos? Click it, sit back and remembered why you started listening to them in the first place. To vent all the shit and negativity you guys are creating.
Joe Lilak IS awesome- truth!
Granted, the music industry is a volatile business. However, to survive, you have to play the game to some degree. If you can manage to keep your artistic conscious while you make money, even better! I don't think all artists who play the game "sell out." Sometimes, you just have to pick your battles.
have you seen morten harket of a-ha
They've gotten older and their knowledge of music changes (i.e Mike going to Harvard, DJ Kill learning more about the structure of the keyboard, Brandon making a solo album) and you can't expect them to sound the same throughout their career. I mean, I agree with you to some level, the new album isn't my favorite, but it keeps growing on me and there is still the same "incubus" type of ingenius sound behind it. I'm just saying..."down hill" and "utter garbage" aren't exactly true.
16:10....exactly how I feel right now.
Damn I use to b in love with him
classic case of you don't need mass amounts of LSD to be artistic
What questions are he answering?
15:30.. AMEN! I`m the same way. hahaha
He was the Anthony Keidis of the 2000’s
God I wish there were more successful rock and progressive artists like this whom i admire. Instead we've got a crapshittonful of these wannabee "wrappers" and DJs so mich garbage oversaturating the music industry makes me not even want to pursue it anymore.
ELROND
Funny, right around when he says Steve became their manager is when I think their music went downhill... Coincidence? I think you first impression may have been right Brandon...
22:48 as I said.. his breathing is all about diction! lol!
34:22 seems that he doesn't regret in feeling..
35:00 that is extremely objective.. over the bounds of ego. Seem intransigence but isn't.
