    This is the GMRS handheld that we were all looking for, but couldn’t find anywhere until now. Thanks, BTWR guys.

    Follow up on my earlier post:
    After some real world experience this week, I’m really liking this radio a lot after buying it from BTWR. The simplex GMRS reception is fantastic even with lower powered handhelds, but its repeater abilities are great, too. I had very clear contact with a repeater 12 miles away and surprisingly good reception on another repeater 33 miles away. Thirty-three miles! I upgraded to the 15” Nagoya whip that BTWR offers. I’m impressed with this handheld. Great price and it’s built like a tank. Highly recommended.

    I just purchased two Nagoya antennis, the 771G antennas to go on my KG Q10G, as the antenna is now removable. I just purchased the GMRS version of this radio for a friend of mine.

    It appears that the MURS version is locked on high power on all channels. Is it possible to duplicate the 5 MURS channels and select a lower power setting to conserve the battery and reduce the distance at which eavesdroppers can hear you? If so, I'm assuming that the lower power setting would be 500 Mw, right? 🤔

    Just bought 2 today from 2-way radios.

    Does this have NOAA weather channels or could you program that into it?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  4 роки тому +5

      NOAA weather channels are broadcast on the VHF band. The 805G is UHF only, so it does not support NOAA weather channels. Although the KG-805M does not have NOAA weather channels built-in, it operates on VHF, so technically it can receive them if it is programmed to do so.

    researching GMRS vs MURS radios this year. i mean the license for GMRS is only $70 good for 10 years from what I've read. what's the benefit of MURS other than no license? less traffic on the channels ?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому

      MURS uses frequencies on the VHF band, which works well outdoors. Like FRS, it's a license-free alternative to the GMRS and business radios, but with the added ability to use detachable and external antennas, which is something you cannot do with FRS. This article provides a brief overview of MURS. www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2008/09/murs_unlicensed_vhf.html .

      @Soladaddy 3 роки тому

      Less traffic so less people hearing the conversations. In some situations this is very beneficial. VHF has better outdoor performance. 2 watts on VHF can be as good as 5 watts on UHF and with HTs 5 watts will eat the battery a lot faster.

      Yeah the KG-805G and KG-805M are "real" radios, or maybe it's more accurate to say "classic" radios. Not the radio-on-a-chip type transceivers that you see so much today. Here's an article that goes more in detail about our goals when we were working on it: www.buytwowayradios.com/blog/2019/12/introducing-the-wouxun-kg-805-professional-gmrs-and-murs-radios.html

    Can I upload a VHF frequency and just receive? Like my NOAA weather frequency of 162.400

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому +1

      The KG-805G only transmits and receives on the GMRS in the UHF band. The KG-805M MURS is a VHF radio and can be programmed for NOAA weather frequencies.

    Glad to see they have a 2600mAh battery for this radio! I am not a fan of radios or brands that only allow for puny, sub-2.0Ah, batteries. With this bit of news I will eventually purchase one or two of these for T&E.

    Is the antenna tuned to the gmrs frequencies? Thanks.

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому +3

      Yes the standard antenna is tuned for GMRS with an SWR of around 1.32 @ 462 MHz. This image was provided by Wouxun showing the SWR test: imgur.com/a/GQ87Htu

    How can I get the KG - 805G programmed if I don’t have a computer? I thought my local library computer could do it but there computers don’t have the right program software

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому +1

      The KG-805G comes pre-programmed already and is compatible with all other FRS/GMRS radios out of the box. The CTCSS tones and DCS codes can be set directly from the menu. It allows for channels to be customized or up to 128 additional or RX only channels to be added, but a PC and programming cable is required.

    How would the kg 805g work with a midland MXT275 ?

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  3 роки тому +2

      The KG-805G and MXT275 are both GMRS radios, so they should work with one another out of the box.

    Repeater channels aren't license free though right?

    • @BrianWerner
      @BrianWerner 4 роки тому +3

      GMRS requires a license. The MURS radios do not require a license, however there aren't any repeaters for MURS. They are not allowed by the FCC.

    • @BuyTwoWayRadios
      @BuyTwoWayRadios  4 роки тому +5

      No, this is intended to be a high quality GMRS radio and it requires a license ($70 for 10 years).

      @@bev8200 the company are taking advantage of the liberal consumers , while savvy buyers still buy other brands less than half this price and can use them for their Ham , Police and Fire. Small agencies could not buy them to use so why bother and gouge the consumers like this . Uv5r even works better as far as performance goes . FCC is government and designed to restrict for a satisfying use to the public. . all the questions here you can tell that the fake company used fictitious names to ask itself questions. Unlike the Baofeng and other radio you tube videos you can definite tell are true viewers .Like that claim of hearing a repeater 30 mile away like the bubble wrap generic HT's that claim 50-60 miles talking range - the consumers are smarter than your Liberal Junk products . Give it up and STOP Bran-dining the public .
