I swapped my Classic Vibe VI to ratios. Squires that come with vintage style tuners have 8.75 holes, not the 10 of modern or Graphtechs 8 to 8.25 vintage. The bushing was a half mil too small. I may order a set of 8.75s but for now i used a thin strip of aluminum tape, about an inch by 4 mil, wrapped bushings so the tap just overlapped . Pressed in, stayed. Use too much , 2 full wraps, and it will creep back out. 1.5 wraps of 4 to 5 mil of aluminum foil tape. Fit the 8.75 hole perfectly. Use a little thinner and place in middle of bushing when wrapping. Not all the way touching either rim if yoy want it to stay put. Been months and still solid. Shims the bushing with no putty, no plates, perfect match. I swear my set came missing a screw though. Feel stupid ordering just a screw. Probably should have checked if existing bushings fit. Hoped they sold an alternate set of bushings for squires 8.75 holes. 8 to 8.25 just fell right out.
Never mind I just got further on into the video and it's not that hard to modify the plate. Which brings me to the point that they have a lot of nice tools that they can do that with at the factory. So I guess I'm kind of on your side wondering why they didn't just go ahead and do that.
Thanks for being HONEST about the installation of these tuners in Squier CV guitars. Darrell Braun completely misrepresented it by skipping the drilling and the adapter plates during installation on his video and said these are direct drop in replacements. That asshole needs to be taken off of UA-cam!
The video I was expecting for a long time... Just a question do the staggered tuners come in with mini contemporary buttons or can they be ordered like that?
Thanks for the video. Helped me decide to buy a CV '50's and be confident I can upgrade to the GTRatio tuners, nut, and string hangers.
Do you guys have a direct fit plate/solution yet?
Thanks. Now I know what to do on my Squier CV Thinline.

I'm talking about the skeleton style vintage ratios.
I mean to me the highlight was the string unwinding. Ruined it with the string winder!!!! LOL. Great video!
Good timing. I just received the same tuners today.
Can't wait till you come out with direct fitting ones I have a squier vintage modified telecaster and want to replace the tuners.
PLEASE make a direct fitting plate for the 6 in line - those Kluson Vintage SELF-LOCKING tuners are a REAL PAI
N!!
Just drill the holes.

What size drill bit did you use for those holes? You never said what is was in the video.
Didn't have the staggered one , I will never let you drill in my guitar 🎸 the way you do it, and don't seem aligned more a kid job then a pro !
Never said I was a pro! Just thought I'd bring you along for the ride on some fairly simple mods on a squier! Turned out great!
Tech tip, do the screws in the back before you tighten the post bushings.
I have a Squier Classic 60s Vibe guitar. Which model of the kit do I need?
I've found this video just when I needed it the most. Btw, the tusq nut xl that you put on your CV was it a flat or a curved one?
Cheers

Do you have staggered versions?
which size drill bit?

They come stock with the mini-contemporary ones, but you can email us at Sales@graphtech.com and we can do a custom set!
@@GraphTechGuitarLabs thanks I will
This is old, do they have a set for these allusion style now?
There is! Just got them in last week! shoot us an email or give us a call!
So what are those plates for when you do not fix them with screws?
Oh, I see you did. But afterwards!?
... that's a problem: for a Strat with 'vintage' shape machines cutting those mounting plates is necessary...
10 mil or 10 millimeters?
10mm
And the back ground music disturbing !
How so?
That retrofit is it ugly!
Those backplates look hideous, and don't see the point of them
