    The bobby pin underneath to tamp down the volume is genius! Seems so obvious but never occurred to me LOL Thanks for sharing your experiences, your journey and tips! You are helping so many of us cope with the trauma of hairloss!

    Although I'm quite new to even considering a wig, I so appreciate your kindness, your candor and your experience. I feel like you are someone who is genuine and understanding - would be fun to sit down over a cup of coffee and share stories with! I absolutely love the McKenzie and the Finn wigs on you!! You look absolutely beautiful in those longer styles and I must add that you are a truly beautiful woman Denise. Your beauty shines from within! God bless you, and thank you...

    Great video! The styling tips are really helpful but the point you made at the end about giving yourself time to get used to seeing yourself in full hair is sooo important! And that family may not be the most objective with their opinions as well. Early in my alopecia journey, one of my teen sons hated all of my wigs but hated seeing me bald even more. He just wanted Mom to have her hair back and couldn’t get past that. There’s so much emotion around hair loss, for everyone. Thank you for addressing that!

    Finn is similar to my hair when I was younger. I think Becky is so cute. I want to wear a curlier style like her, but I've been intimidated. Thank you for showing this video because now I feel brave enough to give it a try.

    Finn (toffee latte) was my first wig - whoooo boy I am learning a lot with her! 😂 I have been wearing her every day, getting comfortable with it and learning about the permatease. Also, learning how my makeup and clothes work with it. Thanks for doing this series! Your contribution to the wig community is priceless.

    Hi Denise! This gets me so excited about working my way up to my dream hair. 😊 I’ve never had enough bio hair to “have fun” styling, so using accessories to style a *wig* wasn’t something I had ever considered. Unbeknownst to me I think I have always associated styling tools/accessories with “disappointment”. BUT now I can see that not only can I have my dream hair but I can also have FUN with all the accessories I’ve always wanted to play with.
    THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH for all the time and care you put into your videos. They are bringing me so much joy 🥰

    I so get what you are saying about family opinions. One of my nephews dislikes my long Orchid and Kate in a red because he's not used to seeing me like that. My girlfriends all love Orchid so I am continuing to wear what I like and feel good in.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  Рік тому +1

      YES! Sometimes we just have to do what makes us feel good and not take our families comments too much to heart. Personally... I know what my husband likes (and his "likes" have definitely expanded over the years) and so when he and I are going out on a date or to dinner I try to wear what he likes, but if we are just at home or running errands or I am doing my own thing, I don't really take that into consideration and he doesn't mind at all! Hugs!

    Denise Finn is my dream hair, it is close to what my hair used to be. I haven’t purchased her yet because I’m new to this new hair journey and have purchased a few toppers and have one Paula young wig which at first was very overwhelming but now I’m getting used to it haven’t worn it in public yet but did do a zoom call with it! The wig is Gayle which is very long and has a lot of permatease and just a basic cap. I hope to soon be able to purchase Finn knowing I will wear it. Thank you for all your videos and helpful advice! I have been following you for some time, you are so easy to watch and your videos are really helpful when it comes to everything wig related. I am waiting for delivery of my very first wig, I’ve been looking at girl mono for months recently found it with a great offer so took the plunge. This video has been really informative in helping me realise that you don’t have to just put a wig on and hope for the best, that it can be styled like my own hair…stupid that I hadn’t grasped that before. You are like a virtual friend I can come to for advice. Thank you so much 🤩🫶

    Brilliant! Thank you! I am brand spanking new to wigs & bought both the Finn & Avalon in same colour as one you're demonstrating. I love them both so much and they look great on me... but wow! A lot of hair! I feel like my entire head is ginormous. My bio is short "Becky" but needs so much product and work. Weather and bio curls is a hard balancing act & I am over it - hence wigs. I have my units on hanging wig stands to allow them to relax, have only had them days. I have loads of accessories, so going to play and adapt to all the weight on my head. This video is beautifully presented, extremely helpful & clear. You are stunning and I am off to find a Becky in Australia. Thank you xx

      YAY!!! I'm so glad you love them. I get it about the volume, trust me. There are some days it is just too much for me, and others it is perfect. It is a "mood" thing, I think. Finn ABSOLUTELY relaxes after awhile. She is must less poofy now that I have worn her a bunch. I hope you can find a Becky!!

    I am just beginning this clip and hair accessories journey, since day one I had headbands, I do love square headbands, they are just the right size for me and don't bother my ears so I bought 3 and just used that, now i am venturing to other things, I have Codi from Amore, saw your video and loved her, my hair was like that all my life so now I just pull a bunch of hair at the top since she has a double monofilament top, I pull all the hair and use an elastic, those that look like material and the same color as the wig, people see the "scalp" and I have no hair falling on my face, even with Girl Mono I am using her with a clip at the back and a head band, I was not used to so many curls, this is priceless, many people including myself feel overwhelmed by so much hair, curls look amazing on you but they just drown me out completely, thanks for your videos, I have been following you, bought that razor and it has been so useful, thanks, thanks.

    Hello Denise: I have been viewing your reviews since I started wearing wigs. I am so thankful that you take the time to share your tips. I just purchased Onda the new wig from Ellen Wille. It is a little much for me in the volume but i love the new colors she offers on that wig. I am going to try the bobby pin trick to tamp down the volume. Also I want to cut off about and and one half inches from the length. Do you have a video where you cut the length off a curly wig. Thank you so much for what you do. I have now been wearing wigs for over 3 years (how time flies) and I always look at your reviews when they are relevant to what I am struggling with.

    • @heywigsister
      @heywigsister  2 роки тому +1

      I haven't delved into cutting length off a wig yet, well.... I have tried it a few times on headband wigs and definitely need a lot more practice before I can show it, lol. A curly wig will be much more forgiving, though, and require less precision. If you just need to cut a little length off I would use the razor Comb so you don't get blunt edges. It will take longer that way but safer.

      That's a great question.... I haven't actually seen Toasted Pecan in person, but I watched a quick video and I don't think there really is a good comparison. R14/26H might be the closet as the color codes on Toasted Pecan are 18/23, but that one looks ashier than the 14/26.....

    I have a wig. That is slightly thin but then it's really long and fluffy at the bottom. It's beautiful but it's just too long for my age. And have you ever tried to cut the bottom and alsoh? Maybe maybe some kind of. Would you call feathering in it or something? I'd love to see that because I got one and. I need to try to get this one more I can wear it

      It was so important to me that the tips be easy and not require permanent changes... most of us are WAY too scared for that in the beginning

    I use bobby pins to pin through cap diagonally in the back toward nape and if a nape crawls up on me I also use a bobby pin horizontally just above the nape.

    Really interesting. Thank you. Could you put the name of the last wig you put on. I didn’t get it. 🙏

    Oh I need help with two things and the first is new dream hair with outrageous shine!!! I'm blonde and blonde wigs are blinding, and dry shampoo or baby powder doesn't dull them enough. What can be done? Should I wash them right off the bat, will that dull them at all. And number two is face hugging. I don't want a wig laying right on my cheeks. My natural hair bows out on the sides and my ears show but all wigs hug my face and I hate it!!! Help me!!!!

    I love volume, not tamping down, which ruins the wig!

      There are SO MANY human hair suppliers out there... I haven't gotten into that myself but I constantly get messages on Instagram from Chinese manufacturers thinking I am a retailer.
