Stumbled upon your video, figured i'd do a quick breakdown as i watch.
7. Moth armor- Only thing really worth while is the bleed for most builds.
6. Black Ox Armor- This set is extremely underrated, in the sense of Charged attacks being across the board. The sleek effect can be stacked for 38% charge time reduction, which is useful when paired with Staves. Maybe a usefulness with charged shot builds with the Bard Bow?
5. Fire Ant Armor- Since the nerf, the best thing about this set is the corrosion effect causing enemies to take more damage. With it being for melee builds, instead of dumping all your effort into the armor, just use the shield. The shield has a higher chance to proc the corrosion debuff, while opening up build possibility.
4. Ant Lion armor- If you prefer to play ranged and just non-stop lobbing arrows, it reduces crossbow reload from 2.8s to about 1.5s. It really doesn't have any affect on bows, so it is particularly niche, but the black ox crossbow has some of the best damage for physical ranged attacks. Mighty allows for more damage reduction while still getting the buff in reload speed.
3. Black Widow armor- This armor set is definitely a contender that deserved to be in the top 3. Black Widow Dagger, Poison damage increases, plus assassin perk allowing you to stack bleed too, nothing should be able to escape you. Just get used to blocking any chance you get! As you stated, swap the hood to the brood mother helmet. Poison, Poison Coating, Venom Coating, Bleed, and Corrosion (If you use a fire ant shield). If you want to stack debuffs while still dealing decent chunk of damage, focus the rest of your build towards Critical Hits and Critical Damage. This makes you essentially a one man army.
2. Mantis Armor- Bleed damage? Crit upon crit? The best idea is to stack this armor with daggers. The Mantis Scythe is surprising considered a dagger! With the speed at which you're attacking, you are guaranteed to crit fairly often. Trapper Peep'r and the Scythe both have Yoked Blows, The set increases crit chance, you're applying bleeds left and right. If i'm being honest, 3 piece Assassin, Black Widow Dagger for the constant attacks, Trapper Peep'r, and stack as much crit as you can and you'll be nearly unstoppable. Unlike other DoTs (Poison every 3s, Poison/Venom Coating every 5s), Bleed damage ticks every second! Combine Assassin armor, Black Widow Dagger, and perks like Assassin and Trapper Peep'r, you'll be standing in a goopy mess with how many bleeds you will be applying.
1. Roly Poly Armor- This armor is a tanks bread and butter. Applying stun on block, as well as increasing block gauge? If you're solo, the defensive bonus is enough to skyrocket this armor. In Group play, you become the designated target! You can run 1h/shield or 2h barbarian with it, allowing yourself to be a more versatile frontliner. The blocking strength paired with say... Parry Master and Corporate Kickback? You would have to literally stand there doing nothing to lose.
This is just my input on each of the sets, and i believe you should look outside of the box a lil bit. Something that may seem weaker, paired with proper trinkets and mutations, can carry you through the entire game.
Personally i start with an early Spider build for debuffs and DoT, then motivate into Black Widow or Mantis. Recently i've been playing a more tank role with my group, so Roly Poly has quickly become a favorite. If i dabble with Ranged, I have to go with Ant Lion and the crossbow. Having the ability to lob Bomb Arrows every 1.5s just feels so satisfying. For Magic, i go with Black Ox armor for the charge reduction. What says fun more than twice as many fire balls being lobbed?
End of the day, feel free to mix and match different armor sets, trinkets, and weapons to find a play style that suits you!
was all community voted dude!
@@JadePGC you literally gave your opinion on it, saying Roly Poly for example is something you would consider bad. Quote: "I know its your vote, but what are you guys doing?"
Jade it’s because the roly poly is super easy to get, all you need is the tier 3 tools and that’s it. Also you can literally take 2 or 3 combos from the wolf spider without even being stunned, epic.
it's also still the best armor in the game (i think)
Antlion armor is easier to get compared to Roly Poly armor. Antlions are easier to kill compared to Roly Pollies.
@@Antares-rt5ub nobody uses Antlion. It’s Shit
Antlion armor is trash tho
@@Antares-rt5ubred ant armor is also easier, so is every tier 2 and tier 1 armor, but they’re not good dipshit there’s a reason they don’t call the easiest to get the best in the game
The Roly Poly is just a huge amount of defense. Even soaking the damage to the face, without sleek bonus. I personally rock grub with aphid slippers always........
Definitely. It's currently my set in Whoa and I noticed a huge difference in my survivability once I had it equipped.
my go-to used to be the roly poly cause of the increased defenses, but now I'm on the mask of the mother demon + widow chest and legs as my go-to set.
I think the lady bug armor upgraded SLEEK is still the best, even after the nerf. I wish they would add more Heavy Armors and more armors overall. It's honestly kinda crazy that the Black OX Beetle armor set is a medium armor too... like you see the beetle right? It's just as tanky/bruiser as a Roly Poly.
When it comes to armor, im gonna aim for whatever fulfills its purpose. When i wear rolly polly armor i take less damage than any other armor and thats the point of armor is damage reduction
Hi, I found your channel recently and have just been binge watching all the Grounded stuff...
Although I do want to note (1. Didn't notice the antlion set bonus lol) but it is much easier to switch weapons that fast on PC with the antlion set.
Thanks for the video. you talked about your favourites. anychance you could do some builds aka everything armour weapons food mutations etc with your top armours currently as lots has changed in the last months. thanks!
one thing ive noticed now in the new update is running mantis armor with a friend running fire ant is insane, bleed basically gets 5x damage from the fire ant corrosion effect making double bleed deal around 3 bars of damage to most creatures in a second, the only downside is you need a friend most of the time as testing with swapping out pieces you cant get the extra bleed often enough without 2 pieces of mantis but then you cant get the corrosion enough so its better to just have a friend
I think the Ox armor is underrated, but only when using it with the wizard hat and staffs the charge time decrease is amazing for the spicy staff! also decreases enemy damage if you do get hit with the staffs since the blocking is so slow now.
my homie uses it and i think its a great amour set. ill let him know about the wizard hat and increase staff damage. thats a great tip.
I like the Black OX chest piece(best protection) the wizard hat and moth boots for ranged bleed. It's pretty nuts damage and not a huge drop in overall protection.
@@cygnusx-1256 I have been experimenting and except vs bosses (mostly cause you can’t lol) I find myself trying to avoid attacks while using staves, as such the wizards hat just doesn’t do enough. I think I’m liking the full ox armour’s faster charge time vs the small chance to bleed or the very seldom extra damage from parrying from the hat. (And I feel stupid purposely making myself get hit so I can use the hat)
5:22 Spear says "YEET"! lol
You see it appear back in my hand tho 🤔
I have medium size bases in different areas. When I zipline into a base I change accordingly. So my sandbox HQ for instance I will suit up in antlion armor. Wheelbarrow HQ black ox and wizard hat. Termite HQ Broodmother helm and blackwidow armor. Lilly pad HQ my dive set.
Pretty sure you said it toward the end, but I think that the Roly Poly is sufficient for those who aren't willing to grind for the other sets. After all, the game can be completed without bothering with Mantis or Widow armor, so for those who are just trying to get through, it would be the most efficient. Fire Ant would be the other good choice though for the same purpose.
I personally wish that earlier armors could have a tier upgrade later in the game, because I would have loved to used Koi armor in the late game. I have heard that the Tier itself has a great impact on defense, so you short yourself by sticking to early armors.. unless this was proven to be false?
I like the ladybug armour for that reason. I farmed black widows with no issues with it and a tiger mosquito rapier. (Also procs sticky fingers n rogue reliably) - chances are my first ever broodmother is going to be with ladybug n rapier. I dunno just how much more rolly protects but the extra healing is awesome.
No you are correct
A full defense bar on a tier 1 piece is less defense than a full bar on a tier 2 piece. Same goes for the tier 3
@@danielbabcock7004 I’ve since learned that a fully upgraded lady bug absorbs the same damage as a fully maxed rlly Polly because there’s a minimum damage threshold and both armours hit it. So while Rolly, in theory, could protect more, in practice it doesn’t. There’s an amazingly in-depth explanation of the mechanics in Reddit if anyone cares to google it.
This makes lady bug the premiere armour imho, with its healing bonus. Brood mother is stupid easy with tiger rapier and lady bug. Pop bandage, pop sticky slop, done. Just bring a spicy staff for the spawns, or a few bombs. I like using a +dmg candy with the fast swinging rapier. +15 damage per swing when you swing multiple times a second adds up.
Roly poly is my fav because I'm used to playing DPS and Tank roles, so I switch back and forth, but in this game idk why but being a Main Tank really had it's appeal to me. Being able to tank everything and bash them with a mace or axe or maul and a shield. Black widow and mantis I like but don't have yet, so I'm using roly poly mainly til I can get it. Plus nothing beats running around looking like a Centurion tanking giant bugs.
combining Roly Poly with the new block strength trinket makes shielding nuts, and with a strong one handed weapons it's really good, especially when playing with friends due to the set bonus
My favorite use for the fire ant armor is to dress up the armor dummy in the headbanger pose
I use the Rollie pollie armor for the defense, I don't go down the sleep path
Moth set in 7th place? OP imo with any bow and arrow and sharpshooter at lvl 3.
As of today, they havent patched it, but when you shoot the crossbow, the rough reload is long, but you can just block to cancel the animation, and its 60% faster, almost like using a machine gun, so shoot, block, shoot, block.
I really like the red ant armor but I don't have trapper peep.r to level 3 or 2 yet. Red Ant Armor is just insane like all it's effects are useful.
I’am playing around with broodmother mask, Termite chest & widow leggings. But for the widow fights and things like schmector I keep rocking roly poly because they can’t be poisoned. I don’t know if anyone ever tried the termite armor 🤔
Schmector doesn’t get affected by the dust I think cause he’s a boss but I’m not sure about the widow I’d recommend possibly throwing a fire ant chest piece or leggings in those fights for the chance to apply corrosive which lowers enemies defense
What armor should I aim for (easiest to get but also good), Rolly Polly, antlion, or fire ant? I have ladybug right now. I’m new to the game and have been grinding I still haven’t accessed the upper part really and the sandbox. Please let me know thanks.
roly poly. antlion is also really good but upgraded roly poly armor makes you practically unkillable
I'm a Fire Ant Armor and Widow Armor guy. Back and forth for what I need. I got the Widow armor relatively early by cheesing on the backside of Moldorc. Shoot her, run and jump up on the leaves and continue shooting her till she dies. Never made any heavy tier 3 armors.
I run Roly Poly while my bud has upgraded to Roly legs, termite king chest, and mother demon helm. He's the dps, I'm the tank - and we can both appreciate the constant stunning i get off with mother demon club level 9. He gets more time dpsing while I draw agro and we can always swap aggro if someone needs to pop a few heals and get a quick mental reset after almost going down. It's pretty nice. Being the only (?) Heavy armor in tier 3 means really good defenses, and running barbarian with bandies popped means I come out of most fights full HP - even when I start some damaged. The low stamina isn't great, but beefy green machine and cardio fan with buff lungs does a lot to help. I promise we're gamers - haven't had Mantis just yet to try out but we're getting there!
does the improved block perk from roly poly apply to 2handed parry?
There is a new debuff added to the crow feather arrows but there is no explanation yet on the game, also could you help us to find the special perk or power that the bard bow has when you have the Apex predator mutation active ? Thanks a lot for all your content and useful guides! 😊
Did you ever find out what the debuff is? I can't find the answer anywhere.
Hey what about ladybug armor no love for that that's like my personal end game armor especially if you do it with the one card that gives heal on Perris, with a tiger mosquito rapier or a sword with the swordmaster mutation because that counteracts the cards more damage taken by the mutation reducing damage of incoming attack and upgrade the armor to max to lean more into heal on block you can just keep healing throughout battles and never go down
its tier 2....
I prefer Roly Poly because I'm not all that skilled at the game XD So the ability to have some extra block is very, very attractive, especially as a solo player. While Mantis and Black Widow sets are overall better, they are incredibly difficult for casual players to get - the black widows are ridiculous with literally having no weaknesses, something I really on heavily when fighting different insects >_>
i use broodmother mask, and roly poly chest and legs
I'm doing what I call a 100%+ playthrough where I do all the stuff to get 100% from the game but I try to get every armor set, weapon, achievement, etc.
Window legs, mantis chest piece. Broodmother mask, widow dagger, apex predator, trapper peeper, coupe de grass, mom genes, mitochondria or Spivey safety depending who your up against
did u mean mithridatism? 😂
7:12 the queselda ant lion?
Personally i love the rolly polly armor cuz i play as a tank for my friends and i love how it looks making it bulky and having max heath just makes me feel unkillable and with multiple players connection issues it's really nice to be able to take a lot of damage
And on top of that it's not always fun to just abuse the meta in my personal opinion
@@adairjacobs1827 'abuse' how? is there a bug with the 'meta' sets right now?
I use the brood mother mask with the king termite with aphid slippers
So far, I like the antlion armor the best. I went with the bulky upgrade because sleek didn't seem necessary. I'm still playing through the first time. I tried the Roly poly armor, fire ant armor, and black ox armor, none of those seem to be better than antlion. I just got the upper body piece of black widow armor and I have the mask of the mother demon, still need the leggings. It's hard to see the poison affect, so I don't know yet how I feel about this poison build.
Edit: oh crap, I didn't know you had to use poison weapons with the poison armor.
Well am glad I taught at least one thing new, your right about bulky tho, I kinda neglected the benifits of using bulky for some of these now will remember for next vids I do talking about best combinations, cheers
@@JadePGC yeah, it seems like all the UA-cam videos say the antlion armor is not the best, so I immediately worked on trying different armors when I got to the upper yard. I did wear the fire ant armor for a while, I think I used that against the brood mother. It's not bad in the lower yard. But as soon as I get back to the upper yard, it's nonstop ladybird larva attacks. So yeah, antion armor works better for me despite what everyone else is saying.
Should you go sleek on Rolly Polly? The extra block vs bulky giving you massive damage reduction on top of the sets already tanky bonuses.
That’s what I said
I went bulky in my Whoa run. Definitely worth it imo. My survivability is way better.
wish u showed us the Mutations so it eazy to find
Did mother demon armour not even make it on here? I can’t see where it falls short
My friend I believe the broodmother set is best for poison and venom
I also mainly play solo on Xbox anyways, haven't found anyone really that wants to play with me in my world yet.
Roly poly armor is pretty easy to get and really strong.
Roly poly looks way better than the moth armor. Even if the moth armor would get a buff I would not use it. When I look at it I think it should have a cooking buff 🫣
Where broodmother?
I'm surprised the ladybug armor didn't make an appearance. You can literally run through the entire game with it and you can get it early.
Check the tier 2 video
@@JadePGC ahh, I didn't even see that. I'm sorry.
@@jimmyrodriguez5670 no worries man but yeah stil one of teh best armors
Ease of access + benefits
I think they don’t like the moth set because it is annoying as all hell to get.
no offencebut i think the reason peoeple like the roly poly armor is because they are ass at perfect blocking
Why when u wear the Broodmother mask your not immune to others with the same mask, I die to my friends poison in multiplayer more then anything else
I think you can turn friendly fire off
Rolly Polly is with you for a very long time ⌛️
I was surprised to see moth at the very bottom. It's better than ant lion for ranged. 60% to bleed with chest and legs, pair with Mask of the Mother for poison as well. Then with the new sharpshooter sizzle arrows apply a burn. Three dots from arrows feels pretty dang good.
But antlion armour is actually useful for the BBQ spill, and sandbox
You got the Mantis set bonus REALLL wrong Jade lol
How so, literally read what was on wiki
@@JadePGC you confused critical hit with charge hit lol
Ya could be right my bad lool it did feel wrong like why was the scyth nerfed so bad, ha well
Ah, the eternal Gamer Divide...
Extroverts struggle to grasp how introverts enjoy life- and Glass Cannon Gamers struggle to grasp the appeal of Tanking! 😅
Where is the mother demon armor
check dates of video
This game is basically dark souls with bugs. Except the attacks are a lot less telegraphed. After 200 hours, im still terrible at perfect blocking, and can't do it reliably. With the rolly polly armor, and a ladybird shield, I can simply tank any enemy in the game. The only thing that gives me trouble is the mantis. It's the ultimate armor for the casual player. If you are good at perfect blocking and you can basically block every hit coming your way, then there is 0 reason to use it I guess.
never really understood peoples struggle with perfect blocking. Everytime i start up a name game I end up have parry master tier 3 in the first 20 minutes
You just need to focus on the telegraphing of the attacks and find the timing that works for you. I'd just straight up practice on things like spiders with a lean to until you get it.
why didnt you add the ladybug armor . Isn't it suppose to be the best armor in the game . kinda rated as S tier
That is not a T3 armor.
Man doesn’t know what tier 3 is
To be honest, ive only used the ant lion armor and the roly poly armor. I currently have the mask of the mother demon on with the roly poly chest and leg parts. It may not be the strongest set, but it works for me so far. I plan on changing it out for the black widow armor or maybe the mantis. I just dont have the resources yet. Overall, Its my go to armor so far, even with the reduced stamina
I think all two handed weapons in this game are a waste of time, due to the fact that you can't hold a shield. So every time you block, you lose health. Tried them, tried to like them, but didn't. It can't even compare to a shield and one handed weapon. So that makes the Scythe useless for me.
Honestly, it’s a matter of preference. All the one handed weapons cannot hold a candle in terms of damage to the two handed weapons. Brood mother club, Scythe of Blossoms, Fire Ant club, Mint mace, Coaltana, all the Staves, basically all the hard hitting weapons in the game. However, perfect blocking makes it so you don’t lose health, so if you practice a lot of parrying, two handed weapons become the main thing you are using throughout the game
@@thearmedbandit I learned all the enemies' attack patterns by heart, to be able to execute the perfect block every time. All enemies, have some kind of a warning sign, either by sound, either by movement, that they are about to attack. But there are also a lot of cases where they attack without any kind of warning, making it very frustrating, when you want to perfect block. That's why i decided to just hold up my shield, until they eventually make their attack and then take my time to counterattack.
@@John315 honestly yeah fair. Most of it comes down to reaction time, ironically worker ants give me a run for my money, but I can almost no hit the broodmother/black widows, I actually often no hit black widows, and yet I get bullied by ants
Tank gang
mantis armor kekw. its so bad
how does 16% votes = 6th place but 11% = 5th place? what kinda rank is that 😂
I wanna try to do a poison bleed build with assassin torso and leggings and mother demon mask with brood mother club. Idk how it’ll be but I feel it could be good especially 2 constant effects of damage and the heavy hitting club itself. Anyone else have any thoughts?
Maybe widow chest since 50% extra poison dmg
First: Hi jade!
bro the roly poly sucks what kind of noobs are playing this game, You need DAMAGE
What’s the best armor in the game?
Grounded armors look like garbage
They are made of slaughterd bugs, so....
Thanks for the new video
thankyou for watchinG!
No problem
I just wear the amour that I like the look of
The best Tier 3 armor set is a Tier 2 armor set . Ladybug armor with increased healing on all sets ran with Barbarian
Works for almost all the enemies except for mantis
@@Downwiththesystem100 Works with Mantis too. I just beat that ass last night
For me the only reason why it's a really good set is because of fact that its the only tr3 heavy armor set in the entire game which means theoretically it's the tankiest armor set in the entire game sure stamina drain is horrible but atleast on whoa i dont get one shotted lol
