Live and Let die is a classic Bond for sure. The boat chase in this is legendary. Kotto is a great villain who frequently gets overlooked. I have never had a problem with Moore as Bond i think he did a terrific job. This has possibly the best score of any Bond.

Well guys, just so ya know, this week marked Roger Moore's 83rd Birthday and this was Moore's 1st Film as 007 and this was Yaphet Kotto 20 years before he found fame w/NBC's Homicide: Life on the Streets and Introducing Jane Seymour 20 years before she found fame playing the title role to CBS' Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and also, 1973 also saw Match Game return to TV and it was the version we know and love and 1973 also marked the end of Bonanza after 14 years on NBC and Soul Train had TSOP

Live and Let Die is definitely one of the best Bond movies. Roger Moore is still my favorite Agent 007. Jane Seymour was great and very beautiful as Solitaire. Yaphet Kotto (Parker from Alien), Julius Harris and Gloria Hendry were great as well.
The main theme performed by Paul McCartney and Wings was good too.

Moore in LIVE & LET DIE and THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN the best Bond ever

    Roger Moore is Dan Man.
I mean, the Speed Boat Chase Scenes were just Priceless.
and who would've thought that Jane Seymour would become famous for being a Bond Girl would end up 20 years later on the small screen playing the role of Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman and also, the song Live and Let Die would end up being remade by Guns 'N' Roses and Yaphet Kotto would end up starring in Homicide Life on the Streets and Jeffrey Holder would end up doing 7-Up Commercials, God Bless'em all. Well Done.

    Agree 100 %. I salute you.
You probably know that Live and let die got an Oscar nomination for best original song. Should have won it too. Roger Moore was a good injection into the Bond series. In the 70's they realized the 60's Bond was totally out of the time and thus made the series more enteratining and humorous. This worked because most Moore Bond movies made a lot of money and a whole generation of movie goers loved him. Today he gets a lot of underserved flak.

Roger Moore is James Bond 007,
in Ian Fleming's "Live And Let Die"!
    James Bond is back,
    and wherever he drops in,
it can mean only one thing...
This is the Bond adventure with more excitement,
    more action,
    more danger,
    and more...
    ...Much more!
Roger Moore as James Bond 007!
007 is on a worldwide manhunt.
    The bodycount is going up!
And where Bond stops to visit,
    he leaves his mark...
    ...on everything!
Take your seat and hang on...
...because Bond is on the move!
And if you miss this one,
you'll miss the most exciting 007 adventure of them all!

yeah, and that's why the producers made him do 7 movies over 12 years. FYI most of his movies made good box office so there was something that worked.
If not Moore's lighter version of Bond the genre would never have survived into today.

Just watched this movie again, and I gotta say I find a really enjoyable bond flick. I thought it was a bit boring and weird the first time I saw it, but all in all it has a decent story plot, good action scenes, good villains and a very hot chick. Not my favorite among the Moore ones, but it`s good. And kinda unique cause it`s the only bond flick with supernatural undertones..

[Adam reaches for his gun but Sheriff Pepper draws his first]
Sheriff J.W. Pepper: UH-UH! Spin around boy!
    [points at the car]
Sheriff J.W. Pepper: Ten fingers on the fender.
    [Adam complies]
    Sheriff J.W. Pepper: Legs apart.
    [kicks Adam's legs apart]
Sheriff J.W. Pepper: I take it this ain't exactly your *debut* at this sort of thing.

Eddie: Boy, where you been all your life? That there's one of them new car-boats.
Sheriff J.W. Pepper: By the powers INvested IN ME by this parish, I hereby do commandeer this vehicle and all those persons within!
    [spits and looks at Eddie]
Sheriff J.W. Pepper: And that means you, smartass!

for the audience yes, but I consider Dalton's both Bond's way better than ANY of the 4 Brosnan made. Sadly Dalton's Bond was some 15 years ahead of time.
Thank God for the reboot. Should have been made long ago.

Felix Leiter: Captain, would you enlighten the Sheriff please?
State Trooper: Yessir. J.W., let me have a word with ya. J.W., now this fellow's from London England. He's a Englishman workin' in cooperation with our boys, a sorta... secret agent.

Actually he was 44, since it was shot in 1972. Not to mention Moore looks like he is in his mid 30's and not 44 at all. Timothy Dalton was TOO YOUNG and declined On her majesty's secret service being only 21 at the time.
I agree Dalton should have made A view to a kill, and he was better than Brosnan too.
Remember that back in the 70's and 80's Bond was supposedly the same character we had seen in Dr.No.

Roger Moore was a bit like Pierce Brosnan - he had one or two good outings, and because he was never much of a believable tough guy, when he got old, it just got ridiculous. At least Brosnan had Goldeneye. With those 2 I was always waiting for the Bond girl to show up and bail him out. With Dalton, not so much panache, but more like the Fleming books. Moore and Brosnan were comic book heroes come to life.

Bond is too intelligent to be racist. He is a survivor and therefore he must judge each man individually. In these older films the stunts are more exciting because they are real not CG cartoons.

Moore was 46 in this, I have no idea why they didn't try harder to get Timothy Dalton, he would have been a great bond for 20 years.
