Ive used a bright light to defend myself when someone tried it on with me at the gas station. Its great for disorientating, allowing you to have an advantage. Bright flashing light in our face makes you get defensive , you cant see your hands

In the dark the flashlight is fairly effective as the one who has the light in the face will have a hard time acting. You'll be taught this in security classes/education, if all you got is the flashlight or flashlight and baton, the combo is fairly good 1v1..

Be careful with the laser, cheap ones are often extremely over powered, and you can damage your eyes by just looking at the dot on the wall

Strongly advise caution with that laser. Chinese lasers are usually not within a safe range for your eyes and the fact that you can feel it on your skin means if it ever hit your eyes it would mean lights out forever aka permanent blindness. Styropyro dose cool videos on them but also dose a good job explaining just how dangerous they can be.

Yes, this is true and something to be very cautious about. This kind of tech is usually used in the military, for precision marking to airplanes. Its super strong, very precise and goes really long. That one looks like a 2km+

I was honestly scared for a second when he was trying to get it started... if the beam hit his goggles than it would have been OVER.
When he was flipping it around so willy nilly, it was obvious he had no idea what it actually could do, and I got _suuuper_ nervous. Definitely one of the issues I have with wish is that lack of regulations, that would make it GLARINGLY obvious to anyone who buys the tech, if it's dangerous. They can also sell you products like this for super cheap, in a LOT of instances, because they didn't pass the safety standards of the company or country they were originally made for. Scary.

Lasers like that are extremely dangerous but very fun. Most like that are substantially more powerful than what they are listed as. That one is probably somewhere between 500mw to 1w which is 100-200 times what is considered safe without eye pro

Pewds you should be careful with the lasers on wish. They sometimes blow all security ratings, so you can actually risk permanently blinding Marzia or yourself. The googles you get with the laser don't always filter the correct wavelength, meaning they can offer no protection at all from that particular laser.
Edit: As someone pointed out, the reflection of the laser in a metal object or window might even be enough to damage your eyes.
Pretty sure that model will permanently blind you even if you don't get a direct hit in your eye. Use proper rated eye protection and properly rated equipment. Also don't point it at your camera lense lol

The fact that it was burning his hand from a second of putting his hand in the way of the beam, means that one is powerful enough to vaporize the cells that transmit light to your brain as vision.
So "good" as in high power, yes.

Flashlights are actually super useful in self defense, if it's strong enough even during the day, because you can easily (completely) blind an assailant. Giving you an absolutely tremendous advantage. Even more so because they'll stay blinded even after you shine in their eyes or inbetween, for vital seconds and in the (near) dark even really long.
Trust me, even in the dark (unless it's absolutely isolated, of course, but how often is that really?) you could see a little, still making a big difference and in that case for quite long.
