Great video. I also had an issue connecting a Tecsun AN-200 loop antenna to a C Crane radio. When I plugged it in it had zero reception through the loop. I’ve read a lot of great reviews about the Eton Elite Executive and most people comment about great MW reception. I’m thinking seriously about purchasing one.
Gorgeous radio, rugged enough and with a bit of effort you'll learn how to navigate the menu system. But unfortunately for me at least, it does cover the NOAA emergency frequency band - bummer!
They cleaned up the distortion. My unit with the latest iteration of firmware and works distortion free on SSB USB/LSB functions, oh ya, and works 100 percent better than the new Eton Satellite HD.
Nice video. I actually sold my Xhdata D-808 in favour of the new Eton Elite Executive. Both pretty much the same radios but I prefer the Eton's display and paging system. Btw, in SSB you could've used the fine tune mode to make the voices sound more natural but I guess you know that as you mention it later. I just wish they would do away with the mute on tuning with these DSP chip radios. I've not noticed any distortion in SSB.
@@47Hobbies From what I've read it's embedded into the DSP chip. These companies seem quick to bring out new models but slow to listen to customer feedback. Everyone hates mute on tuning! Easy enough to disable it on my pre DSP radios such as the Sangean ATS-909. At least the newer more premium portables such as the Tecsun PL-880 and Sangean ATS-909X have it disabled.
@@47Hobbies Have you found the sync useful on this radio? I find it a waste of time and it rarely helps. I've used the excellent sync on both the Sony ICF-2010 and Tecsun PL-660 previously. I'm not sure why Eton bothered with it!
There's 4 settings for the backlight, low medium, bright and off. But if you tune or are scanning the backlight it always comes on bright but turns back off after a few seconds. The only time when one of the brightness settings work is when you're idle on a frequency
Hobbies I have the Eton Elite Executive with mw lw fm air ssb SW ima not happy with the fine tuning on ssb it does not work on ssb the air band is low and when you tune around the bands it mute
Not sure, do you have batteries installed? Are they rechargable batteries? If so they could be going bad. Also there is a world clock, that could be getting accidentally changed
I bought this Eton Elite Executive, from Amazon, USA, sometime in November 2021. It has been working fine, till a few days back, when I found there was NO sound. The dial lights up, channels and time are stored, and all keys functioning, but there is no sound. I did a factory reset, by long pressing 1, and quick pressed the reset button, still no result. All stored channels and time zone…are erased, still not even a scratch of sound. Please help and guide me on trouble shooting, I hope there's nothing very serious, Thanks,

It's a wonderful little radio but a bit complicated for an old man like me who's just starting in SWL. Still love it though.
Thanks lad. Great content. I've the same radio. The instruction on the DIY antenna was very helpful. 👍

stellablade Thanks! I wonder if someone will fine a “anti mute mod” for these.

I don’t see that it works most of the time, although I don’t particularly “listen” to SW Stations I mostly use it for Ham and UX Monitoring.
@@Radio_Activity Have you tried tuning lower or higher for the SYNC ?
I find very minimal distortion on SSB.
can you lower the setting of the LCD lighting of that radio? its annoying to see all those other text that are not being used.

I have been playing with this for a few weeks now and what I notice is that the time keeps changing. Am I doing something wrong?

Have you tried plugging in headphones to see if any audio comes through?
