Everybody's trying to be my baby Beatle reaction. This song by the Fab Four reminds me so much of Elvis Presley.
He probably was an influence when writing this.I'd be pretty much surprisedif he wasn't.
    Enjoy this reaction.

George sings this carl perkins tune. George was a huge perkins fan. I' ve always felt this was a great lead guitar performance by george. I have read that george had a cold when it came time to record this which is why george martin laid so much reverb on his voice.

Well, Elvis covered Carl Perkins too. One prime example is "Blue Suede Shoes". Carl was in the studio when they recorded this and "Honey Don't". George and Ringo joined Carl on a TV special in the eighties and performed both songs.

Recorded on Oct 18 1964 in one live take. George then double tracked his vocal. This day also saw the start and completion of Kansas City, I'll follow The Sun, Words of Love, and I Feel Fine. They also completed Eight Days A Week and Paul's organ solo on Mr. Moonlight. This 9 hour session was required to complete the LP, Beatles For Sale. The Beatles were booked for 2 shows on Oct 19th in Edinburgh Scotland. So the album had to be completed by the end of the day on the 18th. George sang Everybody's Trying To Be My Baby as his number on the Beatles 1965 world tour. Have a good one Hari, RNB

Lead is not John but George, before George upped his vocal tone and smoothed it out in later years, such as in "When My Guitar Gentle Weeps." This was a cover the Beatles did. They did many covers in their early career. I think George did a good job with it, both in singing and with guitar.

I have a great suggestion for you Harri..... In my (and many others) opinion, the early Beatles best song cover is Please Mr. Postman. I think you should do a review of it by first listening to the original Marvelettes version, and then listening to the Beatles cover, all in the same video review. I think you'll be impressed what the Fab Four did with it.

But i like what you just suggested and will start incoporating that when necessary.

In the fall of 1964, in the height of Beatlemania, they fell short of originals for their fourth album "Beatles For Sale", due to the prior activities, such as touring, TV-shows, filming of "A Hard Day's Night" et.al. The album had to be finished quickly in order to be put onto the market before Christmas. So they decided to include six of the covers, they would have done at the "Cavern Club".

Although the Beatles were doing a cover of a song credited to Carl Perkins, a stablemate of Elvis' at Sun Records, the song dates back to at least the 1930s. Here is the earliest known version by Rex Griffin, who in all likelihood did write the song: ua-cam.com/video/bHOK0YSjBU0/v-deo.html

This is a cover song. The Beatles were big fans of Carl Perkins. You might consider doing some deep reading into the early Beatles and finding out about their influences. For example you would find out one of the big reasons John and Paul started to write music seriously was because other bands were singing the same songs. I really do not see the Elvis connection as this is very country whereas Elvis was more pop. It is George Harrison singing. Phew. You really need to study the Beatles more so that you are speaking with knowledge.

    • @HarriBestReactions
      @HarriBestReactions  3 роки тому +1

If you have a good ear for music, you will see the Elvis connection. Some things can't be learnt by reading..its a feeling, talent, knack or a hearing gift.
For example none of the Beatles were formally trained musicians.
I have since learnt here that Carl Perkins wrote Blue Suede shoes from.comments here.I have also learnt that they were all at the Sun Studios together..That my friend is the connection.
And finally, one of the reasons i'm doing so many Beatles videos,is to learn about them.Even if i read about the Beatles, its impossible to know eveeything about them. And i DO read about them😀
PS Elvis did do country..had strong country roots/influences and was not a pop artist.Phew..You see how easy it is to be wrong now?

Harri, you are on the wrong lane here. It has little to do with Presley. This C&W-Rock'n'Roll standard was a long time part of the Beatles' concert program and was one of the songs, that George Harrison was allowed to sing live. And yes, the Beatles were big Perkins fans and also covered his classic "Matchbox".

    • @HarriBestReactions

This is a Carl Perkins song. He, Elvis, Johnny Cash and Jerry Lee Lewis were "the million dollar quartette" in the 50s. Carl said they put black gospel together with country music and increased the tempo creating "rockabilly." Carl also wrote "Blue Suede Shoes," a huge hit for him. He gave it to Elvis and after Carl's record was finished with his run Elvis released his version. I believe its actually George singing. There is a fantastic video of Carl Perkins and Paul McCartney talking and picking on their guitars. They had history and were great friends. Look up McCartney Perkins and you will find the hour long show. Its really touching. Carl died soon afterword. Cheers to you, Harri and have a really great weekend, my friend.
