Wow......he is known by family and friends to be a sweet, kind gentleman; very warming of him to have done that for you. I haven't been able to process his passing yet.....he seems larger than this life, and still here to add color to dreary canvases.

Comedians are very thoughtful individuals. I have a friend that sent Doug Stanhope a message on Twitter, saying how much of a fan he is and that he was going through a hard time. Doug responded with “What’s your number?”. So he sent Doug his number and was called almost immediately. They spoke for a good 2 hours about everything. Pretty cool shit.

It’s great that even his voice is a gimmick. The 80s Groucho was awesome I remember Groucho on daytime tv and it’s a perfect. Plus it’s very norm Macdonald the way he pushes it on longer than you expect.

Gilbert does a dead on imitation of Bela Lugosi. I heard it and almost drove into a car in front of me. He also does an old Yiddish man which is by far one of the funniest of all time. I don't know who he is mimicking but it doesn't matter. It is hysterical. Even when he just laughs its funny!! He is great.

If it’s “most” it’s like 60% or something I don’t think it’s like this super subtle thing he’s making it out to be, like really? Most American casual or otherwise Beatles fans wouldn’t know who’s who if it was just voice recordings and no visuals? I mean if that were the case people would always be confused as to who is singing Paul or George or John, but that’s never an issue even for non Beatles fans I bet

Penn actually ends up doing Gilbert for the last 4 minutes and it's not on purpose, he's actually becoming Gilbert Gottfried. At times it's difficult to tell who's talking. Just an amazing guy.
What's funny is he use to do impressions in Howard's studio in the presence of billy west who usually remained silent, billy is probably the best voice actor of all time behind mel blanc
It's not a contest, but you have to put Frank Welker at the top, followed by Jim Cummings. Billy's up there though, the next tier down has a huge like 15-way tie. he's right there with Tom Kenny, Troy Baker, all of those guys.

Back in the early 90's there was an appearance on Howard Stern where Gilbert did his John Lennon while Robin was reading the news, and he kept talking about May Pang, and it just kept getting funnier and funnier and it is the only time I've ever had to LITERALLY pull off the road I was laughing so hard I couldn't continue to drive. I've looked everywhere and can't find that appearance! It was pure comedy gold!
Gilbert & Richard Simmons were always my faves on Howard Stern, way back when. It was always like this: Gilbert & Howard always having fun, cracking each other up and Howard having fun at Richard's expense. Back in the early 90's there was an appearance on Howard Stern where Gilbert did his John Lennon while Robin was reading the news, and he kept talking about May Pang, and it just kept getting funnier and funnier and it is the only time I've ever had to LITERALLY pull off the road I was laughing so hard I couldn't continue to drive. I've looked everywhere and can't find that appearance! It was pure comedy gold!

That is the worst John Lennon and George Harrison impersonation. I’m sure it’s funny to Americans but is doesn’t really sound like Scouse to anyone else. It’s not as bad as Dick Van Dyke trying to do a Cockney accent in Mary Poppins, that was gawd awful. But you haven’t nailed it I’m sorry.
