He just talked like Dice in his own Gilbert Gotfried voice, which, if you know anything about Gilbert, is not even his natural speaking voice.

I know what you're saying, but I watched it live, and it was just as funny as it is now. It's just kind of hard to believe that something like this could have aired on "terrestrial" television. This was not even a cable show back then.
Hard to believe Howard Stern was once part of something so funny and unique.
Gilbert Dice Gottfried was fantastic.
Howard has been involved in so many fun and unique events. His 90's birthday celebrations were always a hit. They also had a short film contest held in a theater that was very interesting. People see Howard today and think he's lame but they dont give him enough credit for his creativity. He's also a 70 year old man, people change with age.
He was simply one of, if not, the funniest guys in history. Loved you since forever Gilbert.
He is really missed. A very painful loss.
It's hilarious to me that old HS show clips are all over youtube. Yet nobody bothers to look for them unless they are actual fans from the 90's. Any Millennial would have a coronary watching this stuff.

I'm as big a Gilbert fan as there is, but he was just recycling jokes that have been around for a while...it's his utterly singular delivery that makes them fresh and hilarious. Gilbert is the roast king.
He literally did the same exact thing *every* time he was on Stern. Rabbi character, Dracula, fucking Groucho. Then just pure racism. If he was holding back any good material he wouldn’t need to rely on the Uncle Remus voice. I guess the bit is that he never came up with any new material? You can see why the general public didn’t even think of him as a comic.

He literally did the same material every single time he was on the show and never updated his act. He literally did the exact same thing as Sal: rely on saying the N word in various iterations. He was wildly racist, even when he didn’t need to be. There is a reason the general public didn’t even think of him as a comic. No one under 45 enjoys this.

Agreed. There was some "magic dust" sprinkled on that show, because it should have been a spectacular failure. The low budget production values actually elevated it's impact, it gave the show an "underground", subversive edge that made it seem like you were watching some kind of "outlaw" production that you shouldn't be watching.

Channel 9 show was great. It was Howard at what I think was his Prime. All of the supporting cast was great. And all the other characters. That was a good show.

I agree. Howard lost his mojo after Artie had his meltdown after the move to Sirius. It was the combination of that and the lawsuit that he filed against them relating
to the Sirius and XM merger. All he did every day was talk about the damn lawsuit and I got sick of it and cancelled the subscription, this was probably around 07 or 08.
He thought he could "phone it in" and get by, but I wasn't going to give him money to listen to him whine because he was only a few hundred millionaire when he thought
he should be a billionaire like Oprah. When he got himself back together, he "went soft" and started concentrating on kissing Hollywood ass and transitioning to
"mainstream", going on that facocta AGT show as a judge, etc. Despite his "bad boy" image and irreverence, he always craved being accepted by the A list
and when he finally achieved it he cashed in his credibility for cash. Hey, he's laughing all the way to the bank, so good for him.

From the days when Howard still had testicles....a glorious time.
I have been stressed and riddled with anxiety because my daughter's mother has been in ICU for over a week now but was very happy to find this clip. I mean the second Gilbert walks out waving that cigarette I was already laughing out loud. Watching the whole clip had me laughing the whole time way into the night and next day at work. All of these now politically incorrect jokes, without swearing, had me in hysterics. The one about the transgender people only understanding half of the jokes by the gay comedian even had Gilbert breaking out of character. Such a motley crew of misfits and oddballs being hilarious without concern if anybody was getting offended. That's what true comedy is. Making fun of everyone including yourself. I'm sure the sale of that label maker skyrocketed after this airing. Non stop hysterics in a circus of mayhem! This is the Howard Stern I will always remember. Thank you for keeping this posted and bringing much needed laughter and comfort in my time of need.
