the stuff about The Chosen being asociated to the LDS church is a false rumor. the creator and director of the show has made many public statements about that and he is very clear there is no association with the book of Mormon or anything they teach. the primary source is the bible but there res some creative liberties taken for character development. also i think we have a pretty good idea about what jesus looked like form the shroud of turin, all evidence points to it being authentic and thus not a graven image, its almost like a photograph of the resurection and the face on it is clear and was used in as a reference for some of the earliest painting we have of jesus. ua-cam.com/video/aSWCb8eDT-k/v-deo.html
If you worshipped that image it would still be idolatry seeing as we are meant to worship Jesus' divinity. Not his flesh.
The Shroud of Turin is a forgery and only popularized by the Catholics to show that they have the monopoly of relics. In fact, no genuine Christians would ever hang their faith (including their knowledge on how Jesus looked like) on that forgery.

The claims about the Chosen's relationship to the Mormon church are exaggerated as far as I have heard. They do have a nominal professional relationship but not a "parent company" type relationship. And the supposed quotation is not in the book of mormon.

Hey @Redeemed Zoomer, I just wanted to give little defense/compromise for presuppositional apologetics. I would say that presuppositionalism is actually a great tool to use, especially in conjunction with a classical apologetics approach. I say this because as you have stated before, when debatting/discussing with a nonbeliever(especially an athiest/leftist) you can't really argue them into believing, but you also added that before they can come to believe they need to be shaken in their "faith." I would say that the presuppositional approach is ideal and best to first shake a persons "faith" as you show that they have nothing to stand on apart from God. After this, a classical approach is the way to build a logical case and easy to follow case for God and Christianity!

I don’t even think Martin Luther believed the Lutheran view of predestination.
I think Luther's "Bondage of the Will" is actually closer to the Reformed view of sin and free will actually.
Thing is, a lot of Lutheran doctrines would later be articulated by Philip Melancthon, and his views on salvation and predestination seems to allow much more room for human free will. He (Melancththon) and Calvin argued about this on occasion, and Calvin notes that "Melanchthon seems to concede to man some share in his salvation", since he wrote, "Let us accuse our own will if we fall, and not find the cause in God".
Calling the Saints part of the Reformed tradition makes no sense to me. People like St. Catherine of Siena and St. Thomas Aquinas tried to Reform th eChurch, yes, but under the Pope and helped the Pope regain some of his power before the Council of Trent.

I grew up in the Church of Christ in small-town Texas. Still go there to this day. I would describe it as baptist, but ultra-conservative, very strict, and very very old fashioned.
Amazing people, and I've known the pastor my entire life. He's an amazing person, and a beautiful soul :)
They have a very active congregation in my town and they seem to be super old fashioned Baptists to me. They have some quirks. They don't use instruments other than voice in singing. There's a big potluck after service. A quirk they have is they discourage dressing up for church and here, tell people to dress in regular clothes on the idea that they don't want to shame poorer people. A lot of their congregation are ex drug addict and ex convicts, poor people, etc. and they're very locally active in charity. Pretty standup congregation. As a Baptists, they make me think they're more what Baptists should be rather than the prosperity gospel stuff in my local area.
When it comes to weird beliefs. I think Orthodox's rejection of Original Sin just makes me blue screen and red ring simultaneously. A lot of Orthodox dogmas are like that but the rejection of Original Sin is the one that sticks out the most.
It makes sense, we are not born sinners, but immediately we start sinning. It actually makes no sense to say you have sinned before you've even made a choice.

Calling it a “rejection” of original sin is a little disingenuous. We don’t reject that Adam sinned and humanity fell as a result. What we disagree with you on is the consequences of original sin. We view these as coming from the result of humanity being cut off from God, our source of life, through each individuals propensity to sin and reject Him. The only cure for this is Gods grace delivered through Christ.
As far as I understand, the only difference is that we don’t see that a fundamental change in human nature occurred as a result of the fall. Humanity has become stained, damaged, diseased, whatever you want to call it as a result of sin. But not changed from one thing into another thing.
The whole insistence that there was a fundamental change that occurred isn’t in the Bible, it’s just an application of Platonist philosophy. Which we aren’t huge fans of over in the eastern church.
Well, they believe in Ancestral Sin. I personally never really cared as long as they believe that humanity still needs Jesus.

I am not sure if you will read my comment but I will post it anyways. I am also a young zoomer Christian. While I understand wanting to take back the mainline, with mass exoduses like ECO, PCA, OPC, and EPC from these mainline Churches like the PCUSA, I do not think it is feasible. Maybe if everyone went back to the PCUSA all at once but I do not think that is going to happen. I know that it seems from just looking around that the mainline is the more historic, fancy churches that are just about everywhere that isn't always the case. I think that if someone really wants to root themselves in the Presbyterian tradition, one only needs to look at the ARPC or even the RPCNA, which are a very old Presbyterian denominations. The OPC can on occasion have a more liturgical and traditional service. All this is coming from someone who grew up in a schismatic reformed movement and eventually converted to Confessional Lutheranism. God Bless you in this most worthy endeavour to take back the mainline!

God knows who will choose Him. That's the answer. Him knowing your choice does not remove your choice. Me knowing that you will go on a diet in the future does not remove your choice to do so.

I came across your channel only a few days ago and have been really enjoying your videos. However, I don't think drawing lines between different christian movements is a good thing to do. Christianity is in decline and it's becoming more difficult for more people to find, come and stay in the faith. I equally think that delineating sects as heretical etc. due to stances on social issues (e.g., being gay and in the church) will only go on to hurt matters. Unless you have that experience you'll never know the difficult in balancing or choosing "the right" and I think its a miraculous thing when people identify as christian and believe despite the vitriol that they might face -- even if the end product is a different type of christianity to what you may be used to.
Homosexuality is a perversion and its practice is a sin. If you "identify" as gay, and do so openly and proudly, it is equal to someone claiming to be part of the body of Christ and being a "proud wrathful person" or "proudly greedy". You cannot be part of the body of Christ if you are unrepentant and even believe your being in sin is a good thing. It is antithetical to the message of the Lord Christ and the Scriptures. Such things MUST be condemned. That is how you save the Church. Acquiescing to culture will only dilute and disintegrate. We must not be of the world, but of God.

I can't be the only who noticed this, but the answer to "what is your testimony?" at 9:33 was "yes I have a testimony" which is not an answer to the question. The follow-up question of "who told you about Christ?" was "no one, I was just impressed by the character of Christians at a Christian music camp." This is also not an answer to the question. What people really want to know is why you were at the Christian music camp in the first place. Did someone tell you about Christ and invite you to the music camp? Did your parents become Christians and brought you there? Did you go to the camp on your own or with a Christian friend? Where did you first learn about Christ outside of the camp, or was the camp your introduction to America's most popular religion?

Presby pcusa here! What is blasphemy in the Bible Eg. like Jesus was accused. He claimed to be God and claimed to be able to forgive sin. The Holy Spirit convicts the heart of sin it basically tells us that stealing is bad but when we blaspheme the Holy Spirit we are saying something the Holy Spirit says is bad but we say it’s ok. It’s over righting the Holy Spirit and only the reprobate do this. That’s why it’s the only unforgivable sin because without the Holy Spirit there is no regeneration or perseverance.

I see no words of ousia or triune within the scriptures that you hold as core beliefs from men and councils you yourself would admit are not scripture. I see no passage where Christ makes clear that all prophecy and scripture have ceased, i see men like Paul who even after christs work was done continued to have prophecy and revelation. "Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods” ’? If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be set aside- what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’?"(NIV)
Let's break down what he's saying. "Gods" or Elohim, doesn't quite mean 'God' as we understand it in English. Elohim can be used to describe angels, judges, kings, false gods (Like Baal or Ashtaroth), or the One True God. Elohim is the word for "Thou shalt have no other gods before me", the word for magistrates in Exodus, the word to describe Satan in 2 Corinthians, etc. If you get the idea, it means a major authority figure, be it human, angelic, or God himself.
So Jesus is saying that if the Scripture, which the Pharisees themsleves understand is the Word of God, calls either the wicked humans or wicked angels 'gods' then is it not right to call the perfect, loving Messiah the Son of God? That's what he is saying there. He isn't making the claim that he is no different than said humans or angels. Rather that He is infinitely more deserving of that title, yet is being accused of blasphemy for claiming it. This is why the Pharisees tried to kill Him again after He got done talking (39).

Christian nationalism is an odd term because one is a statement about your theological beliefs and whether or not you follow the teachings of christ, and the other is a political statement.
1 Peter literally starts off with how we are predestined. It's not in the typical sense of the word like Calvinism teaches. We aren't chosen to be saved. We're chosen because God looked into the future and was like "aight cool, dis one gets saved. I'll choose him"
Peter, an apostle of Jesus Christ, to the strangers scattered throughout Pontus, Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, elect according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ: Grace unto you, and peace, be multiplied.

I don't reckon you can draw that conclusion. The only thing that the Ἐκλεκτοῖς definitely tells us is that the Lord God does make the decision to give a number of individuals and/or groups faith in Him when they choose to seek Him (according to the typical meaning of ἐκλεκτός according to Strong's 1588). Whether He had chosen already before their creation to eventually give them faith, or decided based on their future to give them faith, is not clear. It's not clear, either, at least to me, if there truly is any difference in these two alternatives. It can also be argued, on the other hand, that Peter is using "elect" to imply "favorite", as is possible, thereby calling those particular churches "most esteemed", or some other compliment. I don't reckon that's it, though.

If Mary stayed a virgin after Jesus was born, then why don't isn't Joseph held in higher regard among Biblical figures? Speaking of God having a sense of humor, I think one of the funniest jokes in the Bible is Genesis chapter 31. The punch line is in verse 35. It's a very, VERY Jewish joke. Even when I explain it to people, it still goes over most people's heads.
Baptists see the Lord's Supper as a sacrifice of thanksgiving to God, they are also keen to emphasise that it is not the offering of a sacrifice which makes atonement for sin. Could some people have more free will than others? CS Lewis characterized himself as "the most dejected and reluctant convert in all of England", and if my sources are to be believed, Saint Patrick was similarly unwilling. Yet some clearly still reject God.
It seems like this is a way to square 2 Peter "The Lord is not slow about His promise, as some count slowness, but is patient toward you, not willing for any to perish, but for all to come to repentance" with "It would be better if [Judas] had never been born".
Regarding Israel's role as God's chosen people, I don't embrace yet I don't fully discount the idea that they are still part of some sort of plan. The Revelation 7:4 144,000 are specifically identified as being members of 12 of Israel's tribes (RIP tribe of Dan) and there's no indication that this is symbolic. But a more compelling point is that God made a covenant with the nation of Israel. This covenant was not based on faith, righteousness, circumcision, or anything like that, but instead made His covenant to the seed of Abraham (the Hebrew people). While the Hebrews certainly turned their backs on God numerous times, God certainly has never and can never really break His covenant with Israel. Now I'm not saying that some number of modern day Jesus-rejecting Jews will automatically be saved based on their heritage. The Bible is clear that "no man comes to the Father but by Me [Jesus]" (John 14:6) So I really have no idea what to think of the whole situation to be honest.

Okay, but if predestination by God is the only way you can avoid eternal burning in hell and God just passively avoids you, then that still doesn't mean it's ok. How evil would I have to be to see a semi heading for a child and not do anything about it? The same we are God's children, so how evil does he have to be to just ignore us as we go straight to hell.

Except that’s not the correct analogy from a reformed view. The correct analogy would be: All of humanity decided to rebel against God and throw themselves into the ocean until they drowned and died. God selected some of those people and brought them back to life. How is it unfair that he didn’t resurrect everybody? Remember, reformed people don’t think sin is a disease, we think sin kills, and all of us are dead in our sin. The point is none of us deserve salvation, so the fact that any of us were saved is a blessing.

That is not the only requirement for being a Christian. You must also believe that the Lord Christ rose from the dead, bodily, on the third day. If there was no resurrection, there is no Christianity. There is also a lot to the phrase "Jesus Christ is the Son of God"; what is the Christ? What, exactly, is meant by "son? What, exactly, constitutes God? These are important questions to get right, and getting them not right can very easily lead you into heresy.

I understand that you will fight for your Christian denomination but the Ortodox faith is the closest to The early Christians since it maintained the Tradition of the first Christians and The Bible also Ortodoxy didn't change anything from The Bible(like some branch of protestants did) or The Tradition of old Christians(like Catholics did with the pope)
