Although they come in plastic frozen fruit and veg (esp. Chopped) helps avoid food waste because they don't need to look perfect like the fresh ones so the imperfect fruit and veg gets used.

Frozen veggies are also flash frozen which results in smaller ice crystal formation. Smaller crystals = less mushy texture.

I have slabs of bark and a small stump instead of a carpeted cat scratcher. My cat loves it. Zero cost, zero waste, biodegradable.

Stahlbush island farms sells frozen veggies (idk abt fruits) in a completely biodegradable bag. i've seen it at Berkeley Bowl in Berkeley, California.
"Stahlbush Island Farms was one of the first companies to switch to BPA-free processing and packaging materials, and in 2010 they worked with a packaging company to develop a 100 percent biodegradable freezer bag to replace the polyethylene bags used in their frozen products." (Food Alliance blog)

if you are forgetful its more sustainable (in my opinion) to buy frozen produce in a plastic package, because i know i will forget about it and food waste is a big problem too.
