I am also a bit surprised that the music used to score this video was not completely period music. The theme from Little House on the Prairie? Perhaps it would have been more prudent to get permission to use clips from the show. I found this to be very lacking.

Children had to grow up fast, especially on the fringes of the frontier where dangers were always present.

They never would have used a piece of wood that large in a cooking stove. Small pieces allows one to regulate the heat when baking. I have heard that green wood burns hotter. The bread mixer would be clamped to the table. The Bible was read at school too in those days when they feared God.
