I was browsing youtube for a super simple recipe of chocolate and stumbled upon your video. I made only half a batch to eat by myself, (and it took me a whole of three minutes to make) and oh my god this was sooo good. gonna make it again and maybe sprinkle some salt flakes on top, or crushed hazelnuts. I can see so many uses for this recipe! Thank you so much!
I just tried but I used 1/3c of honey to sweeten little more. It Came our good I wont buy store bought chocolates anymore thank you for this amazing recipe😍😍
I love it! really do, I never drop by at any chocolate section of supermarkets they are overpriced, following this simple recipe made me save money and satisfy my craving in chocolate, I also add chopped almonds and walnuts terrific!
Delicious! I never knew making my own chocolate could be so easy! This saved me from the horrible processed chocolate binge I was about to have. Thanks for sharing!
I tried it but it wasn't successful. When I poured the cocoa powder into the pan with heated coconut oil and honey, it became solid. It doesn't look like a glossy chocolate syrup like yours I don't know why. I followed your advice to have a low fire so the chocolate wont messed up, but that's what happened
First attempt was a failure, guess mostly because the oil was on more heat and because of which the coconut oil separated from cocoa mix. Now on my second attempt it came out well, but still had that coconut oil flavour, and as you have suggested melted it again and added a bit of espresso and it tastes great. Thanks
I love this video! This is what I am looking for. I was just disappointed with some videos showing on how to make home made chocolate in a very wrong way. This one amazed me. I give you thumbs up and you got me as one of your subscribers. Well done!
Never thought about home made dark chocolate is super "clean", no additives/chemicals... I can even twist the sweetness! Thank you! I'll definitely try it. Btw, also wonder how to make mint dark chocolate.
I have chocolate bar moulds. Is it possible to not use honey while making the mortar and to add raspberries on top of the honey-less mortar to make a filling?
HealthNutNation Thank you. I tried it with the honey as I was unsure if it would work without. I only used 1 tbsp of honey with 100g of cacao powder and 100g of coconut oil. It was too bitter for my liking but others (including my paleo girlfriend) enjoyed it. Thank you for the reply.
can I use liquid coconut oil ? , is vanilla extract important? , my honey is always at room temperature and is liquid ? I'm sorry I know I have asked a lot of questions but your recipe is the best compared to others
Yes you can use liquid coconut oil, and room temp, liquid honey is great too. If you do not have vanilla extract simply omit (leave out). You'll barely need to heat this since it's all liquid to start.
Tuesday Villi Yes you can, although you'd have to experiment with the exact amount. Try one to one ratio to start with (so as much sugar as you'd use if you were using honey) and reduce or increase from there. Let me know what you come up with!
Does it keep it's form like normal chocolate or like other recipes I've tried does it melt at room temperature? Also how you melted the oil and honey could that step also be done in a microwave?
+MultiCuriouskitty Yes, it can be done in the microwave, but needs to be done very carefully or it will burn. I'd just melt the coconut oil in the microwave, take it out and add the honey. If that all is melted then just try stirring in the other ingredients without microwaving further.
+HealthNutNation Thank you also your recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon of vanilla for flavour could I use peppermint oil instead to make dark mint chocolate?
Can, you use another type of oil like sunflower oil or vegetable oil, cooking oil?And if you don't want to use honey, can, you use regular sugar or half cup sugar sugar and 1 tblspn honey only?
Hello Alison, is dark chocolate 65% or more comes from raw cacao or you have to mix raw cacao and cacao butter ?, I'm confused I need your help, I'm trying to make homemade dark chocolate from scratch to get 65% or more dark chocolate , I would appreciate your help. Thank you Sam
This is perfect my daughters friend is coming over tonight and is vegan and the local grocery store is closed today so I can't get chocolate for s'mores TYSM!
Same thing happened to me. I even melted a tbsp more of coconut oil and added it...It still wouldn't liquidfy..so I melted another tbsp of coconut oil and added it...still no go
I have made a recipe very similar to this. Love the simplicity of it, without sacrificing on health. The only problem I find is that the chocolates melt to the touch. I also put some in a container once, ran errands with my 4-year old and by the time we were done, the chocolates melted everywhere. Are there any modifications I can do to prevent it from melting so easily? Also, I've considered experimenting with cocoa butter, but have yet to do this. What health tradeoffs would there be if swapping out the fats from coconut oil to cocoa butter?
Kate- Yes, it does melt easily. I live in the Northwest, but if you live where it's warm, it could be a mess if it's left in the car or counter-top! I would suggest using cocoa butter. It's much more heat stable and won't melt. The reason I use coconut oil is because it's less expensive and most people can get it easily. Whereas cocoa butter is more expensive and not readily available just anywhere. I don't know the ratios, but if you give it a try please let me know how it turns out. As far as health trade offs go, Cocoa butter is healthy, and I wouldn't hesitate to use it. Thanks for you comment!
Hey, i totally loved these chocolates after making it but they're little gooey. After taking them out of the fridge they didn't harden up properly. I also kept some in deep freezer but that didn't help too. My chocolates didn't come out of the tray and i had to dig in too much to take them out. What should i do to avoid this?
_Is the cocoa powder sweetened or unsweetened? I tried this with unsweetened power, but it was totally bitter so if it was the powder, I'll change it._
what's the purpose of coconut oil? to harder the chocolate without putting in the fridge? we have here cocoa butter substitute, would be okay to use it cause I'm in the hot climate /county
hello I'm a trainee pastry chef learning by hand so I love your recipes but I tried to make 5 recipes from homemade chocolate each time I been having issues with it clubbing or to greasy do you have any details that could help
Well it's like your recipe but It came out clobby and very grease so I substituted the coconut oil with lard, shortening, vegi oil and I got the same results to dry or to greasy so they didn't taste right
+mouseyjeff17 Well chocolate can definitely be very fussy. If your heat is too high, it won't work. Chocolate works best with pure cocoa butter or coconut oil. Lard, shortening and vegetable oil will likely get you a chocolate sauce, but not anything shelf stable. (that being said, mine usually needs to be kept in the fridge or it gets soft.) Less oil is usually better than more, so start with less than the recipe calls for and add a bit more at a time. Hope that helps!
+Sharon Hader Hmm, that is a very good question. Carob can be a different beast entirely, but it just might work with the amount of oil. If you try it please let me know how it turns out!
Hi.. Your recipe so amazing. This is what I need. But, can I replace honey with... sugar? how is the measurement for using sugar? and should i cook it into caramel before I mix it with another ingredients? Need your answer, please.
+Yan Putra - I have not used sugar, but if I were going to try it I would just replace it 1:1 for the honey, melt the coconut oil and sugar together in the pan and stir until the sugar dissolves and proceed with recipe. Let me know how it turns out if your try it.
+Tyrell Dabreau Coconut oil hardens when exposed to cool temperatures, so if you want a sauce consistency then you can use any oil. If you want to pour the chocolate into molds and have it stay solid then use coconut oil, cocoa butter, or possibly butter.
Hello !!! May I ask, can this chocolate be chopped for chocolate chip cookies? Commercial semi sweet chips don't melt at room temp so I was curious if this recipe does. From what I'm seeing on most of these vids homemade chocolate has to be kept refrigerated. Thank you. Very nice video.:o)
Tonithenightowl This chocolate doesn't typically melt at room temperature, however it does get soft, so I don't think it would work as a chocolate chip. That being said, you could refrigerate it, chop it, and then freeze the chocolate pieces and throw them in the cookie dough right at the end. If you try it, please let me know!
Here are the ingredients:
1 cup cocoa powder
½ cup coconut oil
4 Tbsp. honey
½ tsp vanilla
3-6 drops liquid stevia (optional)
Ling Deng thanks
is coconut oil or coconut butter?
thanks
Ling Deng Grammys butter
Ling Deng thanks
I love the flavor of the virgin coconut oil! That and chocolate go so well together! You can also add a touch of cinnamon.
Good idea! Planning to replace vanilla with cinnamon powder
I was browsing youtube for a super simple recipe of chocolate and stumbled upon your video. Never thought about home made dark chocolate is super "clean", no additives/chemicals... I can even twist the sweetness! Thank you! I'll definitely try it. Btw, also wonder how to make mint dark chocolate.
Is it important to add vanilla?
can anything else be used in place of coconut oil??
I have chocolate bar moulds. Is it possible to not use honey while making the mortar and to add raspberries on top of the honey-less mortar to make a filling?
I'm not sure your chocolate will come together without the honey, as it adds a small amount of liquid. Try it and see what happens!
Do we have to cool it first before putting it to a molder?
coconut oil or coconut butter
are they both the same and applicable in making dark chocolate?
can I use liquid coconut oil ? , is vanilla extract important? , my honey is always at room temperature and is liquid ? I'm sorry I know I have asked a lot of questions but your recipe is the best compared to others
Yes you can use liquid coconut oil, and room temp, liquid honey is great too. If you do not have vanilla extract simply omit (leave out). You'll barely need to heat this since it's all liquid to start.
Can you tell me amount of each ingridient in table spoon or tea spoon

Is there a substitute for coconut oil
I have made mine it came out nice and yummy
really very nice video....but is it compulsary to add vanilla
can i alternate sugar to stevia? If i use sugar how many cups should i use?
Tuesday Villi Yes you can, although you'd have to experiment with the exact amount. Try one to one ratio to start with (so as much sugar as you'd use if you were using honey) and reduce or increase from there. Let me know what you come up with!

+mouseyjeff17 I'm not sure I understand your question. Which 5 recipes? All different, or the same one 5 times? My recipe or others?

+Nurul Fakhrina - It lasts a long time in the refrigerator. At least a month.
Thanks for the video! Are you able to add almond milk to make it into a milk chocolate?
Yes, you can, just know that it will turn into a ganache at that point and won't solidify in the fridge.
Thanks!
My 🍫 chocolate became grainy. What to do. Please reply
can we use simple oil rather than coconut oil
