I was driving a Gama Goat and its got a 3-53 Detroit 2 stroke and your almost sitting on top the engine in that vehicle, I made it about 50 yds and I HAD TO GET ear muffs on, and I am already about 30% deaf! Loudest little diesel I have ever heard!
Swamps are never good spot to be in when beaver have been there they make tunnels and that is what gives way if it is cold enough all you have to do is drag a bushy spruce or balsam fir tree thru your trail and wait 2 nights and it will freeze solid and any spots that doesn't freeze limb trees in that area so it's like corduroy and you can go like crazy and don't be afraid to keep widening the skid trail .I cut a huge tamarack swamp in northern Minnesota many years ago by making trails with my John Deere 440 a tree skidder it's a lot heavier than your tree farmer and less ground clearance but I just kept going and I got done with the whole swamp on the May 1st that time and the swamp was still frozen and the high ground had thawed and dried out. Excellent video it's nice to see you out in the woods
Thanks for the info Clyde. This is a weird spot, its actually a flooded pasture thats mainly gravel, the beaver bore channels in it and they are deep..i just managed to find the only rock in the whole place....id like to ditch it and fill the channels and return it to its original state someday.
Loud enough that you could never steal logs from the neighbour. Our neighbour runs a 671 on his mill so we know how many hours of sawing he gets done in a day, from a full mile away

@@rollingupmysleeves I can understand that beaver are extremely destructive to fields and wetlands
Awesome! its good to see your growing too!
Thanks!
The two stroke joke is making music
That is a real ATV.
lol, no doubt about it.
Those beaver trenches can be a pain. We had to fill a couple with logs to make a bit of a bridge when we were out exploring on wheelers last fall.
Ya id like to tidy that area up
Take that machine away he can't run a wheelbarriw
lol, come get it Randy!
Love the old screaming Detroit diesel
Oh ya me too!
Have you sold your Clark skidder?
Yes I shouldnt have but this smaller skidder doesnt mess up the bush as much
Man she sounds good.
I know eh!
Make it work for its living! Glad the beavers work was not too much for that ole machine.
Pretty crazy the amount of work that machine has done since the 60's I you think about it eh
Great video of a very close call. What RPM are y’all running the skidder at, sounds like it’s about to explode. Lol
Pretty sure its about 2500 rpm
Think its a 2 stroke diesel they all are like that
It's a Detroit 3-53 two stroke engine ,I believe Louie said in a previous video. Detroits have the nickname 'Screaming Jimmy' for a reason.
@@DougsMessyGarage oh ok I’ve heard of the Screaming Jimmy but I think that’s the first time hearing one
Yes thats what it is - should be "deafening jimmy"
That Detroit sound😍
Sounds great eh!

lol
@@rollingupmysleeves I love it
what is the model and number on the skidder, great size.
Its a C5b I think. detroit 353 powered
I thought you were in good a couple of times but I guess with a monster winch in the trunk ya’ tend to be more adventurous lol
yes but thats dangerous - your only as brave as the length of the cable - and mine wasnt long enough lol
I love skidder action!
Gotta love the skidders!
Nice one! If you don’t mind, what did you pay for this skidder?
well i can tell you what i have into it lol. probably about12 to 13k now....ill make a video on what to look for when buying a skidder next....
You won't be pulling wood out of there, that's a hell of a spot. Need a deep freeze.
ya pretty bad lol, i got a crawler loader stuck in there once...dirty
God I hate those detroits. Good motor, but so freaking loud. I've worn headphones and ear plugs and your head still aches at the end of the day!
Ya I agree I turn it off when I get to the cut. I think ill swap my perkins into it
Pucker time with Louie and Ky!
I think every day is like that with us.
How she like the revs bud lol
oh ya you gotta wind these ones out!
Damn thats a cool skidder 💪💪
I like it, nice and small.
