Another fun fact: According to the book, “it takes ten months for a seed to germinate, ten years to sprout into a sapling, and another ten years for the tree to become fully grown”
in the actual book, there is no future society or Ted or O'Hare. The entire plot is just the Oncelor and Lorax's story, with the ending being the Lorax talking to the reader about how you should care about the environment. In this movie, they added Ted and this whole other plot to basically symbolize that reader (in this case he listened to the story, not read) learning how to care.
Lorax: I speak for the trees. Me: What they saying. Lorax: let me see. Trees: Ahhhhhh! IT HURTS, STOP CUTTING US DOW-. Lorax: Um... They don't like it.
@@HolyNamedthere’s no way he hasn’t. I can see not watching the lorax or Horton but 0 chance he hasn’t seen the grinch. I wouldn’t believe it if he was wrapped in wonder women’s lasso🤣
"I am the Lorax, and I speak for the trees. Though I fear what they say, for they speak in Vietnamese." (Edit) The book was basically the flashback, without the songs or animal buddies. It was the Onceler showing up, cutting down the trees (which summoned the Lorax.) The Lorax begging him to stop, as he pointed out all the damage it was doing. And then iirc, the Onceler finally stopping. The Present in this movie is Original Material for the movie.
@@oliviarandom1688 i used to have the DVD growing up lol. And haven't seen it in yeaaaaars, I just hope if he does react to it . The copyright would be fair cause it's alooot of good music
One thing I will always say about the Lorax is originally it was planned to be a very different film with a lot darker and more grim characters as well as different songs. Songs that genuinely I reccomend checking out many of them are amazing and the song that eventually turned into “how bad can I be” is infamous for being a masterpiece
I watched this in middle school in a Pre-Engineering class and I don't remember why lmao. Anyway, Movies I need Seb to watch: -Penguins of Madagascar -Ice Age 3 -Nanny McPhee -Barnyard -Daddy Day Care -Are We There Yet? -Turbo -Monsters vs Aliens
Your animation recations are my favourite! I don't trust anyone who doesn't have an animated movie in their top 10 list I'd recommend 'The Bad Guys' or 'Mitchells vs the Machines', they're the same style as puss in boots 2 and spiderverse called 2.5D, combining traditional and realistic animation techniques and are really good!
While this movie is whatever there's an unused song on the soundtrack called "Biggering" that was replaced by "How bad can I be?" (The meme song). The song has a much darker tone & shows the oncelers greed & how much he was aware with what he was doing & how much he didn't care. Its overall better in my opinion painting him as a true corporate villain who regrets his decisions later down his life.
I watched this movie once when it first came out, thought it was cute then i showed it to my 2 year old this past year & he was OBSESSED with it so i watched it plenty of times & realized it’s one of those movies that has a deeper meaning for adults to understand but innocent enough for children to enjoy & i really appreciate those as a mother 😅 but seriously this entire movie hits spot on to reality in a cute way my son and I are now obsessed with Horton Hears a Who! it’s so cute, funny & really good! you’d love it
26:37 - When you watched I, Robot was the Robot the main character? How about Space Jam, were you upset that they weren’t eating some new galaxy preserve? No. Just because the title is The Lorax, doesn’t mean he is the main character at all.
I musta read this book to my kids 100s of times! We all love this movie, won't lie I get choked up every time the Lorax makes the circle of stones around the first trees cut down.
they had to take out a song called biggering it was how bad can i be before it was that song and it was too dark for kids you can find the song on youtube
I'm not saying this movie is better than people think by any means, but can we all just agree on something: The scene where the last tree fell was the best scene in the movie. It has all the same impact that the original animated short did and then some.
Ah yes the Onceler - the OG tumblr sexyman. Personally thought everyone was mad for that - every time I hear Ed Helms’ voice all I can see is him sitting at that piano, tooth missing, in the hangover.
This movie is really all over the place, and has a lot of added stuff for length. I recommend you watch the animated short film from the 70s at some point. Or ya know... read the book. So much better than whatever this film is.
In my sincere opinion... you really have to watch The Devil wears Prada! I love your inputs and comments and I think they would be a marvelous addition to the movie. Also, if you're interested in reacting to movies not that extremely popular: Collateral Beauty, Patch Adams and Your Name (Anime) are some of my favorites. They go deep, give you the feels and aren't thaat easy to predict. As I've noticed you are quite good in predicting stories, I offer (sorry english isn't my mothertongue, swiss fan here) you the possibility of watching the Umbrella Academy. I love predicting stories, but that series makes it very hard, without being totally illogical. You just really have to watch several episodes, before you start to understand. :D And pls just ignore the third season of it.
Illumination really took the bite out of the original story on this one. It goes from the original's message of the serious consequences that come from a lack of personal accountability and the excuses people make for the sake of pride, and turns it into a soft story about someone just being a little silly and getting carried away, oblivious to the harm they're causing. It basically ends up taking a piss on the premise of the original.
Idk if anyway missed this detail but once we see the guy who cut down the trees his beard was formed and shaped just as the lorax which kinda makes since bc he gave the kid the last seed to make things right. Kinda is a nice detail😊
You should totally listen to the scrapped villain song "Biggering". It was the original version of "How Bad Can I Be", and honestly would've been so much better.
Day 225 of asking you Seb to please watch the Adventures of Tintin movie (2011), it's very good and would recommend you to look more into Tintin in general if you are not so familiar with it. There is a lot of interesting history behind Tintin.
Knocking down the wall showed everyone how much damage was caused without the trees. They saw the environmental damage themselves. Ted showed them that things weren't perfect in Thneedville.
The fish are harmonizing because they're hummingfish. And no, they are NOT supposed to be able to walk around on dry land at this point in the story. They're supposed to do that when the water becomes so polluted they can't live there anymore.
I’ve watched this as a child, didn’t get it as an 8 year old. Watching it now for a second time with you at 20 years old. I’m (not) proud to announce, that i still don’t get it 100%🥰
You gotta watch Nims island, it’s not a very well known movie but I loved it growing up. It’s highly underrated in my opinion, I feel like you would enjoy it.
As Schaffrillas described quite well, The Lorax is a Shark Tale kind of Illumination movie with so many layers to its awfulness and so much to criticize that it becomes a “so bad its good” movie. Flawed as it is, the one thing this movie is not, is boring

A few fun facts about this movie:
-it’s based off of a book by dr. Seuss
-the girl with red hair is voiced by Taylor Swift
And a thneed was original to the book
Another fun fact: According to the book, “it takes ten months for a seed to germinate, ten years to sprout into a sapling, and another ten years for the tree to become fully grown”
-Audrey (The girl with the red hair) and Ted(Theodor)’s names are based off the author of the book and his wife’s names, Theodor and Audrey Geisel
Fun fact- there is another song in the soundtrack that didnt make it into the movie because it was about corporate greed
Audury i think thats her name is voiced by taylor i couldn’t believe it
