    Notes Week Ending July 13
Harvesting after a period of nice weather and before a forecast for rain.
    Greenhouses:
Running drip a lot in dry greenhouse beds of basil and noticing a slug eating the radishes that I had planted to attract them away from the basil; realizing that I should have planted more basil all at once rather than planting a first succession in one greenhouse followed by a second succession in the other greenhouse (it might not have been practical because I was relying on lettuce in one greenhouse to fill in for slow lettuce growth out in the garden) and harvesting 2 oz bags instead of the usual 3 oz bags in order to have enough for all customers, but still not enough to contact the restaurant.
    Lettuce Mix:
Deciding which Salanova lettuce patch from which to harvest this week and deciding to do a second cut on the second patch NE7A Red & Green Salanova total 20 before harvesting the third patch NE6A which were from struggling starts; harvesting to add to the lettuce mix NW1A(2) Baby Chard for a second cut, but deciding to only get a portion of it and harvest the good leaf off the NW1BEast three rows of Red Tabby spinach that had bolted straight to seed, also harvesting NW1BWest two rows of Frizzy Lizzy mizuna for bunches because it was too big to include in lettuce mix, cutting the plants above the crown in hopes of getting regrowth; later hand-seeding NW1BEast Fire Fresh baby chard three rows of 20 feet between the original spinach rows, and Jang-seeding NE7A mizuna three rows on the east and spinach two rows on the west; harvesting from the same single row of GH2S Ruby Red Orach and wondering if fiddly harvest of orach and baby chard is worth the time or if I should sell only red & green lettuce mix by itself.
    Garden Greens:
Harvesting NE9A Collard and big leaf from NE9B Dazzling Blue kale plus NE8 Toscana kale west row with plans to use unsold leaf to freeze for winter, and also harvest NE10 chard, checking bin boards under all three greens beds to capture slugs, which have begun to live under wet boards; noticing only the occasional crane fly under row cover and noting that some crane fly larvae still exist in soil at same time.
New Harvest Peas & Herbs plus more Green Onions and Garlic Scapes:
Harvesting for the first time this season just a few bunches NE3A parsley and NE3B dill (unsure of bunch size & pricing), deciding last-minute to sell NE1 sugar snap peas which are starting to plump up and putting them in snack-size bags because it was only a 4-pound harvest; harvesting the remaining bed NW5 garlic scapes to determine ~10 pound total available from one bed over two weeks, then start harvesting more scapes later from NE6, selling as ~2-pound bulk or ~8 - 10 oz bunch, but interest mostly in the bunches; harvesting green onions and noting that there is only enough onions for next week and the second patch of green onions will likely not be ready in time for the following week.
    Misc:
Move germinating soil block trays ~July 11 from house to outdoor table of green onions third batch and cilantro second try; Friday wake up to two SE wooden 2”x 2” fence posts broken off and deer prints in sand but no garden damage indicating deer possibly ran into fence after being startled or chased.

Thanks, I really need some new shirts without holes! Foxgloves are probably my favorite flowers too along with sunflowers when they're huge and loaded with seeds 🌻😊💛

wow looks like it was a super tiring week. Hopefully you get a chance to rest. Happy you got the rain you need, hoping it will be usefully spliced with sun, too :) Yay for peas and foxglove!! And thanks again for twin faun sightings

I was tired and cranky this last week 😬 I lazed around all day today and hopefully I'll be more energetic this coming week. Man, we have a forecast for rain all week long. I might be wearing my scuba suit to harvest this time. I was super happy to finally be able to put peas into our salads and fresh basil for pasta and pizza. It's been heavenly!

Hahahahahah! You look like you've hit the wall at the end there! Sorry for laughing. It must have been a very hard week. I love that you've got such a nice variety of veggies this year! That must be really nice. Wow! Wonder what went on to knock those posts down! That's very unusual even though they're "janky" as you say. Hope that's not a regular thing in the future. Luf the lil dear deers. Hope you got some nice rest sweet pea. And enough rain and then some sun. ❤

I was pretty done done done by Friday evening 😄 Relieved that everything went pretty well in the end. Yeah, I'm loving the new stuff in the garden including the dill and having sugar snap peas again. I'm looking forward to harvesting my first zucchini 😃 It really looked like a deer came barreling toward the garden running away from something (sometimes the neighborhood dogs will chase them) and didn't see the fence and ran right into it. I saw deer prints in the sand. If the purpose was to get into the garden then something would have been eaten, but nothing was touched. I hope that it was an isolated incident. I've been resting all day, and it's been really nice. Luf You Nonner 🤗💛
