After a gruelling month of preparing Nandji 2 ready for the big year of sailing, we are finally up to the point of Sailing! We wave goodbye to Thailand and check out of the country for the last time and begin the sail, first south to Langkawi and then WEST!
With the new rig on, this is our first test sail and after putting the sails back on, are greeted with a lovely breeze on our back quarter and get to really have some fun sailing! NEW RIG, NO REEF BABY!!

Smiles all around, Yosh was high as a kite with glee from rigging, sails and love of his family. Bonita you look so healthy and happy and Talulah is so much like you full of delight and vigor for life. Glad you are able to get the boat to the way you want so you can enjoy your life rather then endure life.

What a beautiful sail as you departed Thailand with a nice easy passage following all the jobs you’ve accomplished, your smiles say a lot as you now look forward to waters you’ve not travelled yet. Love your channel, have watched for a while now and I think your channel tells your story and adventures in the best way. So honest but fun and enlightening. How ya'll explore ports and share those adventures I always find so different and unique. When you two were at the 5 star jungle resort and also that tour of market on the train tracks are some of my favorites! All that hard boat work is paying off, Teak deck and the boat is a beauty!! Ya.. good luck with that. Now the most all the finish has come off my cap rails I am going to sand them smooth and load them with teak or boiled linseed oil and keep oil on them every month or so and see how that works out.

Oil, lots of hand rubbed coats. No build up, no peeling and easy to maintain with additional hand rubbed coats. I like TipTop Teak.
Yosh, been watching a long time and really enjoy your videos. I am, however, a complete novice when it comes to sailing. What is reefing? What do you mean when you say you have gotten to the first or second reef? I think it has to do with the amount of sail you have out actually catching the energy of the wind, but I’m not sure. In the future could you do something to better explain to this landlubber who has sailing in his blood what’s going on. Much love and respect to all of you.

On teak decks: Leave as is. Clean with salt water spray. Do not brush. Fresh water will cause it to dry out in the long term. It will turn grey. If you do not like that, use linseedoil very now and then. Most important is to keep the wood relatively wet. My teak deck survived 40 years and still in good nick. Ans so do the fretboards on my guitars after 50 years. ( Those were in linseed oil)

Hi Bonita, have you ever considered trying an electric multi function pressure cooker? It cooks dry beans and rice in less than half the time as the stove top method and there is no need to soak the dry beans ahead of time or overnight. It’s a great alternative to stovetop cooking since you should be able to run it off your solar power while conserving your propane as a backup. You can also make yogurt, boil or poach eggs, sauté veggies make soups or curries, use it to pressure can small jars (see instruction manual) or use it as an all day slow cooker. The other advantage I see, it would enable you to buy your dry goods in bulk while saving on space and weight from canned storage and waste, plus you can more carefully control the ingredients in your foods. I use the less expensive Insignia brand rather than the more expensive well known brand and it has served me well for the last four years. All the best to you 😊⛵️⚓️

Boiled Linseed oil for the Deck, coat every month or so. Done regularly it won’t take very long stick it in a spray bottle and a rag.
