      Problems with this list-
      1) Why is Brutal DM placed in the late 80's? Technically some of those bands formed then, but it was not until 1991 that 'Effigy of the Forgotten' and 'butchered at Birth' came out. That's when it began.
      2) Why is Devourment placed in Brutal DM? And why no Slam sub genre? Which is where they belong. Devourment did not form in the late 80's LOL.
      3) DeathGrind came about in the late 80's (Symphonies of Sickness) so why is it placed late 90's?

The riffs here are taken from real songs and has been slightly changed, here's the ones I recognize:
0:06 Early Influences -> Possesed - The Exorcist
0:37 Florida Death Metal -> Death - Leprosy
1:27 Swedish Death Metal -> Entombed - Left Hand Path
2:20 Brutal Death Metal -> Probably something from Effigy of the Forgotten album
2:42 Doom Death Metal -> Probably something from Brave Murder Day album
5:16 Techical Death Metal -> Atheist - Unquestionable Presence
5:56 Progressive Death Metal -> Edge of Sanity - Crimson
8:04 Avant Garde Death Metal -> Gorguts - Obscura
9:14 2nd Wave of Technical Death Metal -> Necrophagist - Stabwound Blood Incantation - Slave Species of Gods
    Amazing video as always!

What I love about death metal is that it has a lot more variation than lets say thrash. My theory is that a big part of it has to do with the vocals. There’s no death metal without growling, but the music can be brutal, fast, jazzy, technical, doomy +++, but thrash is very much defined by the riffs. There are no thrash metal without thrash-riffs, but in thrash the vocals can be both melodic and/or agressive.

As someone who has been listening to Death Metal since the 80s, this was amazing. Death is one of my all-time favorite bands, with Scream Bloody Gore being my favorite Death Metal album, but others referenced that I love are; Deicide, Cryptopsy (who's band members I know personally), Dark Tranquility, Kalmah, Cynic, opeth, Cattle Decapitation, Fallujah and a couple not mentioned that I LOVE are Slugdge and Fulci

tbh the current era of death metal is my favorite. With bands like Sanguisugabogg, 200 Stab Wounds, Chthe'ilist, Ulthar, Ascended Dead, Blood Incantation, Creeping Death, Ripped To Shreds, Tomb Mold, Necrot, Vomit Forth, Morbific, Gutvoid, Black Curse. Not to mention the OG bands still going strong and still releasing albums to this day

Half of these ain’t even good lmao where’s Limbsplitter (devins other band from sanguisugabogg) Stabbing. Putrefying Cadaverment. Brutalism. Regurgitated Entrails. Vomit Forth. Nemesism (members from Guttural Secrete) Church of Disgust. Mortal Wound. Fleshrot. Seep. Possessed Entity. Fulci. Korpse. Wretched Inferno. Gutless. Impure. Incinerated. Miasmatic Necrosis (more on the goregrind side but still some death influences) I highly recommend all these bands. Only good ones there are Vomit forth and Black Curse. Also not a popular opinion but I take NYDM any day over Florida DM. Suffocation. Internal Bleeding. Entorturement. Repudilation. Afterbirth. Pyrexia. Dehumanized. Morpheus Descend. Brutal Truth. Mortician. Clitorture. Embrionic Death. Cannibal Corpse. Baphomet. Banished. Skinless. Immolation. Malignancy. Winter. Revenace. Imo New York is absolutely peak when it comes to Death Metal

For my high school buddies and I, Death, Cynic Napalm Death and Carcass were absolute staples. Once we discovered Focus, our grades went up through the roof and then onto John Coltrane, Pat Metheny, Mahavishnu Orchestra and all that grindcore of its time. Listen to Meeting of The Spirits by MO, or One Word. Just headbanging and mindblowing energy! That's what Paul Masvidal and Sean Reinert dug, and of course they brought galaxy-brain to Chuck and Death around Human time. Good times. [circa 2005 when we discovered it all]

There are two variations of death/doom, IMO. The one, more gothic metal, that you covered and. And a much, much more murky style with bands like Winter, Disembowelment, Runemagick, Hooded Menace, etc. I would say that this style is also closely related to "Findeath". I would argue, that some of heaviest bands ever play this style.

Sick video! Can you post a listing of the covers? I think I heard The Exorcist and Leprosy in the beginning but got lost after that 😂

Every bit is original, but they all intentionally sound like precise reference tracks I picked up as heavily representative of each death metal subgenre and yep: first 2 bits sound intentionally similar to the exorcist and leprosy

Black metal/death metal is always on my top tier list of music to play with friends even though some of the bands have actual evil in them like Mayhem.

The video is amazing, Andrea, but please add the name of the songs you're playing in the videos, or at least in the form of timestamps! I didn't recognize a few that sounded quite awesome.
Thanks for making those, I find them really cool to watch.

@@AndreaBoccarusso Oh, damn. That's incredible. So that's why a few sounded so similar to some bands that I know but not quite the same and I was confused af ahahhaha
