Introducing Rain Brothers' new automatic downspout diverter and DIY rain barrel kit for use in creating your own rainwater harvesting system.
We at Rain Brothers, LLC have been designing, constructing, and installing rainwater harvesting systems - both residential and commercial-scale -- in the Ohio Region for over eight years, and we have used virtually every rainwater downspout diverter on the market. With the diverters on the market, there are recurring problems, including:
1) Difficult installation
2) Insufficient inlet size into the barrel/tank
3) Insufficient overflow, causing diverter to back up drainage
4) Working only with the smallest downspouts (i.e., 2"x3")
Our new diverter addresses these issues and offers a thoughtful, high-quality, affordable solution.
For under $30, you get:
*Three hole saws (for drilling/installing valves and downspout diverter)
*3/4" gate valve/garden hose valve
*3/4" drain nipple with cap
*Two threaded rubber grommets for water-tight and easy installation of valve and drain plug
*1-1/2" rubber grommet for water-tight inlet into tank/barrel
*3' of flexible hose to link barrel/tank to downspout diverter
*Rubber "automatic" downspout diverter (works with 2"x3", 3"x4", 3" round, and 5" commercial downspouts)
*One "do not drink water" label for your new rainwater harvesting system

You guys are geniuses. I finally got around to installing this and it literally took one minute.
Now to see how much rain it catches...
Just got this from your website! So excited that you put some thought into this product. Also glad you ship to Canada!
Thanks for that video. I'm wondering how to remove the downspout connection to my rain barrel- I want to empty it for the winter ?
Sure thing! You just remove the two screws that hold the diverter into the downspout, and then pull the diverter out from the downspout. If you’d like to seal up the hole in the downspout, you would install our Winter Cover, found here: www.rainbrothers.com/store/Flexi-Fit-Diverter-Winter-Cover-p281493350
All my downspouts are 2" x 2". Do I have to replace one with a 2" x 3" downspout so I can use a diverter kit?
You can still use the 2x3 diverter - it will just scrunch a bit
I have this converter and debris often gets stuck, and i have to remove it. Any tips? Also, is it okay to put a silicon caulk around the hole?
It’s best to use one of our downspout debris filters above the diverter if you’re having problems with debris: www.rainbrothers.com/store/Downspout-Filters-c73647277
Yes, it’s ok to put silicone around the diverter, but it’s certainly not necessary. If you have some water dribbling from around the diverter, functionally, it’s not problematic as the water will follow the downspout down and drain wherever the downspout already drains.
Thanks
is there one for round pipes?
and why do not drink?
Yes: www.rainbrothers.com/store/ROUND-Flexi-Fit-Downspout-Diverter-w-Winter-Cap-p281493357
Because, without proper filtration, the water will likely have bacteria
Do you have a diverter for square downspout? 3x3
Our 2x3 diverter will work for 3x3 downspouts. It won’t harvest all the water, but it will harvest most of it
do you get pollen in your water? i do and i have a screen.
Pollen is difficult to remove. On larger systems, we treat it with either a coagulant like Aluminum Sulfate or a tannin removal filter
With a rain barrel, no need to remove pollen.
Will this work with a 6" down spout
Yes and no. It will work if you try to off-set the diverter to allow the diverter to touch as much of the inside surface of the downspout as possible. Doing so will harvest some water, but not all
