Hello I became interested in this work. Do practical training on a server and SSD with read capability and multiple modes at the same time Or with the Turing Pi 2 Thank You
It's ironic that you're posting electronics projects at about the same time I'm getting into electronics as well. Mostly out of necessity; I inadvertently popped a capacitor off my phone's motherboard while replacing the screen, and it's about the size of a grain of salt. Spent like $600 for a digital microscope, soldering/rework station, and some practice SMD kits to get that silly little thing back on, so now I guess I have a new hobby LOL
I figured I would check this out since you mentioned it. I like this idea to (the channel). Also the bitcoin node is pretty cool. I had only heard of mining.
@@redbeardengineered that sounds great. Idk if you can call what I work in a shop, but I'm basically out under a carport. So no chance of ac for me lol. Can't wait for it to cool down though.
Thanks for the tutorial. Is your node still active and running. Would you mind share your node address and what is your minimum capacity to open channel with your node?
The current Bitcoin blockchain is ~536GB. Looks like it added ~90 GB over the last year. Makes me think you'll be good for at least a decade with 2TB. -- www.blockchain.com/explorer/charts/blocks-size
Hi! I enjoy building things with my hands. You can get a feel for my content at my main channel "Red Beard Ops"; but I'm thinking that the range of variability will be high with this channel. From home DIY projects, to tech related content like this bitcoin node. Bitcoin mining economics, excel VBA guides,... the sky is the limit. Any suggestions would be welcome as well. Cheers
It might have been helpful if you went into like how much you would be making over what time frame, which might help folks get a better idea in their head of things here...💯👍🙏
Gotcha sir. Yah, this is a bitcoin node not a miner. So you really won't be making anything. The purpose of this node is to have a reliable copy of the Bitcoin blockchain on your own personal server/umbrel. You won't need to trust anyone else node to verify transactions. You can connect your wallets to this node so that they reference it. As long as there is one node running on the planet; BTC doesn't die. You can technically get some revenue with a routing lightning network node, but it's not a significant amount unless you're a huge routing node.
Not sure about a tablet... I haven't tried this. Would be a good question for Umbrell staff if they support tablets and phone for the interface. If you're on the network I think it should work.
What if I am using a M.2 SSD connected to raspi? I'd like to use the OS via SD card but want to use M.2 SSD as a main storage. I heard that there are some "configuration" stuffs I have to deal with when using M.2. Do you have any idea how to make this work? Thanks for the video.
Brother, Do I need a static ip to run a lightning node? I am planning to operate my own lighting node but I could not find an exact information whether I need a static ip or not? Thank you in advance.
I did not set a static IP for my node; but I don't see why you couldn't. I'm not the most knowledgeable on this, but it seems like it would be best practice to do so in your router settings.
Thank you for your response, I did not set my node yet. I wonder when I connect a lightning channel is it a must to have a static ip to make the connection stable. What will happen to the connection if IPS changes my ip. Thank you for your nice tutorial video tho. @@redbeardengineered
Hey James, I'm currently not taking custom orders. When I do have a knife available for sale I generally post it up on Instagram as a first come first served basis. Sorry about that sir! Hope you have a great Monday. 🙌
If you have a mesh system, you could install a mesh module right next to this node and hardwire it from the module. Look into a deco mesh. (this replaces your router) --- Like this one - amzn.to/3NPg729 or this one - amzn.to/3vgqOo1
@@redbeardengineered Thanks. I meant how do I connect my Macbook's bitcoin wallet to my Umbrel bitcoin wallet. It seems like you used the bitcoin node application as your bitcoin wallet. I tried connecting my Macbook's Electrum wallet to my Bitcoin node app with many different permutations but only got a connection when connecting Macbookbook Electrum to Electrs. Lastly, I connected my Sparrow wallet to my Electrs.
Nice video! Can you tell me if a Bitcoin node can run without Umbrel? Because I have a full node running in Ubuntu and I don't have Umbrel. Maybe I'm doing something wrong.
I haven't moved with my node, however, I'd imagine it would be no big deal. Just plug it back in and the node should start downloading the blocks it missed to get back to having a fully synced copy of the time-chain. Obviously during this time any wallets that you have referencing this node will not be able to confirm transactions or broadcast. Cheers!
From my understanding of the lightning network it's constructed of peer to peer channels. It's not another alt coin. It allows two users to have a ledger between themselves where they can transfer BTC back and forth at very low fees.... then when the channels close the Talley gets settled on the main chain. This may help - ua-cam.com/video/RoDNSlwkxJc/v-deo.html
@@redbeardengineered Very interesting, thank you. How are these nodes/channels verified and secured? Is it similar to proof of stake or some other mechanism?
Hmmm, I'm trying to think back to the start up phase when I did this. I really don't know the answer to your questions. Sorry about that. I'd imagine you didn't do anything wrong and just haven't set up the wallet? Maybe you need to wait till BTC blockchain is fully synced.
Is it CanaKit Raspberry Pi 4 Extreme Kit - 128GB Edition (2GB RAM) that contains those items( the fan + the Raspberry case + cables, heat sink)? Or I will have to buy each separately?
Hey $Fund. I can't say for sure what the 2GB ram kit has since they had the 8GB ram version when I bought it (at the same link provided). It seems like the product description changes as they get more 8GB version in stock. That being said mine came with the Raspberry Pi, 128 GB microSD, Fan, Case, Cables, heat sink, power cable, switch. The only things I had to buy separately was the SSD and USB enclosure.
Hey Fusion, you're saying that you were able to get the machine running, but wasn't able to log into the umbrel page? --- I think your problem may be a networking issue. If you computer and your node aren't on the same network, you won't be able to log into the start page.
Great video, thank you. I have quite a slow internet connection 15Mbit up and down. Would I need to download every new ₿ blockchain or only the first one? There is no way that I would be able to download every new blockchain with my internet speed to run a full node.
Hey Andy, I'm fairly sure it will start downloading all of it automatically. I think there are some partial nodes that you can run on your desktop. Sorry for the delayed response.
Best tutorial I've seen so far on this... more BTC content please.
Best explained video on the Raspberry PI set up I've found, nice work. Damn shame they out of the kits
