      would definitely if i can figure out how to achieve anonymous pseudonyms in a foolproof way. So say I want to build an online reputation/following. What do I need to do so with a pseudo that can't be traced to my irl identity yet not prohibitively user unfriendly... like would need to do this from my home internet and logging in/out should be doable several times a day without wanting to rip your hair out

  • @burcakb1

    Hey Sun, I feel I need to warn you about a potential problem with Raspberry Pi. The harddisk you connected is over USB-3.0 and USB3 is VERY susceptible to stray 2.4 Ghz comms. There's a pretty good chance that your drive will register a bad block and the node data will go off-sync, within a month or two. Especially if that node is staying close to other 2.4 Ghz sources like wireless phones, headphones, mice, access points, etc. When you're copying a file to your external drive every now and then, you don't experience this problem but when you have a full bitcoin node syncing all the time and electrs indexing on top, that USB3 connection gets a LOT of use and sooner or later something does go wrong. This USB3 thing is a known and documented issue and no way to avoid it. I haven't kept up with developments in the SBC world but i'm guessing somebody probably came up with an nvme connection by now. You might want to go for something like that instead.

    I have Bitcoin Core running on Ubuntu 24/7 with the entire blockchain downloaded. Using SSD drives and Starlink high speed unlimited internet. I also have a wallet installed and open in Bitcoin core. But this is all new to me. Questions: Is my system automatically working as a node, or do I need to do something else? There are 10 peers connected all the time. And, how can I run a Lightning node along with this? Or would it better to only run a Lightning node and not the Bitcoin Core? Many thanks!

    • @thomasneal7126
      @thomasneal7126 Місяць тому

      If you only have 10 connections, you are only sending out you are not getting any inbound connections. by default, bitcoin core allows 124 total connections incoming and outbound combined. You will need to setup port forwarding on your ISP router that points to your node on port 8333.

    thanks for the video! wouldn't it be equally private to use TAILS OS to broadcast transactions? then if the public node is being tracked, they won't know your IP. I presume there's no way for a malicious node to see the balance of your other address within the same wallet if their UTXOs aren't involved in the transaction? thanks

      @Pedro Abreu I think the full blockchain is ~80-100GB currently. I host a pruned node on my PC that's around 45GB. I'm not sure if there's a torrent for it, I downloaded my node over the command line.

      Great question… Bitcoin is more ubiquitous and has a better chance to replace reserve currencies with a decentralized and democratic*ish alternative… that said, Monero is much more private. I like both!
