      Hey Jay, Thanks for the great video. I got a question that's a bit different; I make my videos in Arabic, & I tried to animate the text but Resolve's text effects only work with English & other Latin languages. Is there a way that I missed in Resolve or may be a plug-in I can install to it to animate Arabic text?

    My reasons:
    1. To create different cuts of a video. I will make a UA-cam video and then make a shorter cut as a "teaser" to promote on Facebook.
    2. To make backup versions. Sometimes, I will do massive edits that I am not 100% sure I will keep so I copy the timeline as a backup.
    Anyways, great tutorial! I've left a thumbs up.

    I did this for the first time with our family vacation a few weeks back. Made it easier to get things done because one day had way more footage so I was able work on that at a comfortable pace over time while still being able to edit the rest of the trip day by day and then put it all together. Otherwise, it probably would have never happened.

    Hi Jay! I love your channel, which has been very helpful to Bump-up my Davinci Resolve skills since I started to create Art-Tutorial videos. This particular video saved me a LOT of time. THANK YOU! But I have a question and I hope you can help: I now use multiple Timelines to create different sections of final project and then just simply put those finished "Section Timelines" into final "Master Timeline". But if I later decide, to remove a clip, add a Fusion composition or make some other changes to one of those "Section Timelines" - it doesn't "update" itself on a Master Timeline. I searched and couldn't found a solution. I have to delete it, and re-insert New Section Timeline with saved changes. Is there a setting that I can use to enable automatic updating of all the Section Timelines in that Final Master Timeline. I hope you know what I mean... Thanks a lot, and keep up the good work. I just found this looking for how to drag one timeline into another and have it NOT decompose on drag… but in your video, that's exactly what's happening. It's Jan 2022, Resolve Studio 17.4.3 and when I drag one timeline into another, it automatically decomposes. Maybe a new feature, but do you know how to make this NOT happen? I want it the way you just showed!

    Unfortunately in Resolve 17; timeline in a timeline causes stuttering and repeated audio out of sync. B M Tech support couldn't help. Had to copy all footage from the second timeline and paste it in the main timeline to fix issue. Reported it to BM Technical support to look into.

    • @sanatyclause

      Can you please expand on your answer - I followed your instructions but got the stuttering but not clear on "copy all footage from the second timeline and paste it in the main timeline" I have number of timelines dragged into Final & it stutters - can you clarify the second & Main timelines ? It's driving me mad and I have a deadline

    • @Robroy333
      @Robroy333 3 роки тому

      @@sanatyclause basically it doesn't work. You have to put all footage in only one timeline until they fix it. So if you have multiple timelines and you made edits the other timelines; you have to copy all footage and edit. From the outside timeline and paste it in original or main timeline as if it was always there. Either that or you can't use other timelines in one main timeline or you get the stutters and echo syncing issues. Until BM fixes it. I hope this helps!

    In FCP7 (back in the day, long.... long ago) it was possible to actually have two or more timelines open at the same time where you could literally copy and paste between two open timelines. It was a very useful feature that none of the new NLE's seem to be capable of. Unless someone knows differently. I used it all the time. This is somewhat useful but seems to be more about component
    editing (section by section) rather than multiple timelines.

    I've been beating my head trying to figure this out.
    Here's a specific question:
    I have Davinci Resolve 17 Studio ... and a Speed Editor ...
    - I shot some video (with a drone) at 1080 - 59.94 fps ... and ....
    - with the same drone, shot some video at 4K (well, 3840) at 23.97 fps.
    What I want to do is to use a Project Timeline for the editing set at 1080 - 23.97 fps.
    I need to do slow motion from some of the clips that were shot at 1080 - 59.94 fps AND slow motion from some of the clips that were shot at 4K - 23.97.
    What is the best way to do that for the highest quality of the Exported project.
    Thanks in advance, Chuck (an old dude with a bad heart and high blood pressure ... and my frustration trying to figure this out ain't helping any)

    • @JayLippman
      @JayLippman  3 роки тому +1

      Hey Chuck! Great questions! For the 59.94 shots, you can right click on the clip (either in the media pool or in the timeline), click Clip Attributes, then change the framerate to 23.97.
      The 4K clips will be harder, because your clip is already at 23.97. Best thing to do is right click on the clip in the timeline, choose Clip Speed, and change the speed to NO LESS than 60%. Then in the inspector, under Retime and Scaling, change the Retime Process to Optical Flow.
      Hope that helps!

    Hey, do you have any tips on how to have different aspect ratios in one timeline? For example: I have my main timeline resolution in 16:9 (1920x1080), but I want to have a segment at the beginning, that I pre-composed in a dedicated timeline, with an aspect ratio of 2,39:1 (roughly 1920x804)... normally, as in all other editing softwares I used, the timeline should act like a picture frame... but as soon as I drag the timeline with a different ratio into my main timeline, it shows the containing footage in it's full proportion. I went through youtube, google, the Davinci forum, but couldn't find a solution. Maybe you have any advise. I think it's realy annoying to have to render the timeline to use it in my main comp...
