- This may be a long video but well worth seeing the end project. I created one of the most beautiful appliques' ever. The rolled roses made from ribbon are easy and turn out beautiful every time.

I've made these since the 70s carried out till now,.though they've been made before the Civil War out of scraps to adorn plain , during and after the Civil War when material was scarce ..it brought me joy seeing this video..thank you from this 73 yr old grandmother..you and I will keep making them , keeping a dying art alive .

Glad to see that there are people who still like to do this. She does a beautiful job! I just can't figure out why she doesn't get her fingers burned!?

Very pretty! I am a new widow who is looking to totally change up my bedroom and decided that pretty, lacey, ruffly, girly things are what i want to do. It makes me happy. Soo im just getting started and want to try things like your beautiful roses you made here. My question is: where can i find lace and ribbon, beads etc.? Is there placese you can find this stuff as scraps? Do you go to antique stores and garage sales to find stuff? Thats where i was going to start because i always have loved the pretty ladies hankies that could be use to decoupage or do many things with. Im going to look at some of your other videos and also use Pinterest, but i just thought you might be sble to steer me in the right direction. Do you sell scraps of lacey etc? Ok thank you so much!
I'm not the "Author" of this video but I would say that you can go to thrift stores, garage sales, and such. You don't need to find the exact same thing. You can purchase some dresses that are made from satin like material and cut it in strips the width of the ribbon and make beautiful flowers and then you can find curtains and think "out of the box" to make fabric that will work. Items that you might not imagine as something that you would use to make flowers and leaves can be used. The unusual make the prettiest and most interesting. "Yes, Imperfect is better!" So, sorry to hear of your loss. Hope you are doing okay. It's good you are involving yourself in something else to keep your spirits up. God Bless You!

Your right about that. I think I have made a decent correction in my more recent videos. I had changed locations for doing my videos and had limited room. So sorry about that.

I watched a marrocan woman diong leaves to attach to whole flower.i sent you her name for that flower you don't sew with thread.i still cannot do the flower .I watched over and over and still don't turn out like hers? But leaves did.using organza green ribbon.using only a piece I think is 3 by 2 inches.fold and melt together the edges.then you have a tube.make sure the seam you burnished together is in centre.then from right side half way up sew towards centre of top bit then same towards other centre.this when finished forms a triangle when you pull it makes 4 lovely leaves you cup around your flower.push needle down centre finished.there is a little flower also using this method turns out nice.ok

Ou asked leaves are easy also same method is for a little flower.but the actual flower she makes I have done it over and over she counts 25 .done that but still can't get it.i will put it on your comments no problem.

Thanks Barbara. I think I finally found a solution to my off camera mishaps so hopefully that won’t happen anymore. I will need to watch this video since it’s an older one so that I can tell you what fabric it is.
The fabric flower was done with a cotton poly blend fabric. Just a piece I had laying around in my stash.
You need to move your camera down. You have more of the top of screen with barely showing your work.

Why do always cover up the "layers"? Seems very wasteful to put all those beautiful "bits n pieces" just to make it all DISAPPEAR.... ....smh
So sorry, it just happens. Makes me mad at myself sometimes too but I always love the end result. I do hate wasting anything though.
