Jamerrill! I saw you at BG’s over by the bumper cars on Friday and was hollering at my kids, “THAT’S JAMERRILL!!” Haha I’ve been following you for a long time and wanted to come say “hi” but didn’t want to interrupt your family time. I hope you and the family had a great day and it was nice to see you even if I didn’t meet you! 😄

Mexican momma here! Whenever we have an eye issue, i make chamomile tea. I steep loose or bagged chamomile and let it cool completely. Once cooled i add a few drops to the affected eye.
Its a natural remedy that we use. Its to help clear and clean the eye. Maybe that can help a bit 🤗

I love that you keep a very respectful boundary with what you share with your kids. It’s wonderful that you can still share your tips on cooking, homesteading, homeschooling, among other things without crossing that line. Unfortunately I’ve had to unfollow some content creators bc it’s just crazy what people share, especially about their kids. Love your content and it’s keeping me motivated!

I care for my cast iron the way my parents always did. We wash with soap and water and put directly on the stove to heat the pan/dry it. During that process I add a bit of oil to keep it seasoned. I suspect my mother has used that process for over 50 years with no issues.

My mother and hers both did the soap wash and stove on to dry, then oil before going in oven to live until next use as well. I don't have any cast iron yet, but I plan to treat them the same.

Jamerrill, first let me say how much I enjoy your videos. I am almost 70 years old and I have been cooking since I was in my early teens. My mama and myself have ALWAYS washed our cast iron and it has held up beautifully. As for using metal utensils......YES I DO. I personally loathe plastic utensils, they're too flimsy. BTW....on oiling cast iron after washing, I think it's a great idea but I rarely have done it and one piece I have is either right at 70 years old or more. It was my mama's cornbread/cornstick pan. It's still good. Prayers you're feeling better.

So I’m one eyed in the kitchen too. Might as well. I get the left one done Thursday, so I gotta keep up with the produce coming in so fast.

I’ve cooked with cast iron for over 30 years. I wash mine, but not every time I use it. It depends on what I’m cooking and how messy or sticky it is. If I do wash it, instead of just wiping it out, I dry it in a low oven & then lightly oil it before storing it. The humor has been distorted over the years. The issue with washing it is people don’t dry it well enough. Cast iron will rust if it’s not properly dried & oiled.

I always use dawn dish detergent a metal scrubber when I wash it, I use a metal utensils on them daily and so did my mother when they were hers. I take a towel dry them and rub them down with lard every time they are used. I have had not one problem with them ever!!! Keep doing what you are doing and enjoy your cast iron!

I love your channel Jamerrill! I have a tip for your kitchen aid which you may already know but in case you don’t here it is from the KA site; It is important to push down on the back of the bowl until you hear an audible "snap". If you do not hear the snap, the bowl may appear level, but it will not be locked into place, and the beater will hit the sides of the bowl.

Just ages and suggested responsibilities over the years and how you've developed the system you have for division of labor. As a fellow homeschooling mom with 5 kiddos under 10, division of labor is important and we started canning our vegetables this year. But with all you juggle, I'd love to see how you have your family help manage it all.

Jamerrill, I feel this to my core. Its a bizarre eye allergy. I suffered for years, daily, with that eye nonsense. No medication ever helped but switching from a warm compress to an ice did. Irrigate with cold wafer and then hold a frozen wash rag to the area. Worked every time for me and will help you avoid that eyelid from getting raw. this is what we did to avoid the kids being around our Blackstone, we built off our kitchen an outdoor kitchen so we can have the grill out there and the griddle it has a door that locks, a huge fridge, and a freezer all I have to take out is small appliances I might need so I keep the grandkids safe and I can get my canning done as well without heating up my house, if you did this I'm sure you would love it but everything comes with time

That is a beautiful idea! I would love to build an outdoor kitchen out behind my current kitchen. We have an old deck back there that needs to be rebuilt. So in time yes, that might be something functional we can do. I just know we’re not set up for it at this moment. Thank you for sharing your set up!

Hi Jamerille, I think the blackstone grill would make sense in the times when you have a handy helper who is stationed right at the grill top and they have everything they need to just stay put and fire through a big batch of batter. LOL..try saying that 5 times fast :)

I am so glad you are able to take this time to yourself now. It’s a blessing we may not want when you had planned a nice vacation, but I am sure you appreciated the time to rest. ❤ we love you and I am looking forward to your next visit(video) whenever you are ready.

😂❤ I don’t know if you even try, but lady you are a hoot and a half!! I was watching your one 👁️ cooking (sorry, I’m sure you were miserable) but I was out of control laughing!! 🤣
I live in central MN we had next level Canadian wild fire smoke, unreal creepy yellow skies for actual weeks! Seems to be a lot better . Hope you and the family are all doing better now.

My mom always washed her cast iron with soap and water, I do the same, you could get a electric black stone for your counter top, we bought one to use in our motorhome and we use it in the house too!

Would it be something to think about? Using metal on a cast iron would not hurt the cast iron. But as you use your cast iron, you're trying to build up a slick surface. The metal might affect the nice surface

What great comments about doing what works, for each of us. There are unlimited ideas and ways to do things, but we can only do one thing at a time and building our skills. I’m delving into foraging and making salves and homemade vanilla and canning and mega soup making. But one step or thing at a time.

My gluten intolerant girl can eat buckwheat. Buckwheat is actually a seed, not wheat. Which is awesome cause it opens up more foods that she can eat!

Yes, you can, the video before this one I had run out of my homemade yogurt and had zero yogurt in the house so we had to get another starter cup. I had confused myself in this video and already had some starter. Ha ha.
