I plow snow in Hampden, Maine I don't plow roads but I do plow driveways and parking lots my pet peeves are people parking right where I'm pushing snow or on my commercial and residential accounts not moving there vehicles and end up having to plow around them if it becomes to tight or a danger I'll leave them for cleanup after the storm ends
I see that you finally have something to do. You should definitely consider contacting the person who is in town government to let them know that the manhole that you hit needs a little bit of attention so that you don't have to worry about busting your plow. People who don't have to be out in the snow, and parked vehicles. Garbage carts are a little bit of a problem on the days that they are doing the same routes. But our municipality has put guidelines on how where the carts are put.
A little bit. And trust me, the condition of some of the roads has been brought to their attention many times, unfortunately we have very little say in those things being addressed. Ours also has guidelines, but nobody follows them lol
@@StollNCrew Does the town government reimburse you for damages due their neglect of the road. At least were I live they would go out, and try to repair or put something around the manhole that the plow will ride over before it becomes a problem with the blade of the truck.
How do you guys get roads to do? Go to the town and ask to sub? Been wanting to do that, just roads, plow to side and salt be done, no sidewalks or parking areas

So pretty much everything is contracted out, whether it be snow, landscaping type of stuff, sewer stuff, garbage, etc. Then there's also requirements that you have to meet in order to even be eligible to bid. Such as experience doing roads, necessary equipment, location etc.
Also when I plow for my town, I hate the guys that put the makers up because I hit most of them because the bobcat we use for our sidewalks hit them into the road. Broke a plow with that

Luckily we don't have any sidewalks to worry about so most of the markers are off the curb line and we don't usually hit them.
