  • "Ouray" appears on Andy's albums - 'Gates of Gnomeria', 'Live Book' and 'That Thing That Came From Somewhere' (with Don Ross). This is the first fingerstyle piece Andy ever composed. It was inspired by a trip to a small town in Colorado and the playing of Lindsey Buckingham.

Some 10 good years ago I was about to leave my jazz guitar studies and to quit music permanently because my bands were breaking apart, so as my life. 😃 But then I discovered your music and I learned how many cool things a talented musician can do on a stage all alone. That inspired me not to quit. I started to compose, then to travel by hitchhiking around Europe, did lots of busking on my travels, later I released a few albums and got invited to play in festivals and venues, and soon I became a full time musician. Thank you for changing my life

Ouray is my favorite place in the world. I live in Iowa but I go to Ouray as often as possible. I hope to move there once my kid graduates.

+Benjamin Håkansson Arguably, it probably didn't sound like this when he first played it and has since added accents and coloratura over the years which he's developed from later compositions.

Benjamin Håkansson What's really disheartening is to learn that Mike Dawes' first acoustic piece was Boogie Shred.

@@erikgrundy yeah I feel that man XD but you’ve got to remember, he’s either distantly related to Bensusan, or he’s a very close family friend as welll as his biggest influence. So he’s been grinding since a very young age. We can’t beat ourselves up and compare ourselves to others, or it’ll hurt our playing and practicing by being induced with negativity. Comparison is the death of creation and development.

    I love your work!
I notice that in this song there is more ambience to the sound than in the other videos.. Any particular reason? Just curious...
