  • Speaking of comic books and their characters, Marvel and DC have always had a monopoly over fame. Their popularity cannot be questioned but only admired. However, today we will be talking about one of the most underrated comic book characters, ‘Hellboy’. Belonging to the Dark Horse comic book company and originating from the creative mind of Mark Mignola, Hellboy is a well-meaning, half-demon brought to Earth to destroy reality but instead becomes the world’s greatest paranormal detective. The comic book stories and their characters are inspired by Lovecraftian ideas, pulp fiction, horror and folklore. One such monster character from the comics is ‘Ogdru Jahad’. The Ogdru Jahad are the seven gods of chaos and serpentine entities that wait for their release from the crystal prison only to destroy the world. These creatures were developed from a blend of Christian myths and Lovecraftian themes, whose preliminary sketch was done by Mignola himself. Later with the collaboration of Del Toro, the monster's design got an aesthetic deviation from the purely serpentine appearance. So, without any further delay, let's dig deep into the character origin and details of the mystical and terrifying ‘Ogdru Jahad’.

    We were robbed of Hellboy 3. Never to be. Another of life's tragedy. The original acting team was golden.

      I wouldn't say we were robbed. People today act like spoiled children and they refused to accept the new cast. In my opinion, the new Hellboy wasn't any cheasier than the originals. People today, once they see one of their favorite characters portrayed by someone, become fixed on that one actor. And when another actor is used to portray them, they will not accept them. They are called, "actors", for a reason. Their profession is portraying or, "acting", like someone else. People get fixated on the first actor that they see do a good job as a particular character, and then, as far as that person is concerned, that actor IS that character/ And they refuse to accept anyone else. I think that's what happened with the new Hellboy movie. People try to say that it wasn't that, and that it was the cheesy writing and story. But that isn't true at all. People were bitching about someone other than Ron Perlman playing Hellboy as soon as the movie was revealed. And the storyline and writing are no more cheesy and ridiculous than the original movies.

      @@daemonthorn5888 yep, the only reason people didn’t like the new Hellboy was because it was new. That’s 100% definitely what it was. Everyone knows people don’t care about writing or acting or pacing or cinematography or direction, all they care about is who’s face they’re looking at. Not just that, but it’s a scientific fact that because you liked the movie, that means it’s a great movie and the only possible way for someone to dislike it is to be a butthurt old head, because everyone knows that opinions don’t exist and your experience is the singular real one

    • @daemonthorn5888
      @daemonthorn5888 2 роки тому

      @@diangelo786 I didn't say that. What I said was, the originals weren't any better. They were just as cheesy and the acting was the same caliber. Ron Perlman is not known for his great acting. That's why the majority of roles are just bit parts an B quality movies. Perhaps I'm not good at putting my thoughts into words. What I'm getting at, is that the new Hellboy was no better or worse than the originals. And tons of people were crapping all over it before it even came out, because Ron Perlman wasn't cast as Hellboy. So the movie failed before it even released, because people don't want their franchises messed with. And a lot of people wont accept a new actor in the lead role.

    I am incredibly disturbed by something. The possibility of all of these monstrous creatures, mainly the demonic frog beings, actually existing. Since I was a child, about three or four, I've had one reoccurring dream where I am being chased through a red, spiraled forest, by demonic frog creatures. There is only one direction to run, and sometimes it is a dead end, and sometimes I have to jump off a cliff. Lovecraft wrote about such creatures, and Spiderwick Chronicles depicted the creatures in my dream very well. However, I was about 4 years old, and I had never heard of Lovecraft, and the Spiderwick Chronicles hadn't even been written. It's most certainly possible these things exist, and someone or something is trying to warn us about them.
    One addition to this. I don't really know if I even knew what a frog looked like when I was 4, but that's the best way I can describe them. Demonic frog creatures with malicious cackles.

      Along with Abe at the end
      If they hadn't race swapped Alice, not to mention that stupid gooey medium crap she was doing, would have been sweet

Then charge admission during the full moon. Put up clay tablets with cuneiform writing on them, issuing a warning from long ago. Cast a portal ring out of concrete with glyphs on it. Ritualistic obelisks all about. Name it Cthulu's graveyard. I think I will have to hire Gullemero DelToro for it, as I have no artistic talent in that area.

    The cinematic Hellboy relaunch is a middle finger to both the original cinematic exposure and the comics on top of the original cinematic interpretations being really try hard to do the canon right while being really cinema-friendly. Modern movies don't even try to do that anymore and are giving all OG fans the middle finger while marketing to create new fans. I am perplexed by that. Why even use the OG source if that's the goal? I mean, you could use the idea and totally hire those morons who disrespect the OG source to make their own story instead of pretending it's an OG source type anything.
    I mean, I am a nobody. Think of me as a guy who seduced some studio to hire me to pitch a movie. I tell them of a great movie I have in mind. I wow them with details of its action scenes and how it would really apply to the new generation and how games can be made by it, new games. I tell them it's a totally open market because it sold before (yes, that is a strategy, a totally new market that was really sold in high numbers before... let than sink in and know why the same stories are being sold to us in retellings over and over again while there are thousands of books that can be turned into great movies). I then tell them that the story is about some guy who discovers something, grows via the story, loves things that real-world companies would pay for the product endorsement, and has either a happy ending or a twist based upon the movie type. And I introduce it as MY retelling of (insert any story that already exists here). Hell, if I had access to the idiots who cater to the media-consuming idiots and pitched that (or any) idea, I'd get rich.
    Hellboy got inspired and ran with a lot of great stories... albeit Lovecraftian derails and confusions with Hellboy canon saves. Lovecraft was a bit tentacle-obsessed and a bit of a racist and his fetishes did touch upon that for his universe-creation. No judgment, just reasoning. We all have our kinks, fetishes, etc... private fantasy thoughts. I only put a spotlight upon those because once you create and you go public, you are no longer private and your everything is under the public spotlight... literally everything. Social media morons forget that and defend what they forgot via the sophistry and blither that... me... never mind. We all lost all the morons now.
    Hellboy is an awesome comic that had awesome movies and did show its love for Lovecraftian monsters... until the new Hellboy movies. I mean, seriously... you f*cked up Hellboy after a great stripped-down version existed already. Will people stop going Disney on everything they get already?

Archaeopteryx looked like a raven or crow sized bird, with a long tail, a toothed "beak", and "hands" on the wings which are much more prominent than those of today's birds. Yes, many birds today actually still have the remnants of clawed fingers on their wings, beneath the feathers. The next time you're eating chicken wings, take a closer look at them. You can make out the, "fingers", on many of the wings. Although they are very small now, and useless.
