Now I know why the president accepted her resignation as security adviser. She is always emphasizing that the government should improve the layer of communication and that cooperation must be needed, but her statement is far from what is going on in the West Philippine Sea; in fact, China isn't interested in it, based on what they're doing in WPS. Actually, she's not really responsive to the question regarding the expansionism of the PRC.

The problem with the scientific community (especially Chinese scientists and academe), generally speaking, national leaders are unlikely bound to that kind of diplomacy to some extent, and the government of China has no interest in scientific or academic diplomacy which will hurt its ambition to be the most powerful nation in the world. So how will you leverage that to a leader whose ambition is world domination? It's unlikely to succeed if you interject scientific or academic in the sphere of diplomacy in WPS.

My two cents opinion would be that this should be the laser time that Miss Carlos will be interviewed regarding a very complex situation. Especially National Security and Geopolitics.

Unbeknownst to many critics of US support to the Phil, the Phil Air force is now accompanied by US Air force in patrolling the skies of the country. I am in agreement with your opinion, Prof Clarita will take the side of who is paying her. The visit of BBM in Hawaii to the US Admiral significantly improved the interoperability between the AFP and US forces. As I stated, the US and Phil Air Force planes are flying side by side in and around the Philippines. The presence of two US aircraft carrier group in the Pacific region is an additional deterrence against belligerent nations who are known not to respect international laws.
Carlos is articulate but not consistent , pivoted not towards the interest of the Philippine.

The Philippines must build more ports and islands in the South China Sea within its 200 exclusive economic zone. If the Americans are really for our aid, let the Philippines give those Philippine made islands to the American military as additional bases.

"Saliva diplomacy" is better than war. At least, it does not lead us to instant war. We have the time to strengthen our economy and militarily (we don't want war, but we have to arm ourselves also, just in case).

@@lenyfermin9817 The numerous diplomatic protests lodged by the Phil govt against China's illegal intrusion within the Exclusive Economic Zone of the country did not produce any tangible result. Obviously, we cannot afford to start a conflict with the second most powerful country in the world. Countries of the free world expressed their support for us, but most importantly, we have on our side the only country in the world that can stop China's aim of expanding their territories using their military might. The Mutual Defense Treaty has been strengthened by both sides by adding more EDCA bases. The US fighter jets are now flying with the Phil Air Force over the areas around the country. Allied forces like Japan and Australia have been allowed to conduct military exercises to practice interoperability with the AFP while continuing to donate badly needed military equipment.
The diplomatic approach is always the proper way to resolve issues between civilized nations. When one continues to resort to using force like Russia against Ukraine, I can only hope that the allied forces will come to our rescue.

The US forces came to Afghanistan to look for Bin Laden, not to invade the country like the Russians did and failed. The Taliban insulted and mocked the request to surrender the terrorist leader. It took one week to defeat the Taliban forces as they retreated to the rough terrain of the mountainous region. A new government was formed and over the period of twenty years, the new Afghan Army was established, trained and equipped. Hundreds of billions of US dollars spent in the process.

this so called ASEAN countries still relay on external players to protect their own territory, its not like once we have gathered all these nations we would be like the EU, excuse me the EU are a group of old superpowers on their own time, unlike the ASEAN who are a group of 2nd and 3rd world countries bound for economic cooperation, the EU has the NATO and they have their own military capabilities that they can use to enforce whatever they want on that particular region while us here in the South East Asia what do we have as a means of military force to command authority on what China wants to do with our territory, if ASEAN is really a great force to be reckoned then China would have think twice in providing the 9 dash line or now 10 dash line claim, and what will the ASEAN do rely again on the US and western superpowers then we are back to square one that we as a nation or as a group of south east asian nation has not have the power to enforce our claims, unless you are india, australia, japan, south korea but we are not those nations, so what more answers do you have karen??

@@daniloserrano225 maybe you had seen sumthing about the pivot of the US from the middle east to Asia specifically China, first of all, China did not become a Superpower on their own, due to the greed of US capitalism, it enabled the slumbering giant panda in the east to awoke to what they are now, sure China's carriers are not on par with the US but let me remind you, we still the Ukraine-Russia war, now Israel-Hamas, there are also wars in Sudan but i don't think the US are involved in that war but currently, the US Congress is trying to weigh which war would they participate, would they still fund the war VS Russia or pivot to Israel if the middle east war escalates further, if you are not aware, Iran is making its move to finally justify its cause to go to war to Israel, so a brief updates on what is going on in geopolitics, do you think, if China starts making its advances they would not think twice on what interests they would like to keep, the current GOP leaning house speaker is really thinking about withdrawing support to Ukraine to fully expend their resources to their commitment to Israel, sure we provide a proper strategic point for the US against china but are you willing to sacrifice filipino lives for something that can be solved if we really go with proper diplomacy, let me remind you that the US already has tabs on the planned expansion of China in our territory but still not alerted us until those bases were already built, then now ask them to help us assert our dominance in that region of contested territories, what prof carlos is saying instead of relying on a piece of paper that we cant implement under the premise that we can't take on China on our own, sure our Army is loyal and will fight to the last man against all enemies but will you risk losing all of it for a few disputes that can be resolve by diplomacy and not escalation, once we don't have a proper Armed Forces then were screwed, would you really think China would respect our claims, you should see it through the perspective of China, this small country with less military power is trying to contest against my claim, if it not for the US sure they can't yet do anything but still China aims to be the undisputed superpower here in Asia, so im sure they've already check their chances on proving that to the world, the litmus test for that is what is China willing to do to the tiny island of Taiwan and Hongkong, as long they stand as sovereign against china then we don't have any problem but that clock is already running, its just a matter of time for China to move, if they have stabilized their own domestic problems then maybe, and with talks about Russia and China having a good relationship then God help us all
