First off i like how you went slowly over each component exactly explaining how you did stuff. The power cord i find a bit sloppy but everything else is great. Nice inside wires are routed perfectly. Now my hands are soo itching, i've been wanting to make a tabletop cabinet for years. The problem is that i'm in an appartment where there is no room to build one. Cant use tools inside this video just makes that itch even greater. I might ask my parents to use there garden in the summer and ask my dad for some help on making one.
Thanks for the excellent videos! I'll be using your hinged back with the motherboard mounted on the back wall idea for sure. I was trying to figure out exactly how I was going to mount mine. I'll be using a 23" 1080p wide screen monitor that I have as a spare right now. Again, thanks for the videos they are a great guide and information source!
Very nice! You did a great job on the cab and the insides themselves are nice and clean. I'd have been tempted to have the sides transparent just to show it off!
zeke lowther WHAT A BELL END Dedication great cab paint could have been flatter but as you said getting covered up by art work simply brilliant thumbs up
1920 x 1080 is a widescreen or rectangular aspect ratio. most old games were designed to produce a square-ish or 4 x 3 aspect ratio. So theoretically most of these old games will fit better on a 1600 x 1200 screen without any black bars on either side of the screen. hope this helps
very nice.i was going to make a full cab but after seeing yours there's not much point. excellent layout i would have never have considered putting in a bare pc, good idea.
Great build! just finished buiding my cab, gonna build the internals up now bought a motherboard cpu and ram. Hoping to get a fully configured hyperspin setup to put inside then my man cave will be complete :)
Very nice of you's to share the insight of all the hard work! Im building a full size cab now. Im using the same josticks as you and yes not the best for changing from 4way to 8way:( Would love to send some pictures of the work so far to ya if you want to see? Again awesome job!
Yeah Bro! You did a really awesome job! Love your cab. The combination of Hard - and Software works perfect. The only way to do better like that, is to buy all of the original Game systems. Greeting from Germany.
dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
4:08 OCD warning! I know wiring the buttons on such a small surface can't be done without a little bit of wire chaos, but it makes my fingers itch and I try to remember where my soldering iron is. Other than that: great video!
Awesome cab! Think I may need to build one for myself. If that keyboard is going through batteries then it is defective. I have had the same keyboard for almost 2 years now and still on original batteries.
Nice cab! I'm in the middle of building one as well. In response to your unfinished monitor/bezel/plexiglass situation: have you looked into "smoked plexi"? Look at the BYOAC forums. There seems to be a lot of people using it. From what they say, it softens the brightness, and isn't as glarey as the clear. Just a thought. Nice work!!
This was amazing until you got to the part about how much it cost... Mine was about $400 to build and I thought that was a lot! And I went with a 19" touch screen that I got on eBay for $120. Regardless, super clean and awesome!
Definitely pricey, and I could have gone cheaper, but the cost of the tools to build it really added up. Also, shipping costs to Hawaii was ridiculous! If I made it again today it would be a lot cheaper now that I have the tools.
You forgot the pinball buttons mate ;). Nice bartop, I have made one my self with SNK NEO GEO tematic, and people dont realize this toys are expensive as hell, btw Im running a 19" 4:3 Tovis monitor with i7 3820 + gtx 750 with hyperspin with 2 TB of roms. I will post a picture soon. Keep the inspiration for other mate, forget the haters.
You could have used a CRT monitor instead of a LCD one to prevent that much glare, bonus is that it has that authentic arcade feel. For arcade and old system emulation you don't even need a good resolution because they were made with that resolution. Only problem is size.
A CRT display would be good for the classics but would definitely not fit inside the bartop arcade. Maybe a full cabinet. Also, I wanted to use my 1600x1200 display as it is really high resolution and looks great for more modern titles that can utilize that resolution.
I really enjoyed watching this video, and your arcade cabinet is just magnificent - Subbed! I'm not the most technical person when it comes to electronics (although I try), so I've decided to buy a cabinet that's already setup with a Raspberry Pi interface. Do you any idea how I would go about getting Nintendo games onto it, in particular nes, snes, n64, gamecube and wii?
Nice work! I have a similar build underway and currently having space and cooling issues. Instead of sucking in through the bottom exhaust out the back I'm looking at pulling in through the left side and out through the right side. Do you think I can achieve stable temperature liquid cooling?
FifthDread is right, try playing the street fighter EX series with a single core chip and a gig of ram is just not going to cut it. If you do, your graphics hungry games are going to show some serious lag.
Question: How do you shut down the PC with just one button? Do you first use the keyboard/touch mouse to shut down the PC, then press the red button to shut down everything or does the red button just do a hard shutdown to everything? Love your cab. Hope mine comes out half as good as yours.
You are the one! Grear software setup! ..but why lcd monitooor?! I hate lcd monitor because is very different to the old arcade crt 15khz monitor. I'm going to build my next(my 28"magnum mamecab is complete) arcade cab with a 4:3 plasma 40" which has more similar image on low res and dvi input.I'm going to put in a monster pc(top core i7 and4top ati crossfire). As usual sanwa joysticks and buttons on a modded x-arcade tankstick hardware(due to use also for wii-u and 360).. Do you have any advice?
I really like how the back of the cabinet is clean looking did you have to make that power adaptor cover thing yourself, i mean like dremel out the size of the power cable to fit cause I cant find a adaptor like that to make the power really clean looking instead of just a hole in the back
Hey there, Nice job on the arcade! I was wondering how you attached the motherboard to the back-panel, I saw some sort of black panel, is that plastic? Metal?
pretty cool but to expensive! you were better off purchasing a full cabinet from Xtentions arcade! they run for at least 798.00 with the mount joysticks! can't beat that bang for the buck!
Very nice build! How did you map the controls to work for all emulators in hyperspin? Did you setup the controls for each emulator, or did you setup them to work for all emulators the same?
Well, it is a fair question. Humour us: without ROMs or software, considering what you've spent (time and money), if you were to sell it, how much would you sell it for?
Hi there just wondering what the extra button under the 6 reds are for? I think you have coin buttons I'n black at the front p1 p2 buttons and a confirm button in the middle? Thanks!

man if I was gonna make a bar top I would do this mounting with the pc. was thinking of where to mount the pc internals in my showcase I want to build don't want a case inside a case.
did you modify the plans to fit your monitor? I have a dell 1900fp 19 in monitor. I was wondering if I needed to change the plans or should i design new ones?
Hi, I'm curious on your statement of what the "Minimum Requirements" would be to run PS2 and Wii games. In order to run games like Street Fighter X Tekken? I ask this out of pure ignorance as I am working to build my own Arcade Machine at home. What would you honestly recommend to run these?
Hi tehre, Your site is giving some weird errors... "Site error: the file /home/fifthd5/public_html/admin/applications_addon/ips/nexus/sources/ads.php requires the ionCube PHP Loader ioncube_loader_lin_5.3.so to be installed by the website operator. If you are the website operator please use the ionCube Loader Wizard to assist with installation." Do you have an Alternative site? Tks.
When you opened it up i wasn't expecting all the PC parts to be out in the open. That makes me 10x more afraid to build something similar to yours for some reason, is it easier or harder without a case?
First off i like how you went slowly over each component exactly explaining how you did stuff. The power cord i find a bit sloppy but everything else is great. Nice inside wires are routed perfectly. Love the big joystick part, and how it's not blocking screen

Good job on the build. It was particularly interesting seeing the insides.

This is absolutely beautiful, man; wonderful craftsmanship.

Solid build and I agree with you on the back of the cabinet. Bravo.
I will use your video as an example for my set up , looks very clean set up great job
Great job, thanks for sharing your work and info. Getting a plan together so I can build an upright cabinet in the near future.
Great build! just finished buiding my cab, gonna build the internals up now bought a motherboard cpu and ram. Hoping to get a fully configured hyperspin setup to put inside then my man cave will be complete :)

great job with the cabinet and video. thanks for sharing,
Love this... I'm totally inspired to build one myself...
This is the best sort of comments to see on my videos! I love inspiring others!
dont know if you guys gives a shit but if you are bored like me during the covid times you can stream all the new movies on InstaFlixxer. Have been binge watching with my girlfriend during the lockdown :)
@Enrique Charles yea, been watching on Instaflixxer for years myself :)
Nice cab, I went the maximus arcade route as I couldn't figure hyperspin out, especially the renaming of all my roms to match the list.
This is quality...I have hyperspin running on hdd in my pc, i never thought about doing this...
UK T55STO Yes in store returns prize adjusted for inflation
That's cool. I'm just into building an Arcade setup using a Raspberry PI 2 but the one you have built is cool.
cool setup man. im thinking of giving it a shot
4:08 OCD warning! I know wiring the buttons on such a small surface can't be done without a little bit of wire chaos, but it makes my fingers itch and I try to remember where my soldering iron is.
Other than that: great video!
Nice bar top mate I built a full size arcade cab and used game ex as hyperspin was a nightmare to set up for me
Awesome cab! Think I may need to build one for myself.
If that keyboard is going through batteries then it is defective. I have had the same keyboard for almost 2 years now and still on original batteries.
jesus christ this is stupid awesome. you have a solid computer built to last forever
Nice work!!
Fantastic job mate. Hail to you !
Great videos, 5D. I've learned a lot for when I embark on building my own machine. :^)
Thank you!
looks good and a lot of work!
This was amazing until you got to the part about how much it cost... Mine was about $400 to build and I thought that was a lot! And I went with a 19" touch screen that I got on eBay for $120. Regardless, super clean and awesome!

Your keyboard won't die if you leave it on. I change my batteries maybe once a year, and I use it every day, but I never use the off switch.
Thanx for the info, I'm gonna start makin mine
You forgot the pinball buttons mate ;).

XTHEDARKMAGEX Do you know how dangerous crts can be? I was considering using one for light gun purposes but its not worth the hassle.
Could have been so epic but you put it in a box that makes it look like a kids toy!
Pretty Sweet man
That smile at the end lol
I really enjoyed watching this video, and your arcade cabinet is just magnificent - Subbed! Loved it you learned me a lot pal, hopefully i can pick your brains when it comes to making mine??
Hi,
It's working now.
Tks.
Looks great..
Great job!
Wow, very nice setup! You are running all those emulators, front-end videos and roms on a 1TB drive?
Good work! But imho this cabinet is a little small.
Nice work! I have a similar build underway and currently having space and cooling issues. Instead of sucking in through the bottom exhaust out the back I'm looking at pulling in through the left side and out through the right side. Do you think I can achieve stable temperature liquid cooling?
What is that plate called in which the motherboard and power supply is mounted to. Thank you very much, great build!!
FifthDread is right, try playing the street fighter EX series with a single core chip and a gig of ram is just not going to cut it. If you do, your graphics hungry games are going to show some serious lag.

Do you have any advice?
Do you think that he want to resemble an arcade or an entire collection of games?
my guess would be the jc answer is yes the arcade classic cabinet
I really like how the back of the cabinet is clean looking did you have to make that power adaptor cover thing yourself, i mean like dremel out the size of the power cable to fit cause I cant find a adaptor like that to make the power really clean looking instead of just a hole in the back
Yeah, I made the back plug myself by modifying a wall plate and placing a female power adapter in the back. Glued in of course.
Hey, great setup!
If you were to build a new setup today...what CPU would you go with?
how do you see the future of arcade type gaming
awsome can't wait to build my own. any advice?
Nice work, do you plan on adding light guns?
nice job.

Interesting video. Had to laugh at you glancing over at your gf(?) on the couch as you said how much you'd spent :-)
I noticed that as well lol.
Great build! Where did you get the plans for the cabinet?
Haha I bought that same keyboard for just this same reason so leave the keyboard on top of on the side with Velcro of the cab.
nice cabinet man :) - is it a 19'' 4:3 screen?
any reason why you opted for a table top and not a full cabinet?
Could tell me, did u paint your Bartop!? If so, which steps did u follow to have this aspect? Looks great!
i have a really old computer and the monitor is huge. would i have to make the bigger one instead?
Hi there just wondering what the extra button under the 6 reds are for? I think you have coin buttons I'n black at the front p1 p2 buttons and a confirm button in the middle?
Thanks!
How did you do the power cord in the back? Did you cut a hole in that faceplate? I can't find faceplates that have a male connector..
Good afternoon, how could you make the Hyperspin download link available? please

what is the the brand ,model and size of your lcd ? What is the refresh scale ? ( < 10ms ?)
Good job!
How long did it take you to research and build this project?
A little over a month. I basically did nothing but work on it - or think about working on it.
Hi, what's the name of the powerstrip I cannot find on ebay that exact product...
What are the exact measurements of the cabinet in inches??
Hello again :) I have one more question if You could plz answer it - is it a 16mm MDF or maybe thinner or thicker? Thanks
good setup?! what do you think if i did it with raspberry?
thank you
did you modify the plans to fit your monitor? I have a dell 1900fp 19 in monitor. I was wondering if I needed to change the plans or should i design new ones?
Can you play game cube with good resolution and at a good range of fps?
(Sorry for the bad english)
nice job. What is your ram specs and cpu?
This run down is really wordy. At any point do you mention the Monitor make and model? Thanks.
Hi, what do you call the "grabber locks" that stick out which you used for the button panel?

Do you have an Alternative site?
Tks.
what is "5D" ???
Between research on the build and actual installation, how long did this project take to finish completely?
A credit card to help wire? How so?
When you opened it up i wasn't expecting all the PC parts to be out in the open. That makes me 10x more afraid to build something similar to yours for some reason, is it easier or harder without a case?
What is the ideal setting ( gpu , cpu , ram ... ) for hyperspin ?
Are you using Dolphin to run those Gamecube games? I'm surprised you could get them to run on AMD.
I have a AMD CPU and GPU and have no problem running GameCube or Wii games.
What do you think about your hardware setup as far as the computer? Does it run well?
How much money did you total spend? i want to make one exactly like yours :|...
what software do you use to have the emulators and the menu screen and stuff
was the motherboard mounted to the old case and then screwed to the cab?
you say u can have remote access can you add roms that way?
Hey how much is it? can you send this to Mexico?? how much?
isnt a 1920 x 1080 better ? i mean you get a 22 inch monitor for 100 $
What are the specs of your computer?
Like what kind of motherboard you have, processor etc.
