Holy shit the amount of people crying in the comments... This tutorial is perfect. It's a tutorial showing the basic rundown of what previs is and how it fits into the pipeline. No the timelapse parts arent bad. Modelling is irrelevant, go learn that from a modelling tutorial. No the skipping isnt bad. It turns a tutorial that could be well over 3 hours of ~80% irrelevant content, into a concise look at what pre-vis is. It even has intro in the title. As in, it's an introduction to it, not a comprehensive "here is every click". He didn't do the tutorial wrong, You're just here looking for the wrong content. It's not a houdini tutorial, it's not a modelling tutorial.
really help a lot to understand the basic concept and process. It's actually quite hard for beginner to find so detailed information like this, love it!
I love the course! but I would love if you explain a little more how to use Houdini, since this is for the very beginners, and also when you were doing the 'mountains' and the animation it could have been nice if you explained how to do it, but overall this is amazing and I really appreciate you taking the time to do a free course for those who are interested in VFX and don't know how to start or don't have the money to go to school
Damn it. Why with every new iteration of Houdini does the interface of everything change so freakin much, Nothing is ever in the same place. SideFX, stop changing where everything is located. Hard enough to learn HOW to use your software, but more frustrating trying to find WHERE you hide everything from version to version. sheez!!!! So lame.
So this is an intro course, yet you take 0.1 seconds to blast to opening the file? Explain all steps please. The basics are still the basics. Thank you. I don't know how to do this yet. Sheez. Explain what you are doing!!
the cours is greeat but you are basiclly just working and thinking out loud as someone who ants to learn i think you should focus about teaching how it is done more than showing it
Hey there , thanks for sharing your perspective. While our approach may seem like thinking out loud, we aim to balance demonstrating the process and providing clear explanations. feel free to check out the rest of our tutorials

Amazing video. What version of Houdini are you using?
Will this course provide the scene files and resources to allow trainees to follow along?

If you can't drive a car on it, the monitor isn't log enough.
