Well the Whirlpool person over the phone never told me to pull the bin out and check to see if the arm was stuck in the up position. Maybe I should have known to check that but you have to pull the bin out in order to see the arm. Whirlpool had me pushing all kind of buttons on the front door. Thank you for this timely video.

This is fantastic! My ice maker had stopped making ice for over a week and I tried everything I could think of to get it working. Was about to start replacing it part by part when I found this video. I had the same code - E2. Ran the diagnostic 57 test and a few hours later I'm cranking out the ice. So helpful!! On mine turns out the water filter we replaced...it was inserted but wasn’t twisted in properly. Took it out and put it back in correctly and the water started working again. Originally I was getting the E1 code on 46.
thank you for the vid - i found our tech sheet under the plastic rail at the bottom of the fridge where you adjust the feet.
How I fixed mine... The test mode did not go up to number 57 on our fridge, so auto defrost was not an option. Our water dispenser that we hardly used was just slow. Went downstairs and disconnected the plastic supply line, AFTER turning off the needle valve. Then turned the needle valve back on and flushed it into a bucket for a couple of minutes. We have older pipes that would be prone to clogging that valve. After flushing, the water dispenser seemed marginally better. I then got a hair dryer and used it warm up/defrost the ice maker in the door as best I could for about 4 or 5 minutes. A couple of cubes were melted/dislodged. I closed the freezer door,...and it was FIXED! Not sure if it was the water pressure or the defrost that did the trick, just know the combo worked like a charm for me.

I Ran the 57 harvest test and it gave me the Zero error code. Which means the Heater and Motor are Off. How can I get these to work?

Your video was great, I made it past the 01 code but then my numbers only went up to 29 on model whirlpool GSF26C5EXW00, hopefully the system shutting down by pressing the first 2 buttons together will get it into gear since I couldn't find a sheet or a sheet on the net
I did the Ice Maker Harvest test. It just blinks 02. So I'm do know what that means. It will do that for several minutes, then goes out of that mode. Still no ice. Any suggestions?
Just had my fridge serviced for bad evaporator and compressor. Wasn’t making ice. Saw this video and found the service sheet under the hinge. Ran a couple tests and appears there was air in the water line. Thanks for the tips!

The ice maker thermistor comes with a new ice maker. These ice makers are the most difficult to replace because you have to take the whole ceiling of the refrigerator out just to get to it.

Replaced ice maker but still no ice after 48 hours. I can force water to fill the ice cube tray (test 45) and if I do that, once the ice is made, it will harvest the ice automatically. However, it will not fill the tray with water after the harvest. Thoughts?

Hello. I believe I have a whirlpool side by side because it has the exact same control panel as you showed here in your video. I NEED YOUR HELP!!! I am currently loosing all my groceries because the "cooling down" light is on and therefore, will not allow me to use the control panel AT ALL. I need to fix this pronto!! I unplugged it last night and it let me use the ice dispenser for five minutes and now, I can';t use the panel because of the cooling down indicator. What do I do!!!!
I had ice cubes frozen together blocking the arm from going down. I loosened them and the arm went down on its own. You should be able to use minimum force to see if it want retract on down
Please help. After entering the test mode my refrigerator doesn’t have a 56. The highest jt goes is 48. Plus there’s no tech sheet. The top hinges are small and done have a cover. They also have a sticker from the manufacturer that says “don’t remove screws.”
It is a different model. This video only covers the specific model. You may be able to find another video for your specific model. There is a sticker inside the fridge that will have the model number on it.
Great video!!..Got a question. I have a wrf736sdam13 and have replaced a number of parts so far. The bottom freezer coils STILL freeze up after all this. My LED readout on the front door has some issues as well..The LED display is actually faulty in a way that doesn't let me read the codes to know if they are good or not. Do I have to replace the whole Touch Pad to remedy this or is there a quick fix?..Thanks
Replace the whole user interface. unfortunately.
Worst case scenario is main board and user interface
Defrost issue will be bi metal thermostat on the freezer evaporator, defrost heater on the freezer evaporator or the main control board.

This was mostly helpful…thanks for posting! I have an IKEA fridge and the code says the ice maker fill is in the “off” position. The note on the tech sheet says to “jump ice maker thermostat T and H”. I have no idea how to do this.🤷♂️

Best info I have found on these newer models. Especially where the tech info was hidden! Had E2 and then Ran harvest three times but get 02 each time. ??? Maybe it fixed motor position just by it returning to home position but should I hear the motor running? Cause I don’t. I doubt any ice to harvest. Maybe tomorrow I will have ice for first time in months!

Most of the time you can not hear the motor running on these. Make sure you have the doors closed when running the test. Possible that you need a new ice maker. These are not easy to replace and I would recommend using a service company to replace it.
I replaced my ice maker today. It really is rather simple. I/4” nut driver socket and a straight screw driver is all that is needed. Mine is once again making ice. Took about 45 mins total to change out.

My ice maker is working, but the ice smells funny and tastes bad. We have replaced the filter and have a whole house filtration system, neutralizer, and softener. We’ve had the fridge for 5 years and never had this issue. The fridge is clean, so that’s not it either. I even added a fresh filter and two boxes of baking soda. Still smells and tastes bad (although the whole fridge smell is about 80% better).
I have had issues like that before. It was always something that was in the refrigerator/freezer causing the smell/taste. Check each item in the fridge and freezer. Smell all of the individual bags and containers. I bet you find something causing the odor. Even clean under the drawers. Sometimes things can spill and leave some residue that ends up smelling bad.

ALSO: problems with ice maker....it can make ice, but I have water sometimes leaking inside the fridge and in the icemaker part there will be frozen ice under the bucket where the ice lands.. have to break away the ice if I want to remove the ice bucket. Also sometimes water is dripping up top...inside on top left where the ice dumps from....
And sometimes the fridge almost makes popcorn type sounds. Thanks in advance for any help!

02 means the harvest did not complete. May want to try the test again and make sure the doors are closed. If the test still does not complete you may have a bad ice maker that will need to be replaced.

Uhhhg I have the same fridge and I hate it! Biggest Lemon ever. My lower ice maker is completely busted, the board for the that zone fried because every once in a while it decided to spit water. Now my ice maker up top isn’t working getting the E5 code…. This thing is only like 4 years old. Thanks for the video though at least it pointed me into a direction. I’m just thinking about junking the whole thing and getting something else at this point.

Ran test 57 but it said 0 for the longest time then I pressed sw3 again it turned to 1 then 2. What does that mean?
To activate the harvest sequence, do you just press "SW3" and let it do its thing until done. It said 0 for a long time, so I pressed it again and it changed to 1 and started doing the test. After the test I got 01, which says heater and motor are off and harvesting completed. What does that mean?
The harvest completed. If it still doesn't make ice you have a bigger issue.

Great video, I have one question. I have the same fridge and we just replaced the filter and for some reason it started leaking from where the filter is located. Do you think I have to change the filter housing or is it a more serious problem? Thanks
Make sure the filter is installed correctly and is not damaged. It is possible that the filter housing will need to be replaced. Also check to see if one of the water lines that connects to the housing is what is leaking. Always use the manufacturers replacement filter.

I have a whirlpool gold model GI6SDRXXY07. I found the diagnostic sheet but it only has 38 service tests. Didn’t see anything specific for ice maker code errors. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Not all models have diagnostics tests for the ice maker. Your model has a different ice maker than the one in this video. I have replaced many of the ice makers like yours. It is not an easy repair and i would recommend calling a service company in your area.

@@kevino9161 He hasn't responded. My husband pulled the part away from the refrigerator where the ice actually comes out before it falls into the ice bin. He said it's connected to a wire so he put it back in. The same day he did that, it started making ice!!! Maybe try that. Good luck!

You can try the ice maker fill test. If no water fills could be the ice solenoid valve. Would have to test voltage at solenoid when ice maker is calling for water. If 120 present at valve the valve needs to be replaced. If no 120 replace ice maker.

No the mover had to remove the doors to get the refrigerator into the kitchen and I think they took the tech sheet with them.

When you put it in ice maker cycle mode.what do you do thin ? Is there a button to start the cycle or you just leave it on there and wait.
When you have 57 in the display you press the SW3 button to start the harvest test. the ice maker will cycle and the display will show you the results when the test is over

No I don’t. Sorry. It is not easy to replace the ice maker on this style refrigerator. Most models have 2 1/4 inch screws recessed under the water filter door. Once those are removed you need to use a puddy knife the pry down one of the front corners of the ceiling panel until you can get you fingers in. Apply downward pressure on the ceiling panel until it pops out of its holders. Clearing the top shelves helps cause it comes down with a lot of force. I have removed many and am scared it will break every time. Usually a light connection that has to be disconnected to remove the ceiling from the fridge. There should be 2-3 screws holding the ice maker compartment in to the top of the fridge. Some models differ with the placement of the screws. One model has a hidden screw behind the heater cover of the ice maker compartment. The cover comes off by prying the top or bottom of it up with a puddy knife. It is easy to break that piece. Once the 1/4 inch screws are removed the ice maker compartment will pull forward. You have to unhook all the wire connections and remove the water line from the water valve. Once the ice compartment is out there are several 1/4 inch screws holding a cover over the ice maker. One screw is usually hidden under the fill tube heater which looks like a piece of silver tape with a wire routed in a pattern on it. Once the cover is removed you can access the ice maker. Have to disconnect a few wires and the ice maker comes out. Some wires come with the new ice maker and need to be routed back the way the old wires off the old ice maker were. Reassemble in reverse. Again, not an easy repair.

Lows didn’t leave a tek sheet on mine
I know this may seem ridiculous, but my ice maker has been out of service for a few days. I ran all the diagnostics, except for the ice bin level diagnostic. It came back as full.
Took the bin out and discovered the on off switch! It is beside the bin located in on the side of the cavity where the removable bin sits. Make sure that is switched to on! Feel like an idiot for not figuring that out before going through the entire diagnostic sheet! LOL

You can try to run the test again but that indicates that the harvest cycle did not complete. Make sure the doors are closed when running the test. The ice maker may need to be replaced.

There were no directions under the hinge or behind the plastic bar on the bottom. Where else would they be.
I was told that the newer models do not have the sheets, they have a QR code you can scan to download them. Mine is older and I do not have the diagnostic sheets and can't find them anywhere.
Thanks for the instructions. I got mine to make ice, but now the dispenser isn't working. I'm beginning to think I have a gremlin.... Anyhow, when we push the lever to get ice, it only makes a buzzing noise and the impeller won't turn. Any ideas? Thanks!
That could be many things. Possibly something in the ice bucket causing it to not turn or the dispenser motor its self.

A no cool issue will need to be diagnosed by an appliance repair service company in your area.

Thank you for this video. My Ice maker quit working after changing the filter. Worked fine before that. Removed filter to bypass, to see if it was a faulty filter, didn't work. Unplugged for 20 min, didn't work. Ran these error codes in the video. Got the E2 code, then While doing the 57 test, it flashes 21, then changes to 12 at the end. Did it a few times, but still will end up flashing 12 as a result. I have a feeling it's related to the filter change. Any advice? Thank you!
I'm sorry your ice maker quit working. If after performing these tests you still don't get ice you may need to call a service provider in your area.

I had no idea this cheat sheet was a thing. Thank you. However, I cannot seem to resolve my issue. The fridge seems to continuously run. At some point a motor seems to kick on that makes a significant more amount of noise. When I open the bottom freezer section, the noise is even louder. I have a whirlpool model number wrf990slam02. Any ideas? Anyone, any ideas?
Does it sound like a freezer fan is hitting/rubbing the ice? You can disassemble the freezer to look at it, or unplug your fridge for about 24 hours to defrost it... if the noise goes away, it's either a Drain or a Defrost problem.
If after plugging it back in, the temperature never goes back to normal within one day (freezer ~0°F, fridge ~37°F), it could be a more serious Sealed System problem.
Also, make sure the condenser coil next to the compressor is free of dust and the fan is running.

What does 10 mean after running #57?
The description in the tech sheet states the the heater is on and test is in progress. May need to try to run the test again and make sure that the door is closed during the whole test.
