This blanket was made with 400g (4x100g) of James C Brett Baby DK yarn. Click on the Lovecraft link below. It came out at 40 inches square (102cm square) The size may differ with your tension. BUT... Try this with thicker yarn or bigger hooks you can use thinner yarn and smaller hooks for a more compact dainty stitch. Bigger hooks will make it Lacyier and light. Let your imagination run with it. I have been crocheting for 53 years and am always looking for new patterns. You tube is the perfect place to find them. I really love this blanket pattern. Thank you so much for sharing☺
Thank you Alison, I just love your videos, you explain everything in a way that makes sense . I am in Australia, so when you refer to the US i just follow on. Because of your videos i can now read patterns, I could never read a pattern before, and I am totally hooked on crochet now. Love your work, Thank you!
I just wanted to let you know I began crocheting a little over a year ago at 51 years of age and you've been a wonderful teacher! Thank you so very much for putting this on UA-cam!! Much love from Virginia, USA
You are mine and my sisters favorite instructor! You have taught me so much. Your voice is so soothing that I don't get tense when things get a little challenging.
You are so welcome, and thank you to you and your sister. Keep at it crochet along and you will quickly get the hang of it. Once you make one you will want to make more.
I said the same thing. Alison has such a soft voice that I feel it definitely makes following her crochet instructions so relaxing after a ( in my case) somewhat stressful day.
Alison I just love your videos I don't know how to read patterns but I watch your videos and I learn you take your time and show us how to do it people need to stop criticizing you for the way you crochet and pronounce your words we are all different so they have nothing good to say they shouldn't say anything at all keep making your videos and keep up the good work have a safe and great day
I am new to crocheting. I completed your Virus Blanket tutorial and you did such a great job making this project easy! The blanket turn out lovely. I just gave the blanket as a baby shower gift and the new mommy loved it. Thank you!
You're an amazing lady and a great teacher. I've learned so much from you. You're so generous in sharing so many wonderful tutorials. Sending you much respect from Boston Massachusetts, USA xoxo
Congratulations. Sublime gorgeous stunning sensational wowww. I love your creations and deisigns. I crochet with a 4mm. I purchase ONLY James C Bretts yarn from LOVECRAFTS and my collection is growing. As I live in France I purchased 20 of each color and every brand from James C Brett. The Shimmer is stunning. Beautiful to crochet baby blankets and cardigans 0 - 6 months only. Nope, not for me, my grandson is 9 years today so its to giveaway to my Newfoundlands breeder. All my freinds were horrified that they were NOT SOLD. My nature is to GIVE, nobody knows what hurts in their hearts. Impatient to try your creations and post them on my timeline on Facebook. Thanks for sharing caring and making a 70 year old smile.
It is amazing how patiently you explain every detail in crocheting this gorgeous baby blanket. Indeed it is commendable!! Outstanding - I love following your instructions!
Thank you lovely lady, in my 58 years all I have ever crochet is a granny square rugs think in total 3., because of your videos I have now created 2 and free crochet a dog jacket and a tea pot cosy, for a flat top, fat spout tea pot no less. I have now started on this rug. Much love and admiration from Queensland, Australia.

Alison that’s so much for your tutorial, it was so clear and easy to follow . I’ve made a beautiful white one for my nieces upcoming christening !! Thanks again
I'm a beginner who would never have dreamed 6 weeks ago that I could follow along patterns so soon ( with plenty of rookie mistakes of course! ). Thank you for converting the UK terminology to USA. I don't live in either country but most tutorials I've watched are from the USA. I managed my magic circle, the following 3 rows but I've just counted and I only have 38 stitches. Looks like I need to frog a couple of rows out :(
Hi, Alison I have started this virus blanket and love it! The only thing I am concerned about is the part where you join for a new round mine is very obvious and a little ugly! Any solutions please?
