It's pretty rare for a band that's been around 20+ years to be making music even better than the stuff that made them famous. But Metric pulls it off. Their music is actually getting better with time. It's crazy. Amazing song.
They have proved themselves among fans, now, feeling free in the creative process. ¡True musicians go for it without asking permission! ¡So cinematographic!
its funny because Its one of my favorite band but I think exactly the opposite way : for me, the last masterpiece was fantasies. Every albums before were crazy awesome. Synthetica was pretty strong too. Albums are getting slightly worse since (even if I loved dark saturday and dressed to suppress on the last one and I think thats all). But Its great that people got vibes and chills with their "electropop side" 😄 enjoy it bros, its a magnificent band.
This is cool to see, but over the years I continue to have this feeling that Metric doesn't connect internally since blowing up post live it out. Those first 3 records of theirs are much more honest and musically intricate IMHO! But don't let me sway you, enjoy what you do!
Notice the song evolves from pessimism to optimism. Goes from cold sadness to a warm cradling hug. She has this ability to reach in and grab your heart and pull you in for a warm embrace.
Du beschreibst dieses Lied sehr gut, ich als langjähriger Metric-Fan war zu Beginn ein wenig abgeschreckt von diesem Song, aber je mehr man ihn hört umso besser findet man ihn
We saw them in Brooklyn this post November and they started out with this song. I'm used to Metric making me get all teary-eyed with the last song of the night, ("Gimme Sympathy," "Live It Out,") so I figured they'd end with "Doomscroller." Nope, first song out of the gate, it was that one and I just started bawling at "Come back to yourself from the battle..."
agreed on the progressive and contemporary part, I personally prefer old style of Metric, but they are still very solid and make enjoyable music nonetheless

Realizing that this song isn't just about the habit of doomscrolling, but a love letter to those who suffer from mental health issues, and letting them know there is always help and hope for a brighter way forward. Lots of tears, but happy tears.
no, it’s about the people who work for the awful(could it be you and all of us) and so much more. you realized wrong. and it’s about the people who have found out about what is happening and become pariahs for telling the truth
When she said: "Take something for the pain Not something to conceal it More like a magnification mirror full-size Inner echo reflecting solace revived" I really felt that.
This band.... Always had their finger to the pulse of humanity. They have a talent for finding all your raw nerves, exposing them, and comforting by showing empathy and exposing their own. ❤
I had the great privilege of seeing it live-debuted in Mexico City on May 20. It was fantastic, and credit to the band for rehearsing it well. If they made any mistakes, I wasn't aware of it!

Pretty scary what we’re all capable of doing to each other and ourselves. Doomscrolling was a way to self soothe and maybe feel like I had some control over what was happening to me and the world at large. Let’s hope we can all come back to ourselves.

Metric's music is progressive, sophisticated, always relevant, and it boggles my mind why this Canadian band has not dominated the world!
they have conquered us, its the main point 😄
it boggles my mind how many bands fit in that category. so true.
