"She's all set!" as they left headquarters in a complete mess. That is correct, cuz at this stage of life, the mind would logically be a destructive reconstructive mess. As a fan of the first movie, this seems really promising! I also love anxiety’s design. It’s supposed to have an off model freaky appearance to relate to how we get anxiety.
I think this also helps explain the mind control rooms they showed for others in the first movie and why they were so related to that person but Rileys wasn't as much.
"Boredom" is an understatement for Ennui, when it is more akin to the aimlessness and emptiness of depression, to the point where one loses interest in things that used to be exciting to them, and contributes to the malaise of "feeling lost." And people thought Sadness was a downer in the first film.
They're 100% gonna do an Ice Hockey scene with that aren't they? 1: Riley playing the thing she enjoys the most 2: Oh no she doesn't enjoy it like she used to Plot goes on from there->
Honestly with how well they handled the first movie, I'm pretty hopeful for this sequel. It still feels right and I'm interested to see how they'll handle the psychology side of this.
My main fear for this film is that they'll just repeat Joy's character arc from the first movie again; learning that the seemingly "negative" emotions are just as important as she is and learns to be less controlling. Personally, I think it'd be better if all five emotions from the first movie had a shared arc of sorts, none of them being split up like in the first movie; they're all on the same page after Joy's development in the first movie, so they're facing these new emotions as a collective.
Maybe they can go with a reverse of the last arc? In Inside Out 1 Joy tried to control everything and the problem was only fixed when she let other emotions take control. In the sequel, it could be that Joy tried to let the new emotions do their thing, like she learned Sadness had to do, but it ends up being a situation where she needs to reassert control. Anxiety, Envy, Enui, and Embarrassment all can be useful, but if you let them rule to much you will be worse off.
@@airesbattleblade732 I like that, but I hope they aren't too obvious with that message. (Like, I hope they don't have a moment where Joy tries to reassert control herself and everyone is just like "well, I guess nothing's changed after all" because then it'll just become a retread of her development from the first movie). The first movie did a good job of portraying its message without words, and I'd like that subtlety to remain in the sequel. I also hope more of the mains from the first movie than just Joy have to step in and lead Riley, at points. Like, maybe Anxiety steps in to control Riley when Fear normally would, but they eventually learn that they need to work together, maybe creating a purple and orange core memory in the process.
Don't worry about it. Literally. You have no control over what story they are telling nor how they tell it. So, just sit back. Relax. And wait. If you like it, you like it. If not, then I guess write a 2-hour video essay about it. But you're only setting yourself up for failure if you spend the next 8 months critically hoping for something that the movie never promised you.
Based on the 4 emotions that they've chosen, I've got a theory. I think all of them are the original emotions looking inwards. Basically, they're reflections of the main cast. Think about it: Anxiety is Fear About Yourself: What if I screw things up? What if everyone doesn't like me? Embarrassment is Disgust About Yourself: Why did I do that? Why am I such an idiot? Ennui is Sadness About Yourself: Why am I not having fun? Why do I not have any goals? Envy is Anger About Yourself (Most tentative one): Why can't I do that? Why does everyone else get it when I don't? I think the plot of this movie is going to be about understanding and loving yourself. Joy will attempt to find happiness in external things, but the new emotions keep hampering her efforts, and it doesn't last. Eventually, she learns to look inwards to herself, revealing a final new emotion. Self-Love/Respect (Not sure on the name) Self-Love/Respect is Joy About Yourself: I'm doing alright. I nailed that assignment. Even if things go wrong, I'm still okay.
I mean you're half right. But none of those are solely inwardly expressed or felt. If we go off what you're saying about those 4 emotions then everything we feel is only about ourselves. It's a lot more nuanced than that. *I don't mean any disrespect by the way, just thought someone would comment about how those 4 emotions are not solely pointed inward, but no one did, so here I am. lol Like, how anxiety can definitely be about other things outside of yourself making you feel anxious, or being embarrassed for someone else or by someone else, never thought of ennui as being some self-reflective thing the way you're describing...it's more of "having the blahs" to put it simply, and that last one about envy feels inverted a little. We feel everything inwardly, in our own little worlds, so to call those 4 new emotions "the original emotions looking inwards" feels reductive. It's one half of the equation. I'll never check this again, so feel free to reply in any rude or hateful way you'd like (this is directed at anyone reading this lol), I hope it brings you peace. I really mean that. Thanks for letting me rant. Take care, internet strangers. Hug someone you care about, you never know how much time you have left with them. ❤ **except you, Billy, it's 8 months. Happy Holidays.
I wanna say Fear and Anxiety are more abstracted than humanoid since they’re both very fickle concepts and often with fear + anxiety is that it’s irrational, exaggerated, and often doesn’t stay between the lines
It seems that way now, but I bet Disney is going to force a level of marketability on the movie that will make it terrible but easy to squeeze cash out of. Like how incredibles 2 was trash
Probably they will for the charachter but for Riley it will be more realistic, the same happens with the other emotions they were exagereted themselfs but when Riley feel does emotions it look complety normal
The characters on the inside will probably be very over exaggerated, like in first film where anger absolutely RAGING=Riley yelling. But how the anxiety manifests in Riley irl might be more realistic.
I immediately love Anxiety’s design, going off the main group, I’m assuming they’re meant to be based off a pencil topper, a stress toy, or a volcano(their hair being the erupting magma)
Anxiety is a new mascot for autism and I'm feeling a lot of anxiety about this sequel. I think it's a cashgrab that's going to poorly represent autism.
i don't mind Rileys new hair style, but the thing i really like most is the detail that she has braces now. Since in the original movie you could see that her teeth were growing an not positioning correctly so i'm glad they let Riley get braces to help her smile and that its not the stereotype of 'You're getting older, you need braces just because'
Hope they can explain why the new emotions are absent from the last movie. Also, maybe the new emotions are essentially branches of the emotions we see. For example, Anxiety is associated to Fear.
I think the original emotions are just introductory ones that all kids are familiar with and as you get older and enter puberty you become aware of other emotions and these new ones are ones all teens relate to
i like that they have both fear and anxiety because to me fear seems more based on physical threats and anxiety will probably be more emotional threats
Ennui is kind of hitting close to home for me right now because I’m feeling that a lot. I wouldn’t describe it as boredom, I don’t get bored more often than I used to, it’s more like dissatisfaction. You just feel unaccomplished with your life, it feels like you’re living in a filler episode and you’re not sure if the plot will ever continue. It’s probably what fuels teens’ desires to be “cool” as well as other things like midlife crises. Actually, anxiety, embarrassment, ennui, and envy sound like the perfect crew for a “I want to be cool/different” setup. They all play really nicely into that aspect of teenage life.
Lol I get that I’ve had to sit and basically do nothing for eight months as I wait for college to start. So I’m essentially doing nothing beyond a minimum wage job for months on end and it driving me insane
honestly, i feel like the whole "kids want to seem cool" idea is something adults slap onto kids they themselves don't understand or see as valid lol. Maybe i just wasn't going through a vapid phase? or maybe i'm mistaking what you deem as a"cool". but for me, i didn't choose to be cool, it just happened since i was taking joy in discovering tastes in things disregarding what anyone thought, and it was the best thing anyone could do
I can already think of a joke they'd do with Ennui "What does that mean?" "Listlessness, generally slow and dissatisfied." "So... boredom?" "Yeah, but I got bored of that."
I can honestly see this happening in a scene where they'll be in school. Maybe being middle school they can have that emotion kick in and take over when they're in a classroom about History or Math. Who knows? 🥱 Got a good scene playing in my head AS I was typing that, putting that character's color as Gray and in my own school's classes I hated waiting in 🤣🤣😅☺
I am looking forward to that! I know Pixar can make good movies and we have seen it with toy story and I really think this gem of a movie deserves a sequel.
Before today, I never thought I'd say I love Anxiety, but I do. I'm really looking forward to this one. Given how amazing the first movie turned out, and most of the people working on it, I'm sure this will be great too. And I can't wait to see all the different emotion interactions.
this does naturally still raise the question of "If these emotions can be personified too, why did everyone in the first movie who's heads we also saw inside of, including several people at the very end for a series of silly gags and bits, only have those base five emotions as well, where were all these other emotions in everyone else's heads?
@@MillyThe_Rat buddy, let me have fun, i'm not going up to kids and telling them they aren't allowed to enjoy the film because i personally jokingly found a plot hole that i actually don't care about, this is how i enjoy movies like this, just lay off of me and let people on the internet just enjoy cartoons the way they wanna enjoy cartoons
@@MillyThe_Ratyeah, and all those kids are going to movies alone right? 🙄 It's a plot hole, so of course people are gonna ask questions. Chill tf out.
I am SO excited for this movie. I am 13 currently, and remember watching inside out so much growing up. I loved it and my parents were big on mental health, so we watched it a lot. Seeing Riley going through what I’m going through right now, I feel is such and important thing for Pixar to be showing.
I have a singular problem with these 4 new emotions. Do they just disappear as someone grows up? Since neither Riley's mother or father have any of these. Or are these "new" emotions eventually just have a floor below the grand main emotion command center? Are they in hibernation when not needed or felt? How does this work?
I saw a comment on the trailer saying that it was because children have a sightly more limited perception of more complicated emotions. It's because Riley could not tell what her parents were feeling, beyond the terms that she herself knows. It would be like trying to imagine a new colour.
Personally, I don't feel like anxiety is a subset of fear because you can feel anxious without feeling afraid. Also, I feel like anxiety mixed with joy can give you a sort of excitement as well as being scared, but can also give to depression or panic attacks and possibly other emotions. I'm actually really excited to see boredom, embarrassment, and envy the characters listed in the first trailer.😊
the entire place turning into a mess after the puberty button was hit is a really accurate detail , when you go into puberty your mind tends to be all over the place due to hormones , mood swings and maturing and stuff
I'm so happy to see all of the Emotions again, especially with their VAs reprising their roles! Definitrly love Anxiety, and can't wait to see the other new Emotions that comes with puberty 🥰
Fear makes me want to protect myself, and anxiety has driven me to try to hurt myself. I, myself, would make them different emotions as well. Related, sure, they work together, sure, but it doesn't FEEL the same. Fear is productive, and anxiety feels destructive.
T H I S, I don't know what message they will express with Anxiety, but if they make it the "Oh, all emotions are there to make us who we are, we have to accept them all" with ANXIETY, I don't know think that will work... It may be because I'm not receiving proper treatment for my anxiety yet but anxiety is one of the worst things that ever happened to me, and Pixar trying to make it a good thing doesn't feel right....
@@T_TeobokkiI don’t know if they’re trying to make it a good thing but rather overcome it, there may be a moment where anxiety reaches for the controls but she backs off due to seeing something occur.
@@T_TeobokkiAnxiety is something that is always with us, makes us alert and helps to protect us. Helps us to adapt and is a normal response to stressing situations. The problem is when anxiety becomes something that interferes with our daily life and is more of an obstacle than a help.

I feel like it makes sense to separate Fear from Anxiety. Fear is a rational feeling, Anxiety is an irrational version of Fear. But I do agree that Fear had these Anxious aspects to him during the first movie, so I'm interested in seeing how these two characters work together or work apart from one another or how they will differ from one another and the craziness that will be caused. Honestly it will be so interesting to see all new emotions interact with the others: Sadness and Ennui Fear and Anxiety Anger and Envy Disgust and Embarrassment
I love how anxiety does some hand flapping. Hand flapping can help release excess energy, such as anxious energy, though not limited to just that kind.
The main thing I've noticed is all of the emotions have the same eye color as their main color except of course Joy- and Anxiety. Even the other new emotions have the same eye color to match themselves but Anxiety's pops green. I feel like this contrast that's in both Joy and Anxiety indicates the main story focus is on them- which makes sense because anxiety spikes at that age and we are a generation full of high intense anxiety. I'm a bit expectant that in Joy and Anxiety's conflict it may have a similar moment as she had with Sadness in how they blend and we'll see them create excitement for the unknown that is the future.
I just watched the teaser for it and I am SO excited because I remembered Anxiety was supposed to be in the movie originally but they cut it. I think this is such a cool and amazing idea for a sequel and I can’t wait!
One problem about the movie: The parents had had the same emotion of Riley and if it is now said there are more than five. Would the parents already have these emotions in the first movie? Edit: For all , I didn't say i hate this movie I just pointed this plothole out I really think i would be very good
I'm calling it now, Riley is gonna have an anxiety attack in this movie since that seems to be the new trend in animation...and this is kinda the perfect movie for that opportunity.
Will probably be another of Disney's 'girl character gets her first period ' stories like with Turning Red and an episode of one of their tv network cartoons.
I'm just wondering how their gonna explain the absence of these new emotions in other people, notably adults, in the first movie. Do the new four get their own place? Are they absorbed into the main five as a subset of emotions? I want to think of the latter, because Riley's parent's emotions seemed a lot more nuanced then her's were, and different emotions were "in charge" as opposed to always being Happiness. I guess I want to say that this movie will attempt to explain in its special way that emotions evolve as we get older and every person has they're own interpretation of each emotion.
Before you showed the clip where Anxiety said what they were, I called it. Shows how good they are at designing emotions. 8:28 dark purple (far right) is ennui, they just look bored. Cyan (far left) is envy, because they are the greenest and "green with envy" is a common saying, that just leaves pink (middleish) as embaresment. These are logical guesses.
Actually you’re on point cause if you go to the end of the trailer you will notice the names for the characters (like anger and joy for example) changes color depending their dominant color for example with Anger he is mostly red (not counting his clothes) and his name is a reddish color. So assuming they are using that logic for the others: Anxiety is orange (which we knew since she was in the trailer) Embarrassed (or embarrassment I’m not sure what they are gonna pick for them for the movie) is the pinkish purple. Envy is teal (I think it’s teal? It’s a mix between blue and green since they aren’t fully blue nor fully green either) who is the far left one based on the poster And Ennui is the darkish purple one.
i think it would be great for anxiety to be written as a mental disorder rather than an emotion and that's why she looks so different from the main crew. I'd ADORE that, honestly!! I'm hopeful for this movie :D
I know! Mental health is a much more recognized and understood thing now, it's important to spread awareness. However, seeing as this is going to be an all-ages movie made for the primary purpose of making money, I really don't think they will make Anxiety a disorder. Besides, everyone experiences anxiety, and it's only a disorder if starts to affect your every day life.
@@inacattbut it’s still a condition and not an emotion, just like some people said they’d like to see depression too. I just think it’s wrong to spread misinformation
Most of these additional emotions are extensions of the existing ones. Perhaps these new emotions merge with the existing ones, with the original characters becoming more complex. This tracks well with the increasing sophistication of teenage development.
The main things I dislike about it is that the first movie establishes that adults have just 5 emotions. The new emotions feel like a way to force interaction instead of exploring the original 5 more.
To be completely honest, as somebody with Generalized Anxiety Disorder, I'm extremely excited for this movie. I actually really like Anxiety's design, they're a lot more cartoony, fun and expressive than the other "human-like" emotions. There's so many different directions they could go with potraying teenage anxiety. I really hope we get actually good anxiety representation, because historically portrayal of people with anxiety falls into two categories - "Haha this person is having an anxiety attack! Isn't that funny?" or "Emo teenager who hates eveything and everyone and really needs a hug". My type of anxiety is different from others, I don't have very obvious anxiety attacks, only mental breakdowns that happen mostly in my head. And when I do snap and have a meltdown, I can easily recover from it (Albeit I will really most likely remember that meltdown for a extremely long time considering the fact that a lot of them have been quite traumatic for me). Anxiety is a spectrum that most people don't realize is one, and I'd love to see this movie showcase the spectrum. With this and several other pieces of media, I'm glad that anxiety is getting represented properly and not treated as a joke in Western media, although I do have to admit that the portrayal of anxiety in anime like Bocchi The Rock is still better
I’m looking forward to it! My only worry is that Anxiety’s design looks like this character is going to be an annoying character. But I’ll just have to wait and see.
As I trudge my way through grade 9, and get ready for the behemoth that is high school, I’m actually really excited for how this movie tackles teenagehood. The change from “being a kid” to “a pre-adult” is a tiring, complicated, mess of a journey that i’m still working on, and showcasing that journey through different emotions has the chance to be really amazing. Pixar, please don’t mess this up, because if I have ever watched what you did with the first movie, I know you are capable of creating an absolute rocket of a feature film, and one that everyone, including myself, and look back on as fondly as we have with the original.
Yes! Highschool wasn't that bad. I'd say I didn't start "worrying" until my junior and definitely my senior year. That's because college preparation and applications were underway. But you'll be fine. Just have fun make friends and cool memories and keep up with your studies!
Your comment is very well written, so I can at least say you’re prepared for your high school English classes. 😂 As someone who just graduated HS, it’s not easy, but there are good parts too. Make the most of it, and I hope it’s really enjoyable for you! All the best!
I wonder if these new emotions would vanish after puberty or would they be more in a back seat like how the other 4 emotions were when Joy taken over before the move?
@@AngelicMerciLiterally my exact thoughts. I had an entire minute looking into space while wondering why the other emotions were absent in the minds of others.
@@exotic_butters2897 my thought was that maybe the parents got better at dealing with them, due to growing up and becoming more sure of themselves as people? envy, anxiety, and embarrassment are common emotions, though they're more felt in people who aren't entirely comfortable in their identities (such as teenagers); i'm not sure about ennui, maybe it's supposed to be a stand-in for teenage depression/some form of emotional burnout?
I do personally believe this is gonna be a great movie. I think Fear is gonna be more closer or kind to Anxiety while the other emotions feel a bit uncomfortable and weird since traits of Fear and Anxiety are similar and they would understand each other. But who knows! :)
Even though it’s not really a big detail but I do love how Anxiety has a lot of bags which could/is an example of overthinking which does happen a lot with anxiety.
inside out was a super important movie for me. i was the same age as riley when it came out and was going through the exact same thing - recently moved to a new area and new school where i knew no one. it was so comforting to know what i was going through was so normal and common it could be a relatable movie plot
I'm really glad we're getting anxiety representation. It's hard to explain, but the DISORDER anxiety is VERY different from general nervousness and fear. I love anxiety's design, and I think their arc will be very interesting. Especially maybe learning that you don't have to get rid of anxiety, just make it more manageable (especially since the disorder can't really be cured, at least not in the short term)
Im waiting. Not for the movie, but for the "Anxiety" toys. That is going to be hilarious, because, imagine this: A kid and his dad walk into a store, and the kid sees the Anxiety toy and goes "Daddy daddy, i want Anxiety! "
Being a young teen myself, it's (hopefully) gonna be nice seeing how puberty and whatnot is being portrayed in this movie. I loved the original Inside Out as a kid so it's pretty funny how the sequal is comming out at that same anxiety-filled/mentally ill time in my life right now. Teenagehood sucks tbh, take care everyone.
The new emotions really surprised me. But i gotta say that I really like that they use ennoi. The feeling of not being productive, fullfilled or wasting time is something that should really get more attention
I still haven’t seen the original movie… but I’m a huge fan of Michael Giacchino’s scores and the inside out track for “Bundle of Joy” just makes me feel so much…
my thing is wondering what the new designs are based on Joy is a star, Sadness is a teardrop, Anger is a fire brick, Disgust is Broccoli and Fear is a nerve what of the new ones then? The one we see in this trailer looks like one of the Koopa kids with that hair
Ngl i think anxiety's outfit is super cute, comfy looking striped jumper with boot cut ?corduroy? trousers and the boots, the outfit has a comfy autumn feel imo lol.
0:08 RIGHT, I’M SO EXCITED FOR THIS MOVIE. I SCREAMED INTO A PILLOW WHEN I SAW THIS TEASER. Inside out was my favorite Pixar movie when I was a kid. And now I’m 14 and I can experience this film now that I’m older.
I was hoping that orange could have been an emotion like “surprise” or something… maybe that’s the plot twist, it’s like “SUPRISE! IM NOT ANXIETY, I’m SUPRISE!”
I hope so, because it should have been Surprise... And the others... why aren't they just a mix of other emotions like in the memory orbs? Probably just creative decisions, and they'll probably justify them, but still, why?
@@DAVINNIA314 Exactly. Suprise may at first look like a mixture of Joy and Fear, but it’s much more than that. It’s the feeling of suspense, suspicion, intrigue, fascination, etc.
@@T0B3573R Not only that (which is all true), if you look it up online; Surprise is listed as the 6th Basic Emotion... Really no idea why they chose Anxiety, but it'll be good anyways.
@@DAVINNIA314 FR. Like, six colors, six EMOTIONS, like, how can you be so blind to such a perfect opportunity? Also, orange is a perfect color to represent surprise. It hints at more, like a sunset, or a fox, or a butterfly, they all represent something like curiosity, the future, mystery, and adventure. And that feeling isn’t like joy, it’s more like being engrossed in something to a point that you’ve forgotten where you were. Like playing an instrument, just passion and interest everywhere. Also, In a way, Joy and Sadness are both two sides of the same thing, and Fear and Anger could be considered two sides as well, (Fight or Flight), So it makes sense to me that Surprise and Disgust we’re coupled together as well as emotions. Because they represent feelings like, disdain, loathing, avoidance, or just being revolted by something, then it only makes sense that it’s parallel would be being involved in something, being excited or interested in something, having your expectations being more, like wonder, surprise, amazed, about something.
something i liked was how the anxiety creature flapped their arms to stim, it’s so nice seeing stimming in animations, especially cause that’s something i do a lot
Honestly looking forward to this one. I feel like there’s a lot of aspects Pixar can explore with a sequel to Inside Out, I’ll most likely watch this when it comes out
I wonder if Pixar will be brave enough to give us a reason why Riley's emotions arent all girls. Her parents and even her crush all had single gendered emotions. I know if they make Riley nonbinary, the whole woke scolding crowd will shit on the movie. If they don't im curious to know what other explanations they'll have.
If they do that they are done for but ignoring that. It could be her dads love for hockey rubbing off on her. The mom likes hockey but the dad can't stop thinking about it. So it could be her dads masculinity rubbing off on her ever so slightly. Besides. There are more females in her mind than males.
@@Gander6309-KranchTheDestroyerYeah, I think it's simply to show that she's a tomboy, still a girl but not into all the frilly girly stuff as much as hockey and roughhousing. Perhaps that will change as she becomes a teenager, - it would be funny to see the masculine emotions start acting more feminine and subsequently hating it ngl
@@rowanrois Thanks for common sense and not jumping on the stupid "nonbinary" shit. We're all male and female. People need to suck it up and deal with it.
I’d be happy with that but I always thought the emotions are shaped by each parent, her anger and fear must be similiar to her dads, and the same for the moms joy, sadness and disgust. Honestly those scenes in the parent’s heads even though they are gags, through a lot of stuff into question, like they didn’t have an anxiety… things are getting fucky.
I'm mixed about this On one hand: It's an ok idea i guess and it does give in for more ideas in the world of Riley's Mind One the other hand tho: It's another cash-grab making day for Disney except it's not as infuriating
I wouldn't call it a cash grab if we haven't even seen the full movie yet but I do understand that having trust issues with Disney making movies as of late would definitely rise a suspicion of hopelessness
Ennui sounds rather accurate to how you depicted it. Emptiness and a sensation of “blegh.” I like the idea that Riley, just might, doubtfully… but might be actually shown with some sense of depression. It would be great representation to children who realize their newfound selves are.. well, broken. Started out with a poor hand. I doubt they’ll ever play such a daring card, but it’d be nice to show parents how to handle their children’s mental health. And to teach children how to handle their emotions, and how to accept and personify them. They’re not evil. They’re you
I love how anxiety looks. Her hair makes me mad in a way, like I want it to go away. But that’s kinda anxiety is you want it to go away but you can’t make it leave.
Tbh anxiety goes together with fear so making this character it's own thing when fear is already existing in the cast is kinda pointless. Why not make "love" based on a teen crush or "envy" which also relates to teens?
Exactly! It doesn't even have to be romantic love alone. It can be any kind of fondness that a person develops more and more of through life. Or compassion/empathy, or as you pointed out "envy", or "desire" (again, doesn't have to be romantic, could just be a longing for something beyond what you have. Children tend to be quite content with little, but as you grow you often tend to desire more).
Apart of me hopes this movie acknowledges female periods. Ever since Turning Red and the Ghost and MM I've been supporting periods becoming more common to talk about in the media. It does annoy me that people treat talking about periods as an adult topic not suitable for children when girls as young as 10 can get there period. I also don't like how media makes it seem like only women need to learn about periods and yet its fine for men to learn about pregnancies. I believe if something is a natural human process then everyone should learn about it regardless if only happens to one gender. It's like people forget there are single dads out there with daughters that have to learn to manage this stuff. Another apart of me worries how this story can portray periods without resorting to overused clichies such as its awkward for men to deal with.
This movie doesn't need to mention periods, but it may. Just use your f*cking brain because periods can effect literally anyone who has the organs that cause it.
One of the things I like about the og Inside Out emotions is that they're not just color coded they rely on shape language. Sadness is a tear drop, Joy is a star, Anger is a square, Disgust is a triangle, and Fear is either a squiggle or a question mark. What shape is Anxiety supposed to be? A palm tree? An anchor? A guitar? Maybe a line? Like I know the new emotions have to be new shapes but I just can't see what they're supposed to even be.
I wish there were other inherently positive emotions introduced. Yes being a teenager has its downsides but it also brings so much growth that is positive. Teenage hood shouldn’t be seen inherently as bad :(
Trying to game with the homies, and realizing you guys have work/school. Trying to juggle a relationship and spending time with close friends. Adult Inside Out would be interesting for a very different reason.
I really hope they don’t go for a relationship embarrassment and more of little things we all kinda get embarrassed about like tripping or spilling something and hope they show that it’s okay and mistakes happen and they happen to everyone.
i REALLY don’t want them to mess this one up. after toy story 4 and incredibles 2 were really disappointing sequels to my favorite movies in pixar’s catalogue, i don’t want to get my hopes up too much, but it does look pretty good so far, so i am pretty excited

So like when Riley's emotions started turning grey in the last film?
Honestly with how well they handled the first movie, I'm pretty hopeful for this sequel. It still feels right and I'm interested to see how they'll handle the psychology side of this.
I swear to God I saw a comment almost exactly like this in the trailer
@@stopgont7360I mean it is a pretty basic comment
Yup, Pixar can handle psychology very good when they take themselves seriously
@@stopgont7360 OMG SAME
My main fear for this film is that they'll just repeat Joy's character arc from the first movie again; learning that the seemingly "negative" emotions are just as important as she is and learns to be less controlling.
Sorry but that’s too caring about things for Disney’s Pixar, you must expect the death of creativity

Think about it:
Anxiety is Fear About Yourself: What if I screw things up?
Self-Love/Respect (Not sure on the name)
Self-Love/Respect is Joy About Yourself: I'm doing alright. I nailed that assignment. Even if things go wrong, I'm still okay.
I like your theory and it does explain why they would add emotions that are already similar to existing ones!
Oooh, I dunno if that’s what they’re going for but that’s a really cool idea. I like that a lot.
So would pride be happiness about yourself? Inside out 3 confirmed already?
hire this person already
I mean you're half right. But none of those are solely inwardly expressed or felt.
If we go off what you're saying about those 4 emotions then everything we feel is only about ourselves.
It's a lot more nuanced than that.
*I don't mean any disrespect by the way, just thought someone would comment about how those 4 emotions are not solely pointed inward, but no one did, so here I am. lol
Like, how anxiety can definitely be about other things outside of yourself making you feel anxious, or being embarrassed for someone else or by someone else, never thought of ennui as being some self-reflective thing the way you're describing...it's more of "having the blahs" to put it simply, and that last one about envy feels inverted a little.

I wanna say Fear and Anxiety are more abstracted than humanoid since they’re both very fickle concepts and often with fear + anxiety is that it’s irrational, exaggerated, and often doesn’t stay between the lines
This makes a lot of sense
I actually think in this case, an Inside Out Sequel could work due to the subject matter
A series going through how emotions grow and change over time and learning about new ones could be really interesting..!
I am 100% certain they saw that one Inside Out 2 parody from years ago and said "holy fuck why didnt we think about this"

I hope they represent anxiety in an accurate way and not in an overexagerated way. Thats really my only concern.
I’m sure it will be a little exaggerated since yknow…
They ARE the personification emotions
Probably they will for the charachter but for Riley it will be more realistic, the same happens with the other emotions they were exagereted themselfs but when Riley feel does emotions it look complety normal
The characters on the inside will probably be very over exaggerated, like in first film where anger absolutely RAGING=Riley yelling.
But how the anxiety manifests in Riley irl might be more realistic.
what do you think now?
I love the subtleties of Anxiety's movements- such as the stimming of the hands, or the straightening of the hair- i'm really looking forwards to this
I immediately love Anxiety’s design, going off the main group, I’m assuming they’re meant to be based off a pencil topper, a stress toy, or a volcano(their hair being the erupting magma)
Anxiety looks like Murphy from the Rayman franchise with Iggy's hair on top.

i don't mind Rileys new hair style, but the thing i really like most is the detail that she has braces now. Since in the original movie you could see that her teeth were growing an not positioning correctly so i'm glad they let Riley get braces to help her smile and that its not the stereotype of 'You're getting older, you need braces just because'
Yeah, that's cool!
Nice detail you picked up. I wouldn’t have noticed that. 👍🏻
Oh that's such a good lil detail!
BRAIN BLAST: Riley is gonna possible be embarrassed and maybe even bullied about her braces
Hope they can explain why the new emotions are absent from the last movie.
Also, maybe the new emotions are essentially branches of the emotions we see.
For example, Anxiety is associated to Fear.
It's obviously because Riley is entering a new stage of life of course new things come in
could be that they're just there for puberty? usually, imagine some of them staying longer than needed.
Puberty: *exists*
Oh that's interesting. there are 4 new emotions for the 5 original cast, if they are related this way I wonder who doesn't get new branch?
I think the original emotions are just introductory ones that all kids are familiar with and as you get older and enter puberty you become aware of other emotions and these new ones are ones all teens relate to
i like that they have both fear and anxiety because to me fear seems more based on physical threats and anxiety will probably be more emotional threats
Like, you get anxiety about a major test coming up. You're not actually afraid of the test.

Maybe i just wasn't going through a vapid phase? or maybe i'm mistaking what you deem as a"cool".
but for me, i didn't choose to be cool, it just happened since i was taking joy in discovering tastes in things disregarding what anyone thought, and it was the best thing anyone could do
I can already think of a joke they'd do with Ennui

"Listlessness, generally slow and dissatisfied."
"So... boredom?"
"Yeah, but I got bored of that."

Will probably be another of Disney's 'girl character gets her first period ' stories like with Turning Red and an episode of one of their tv network cartoons.
She did
I'm just wondering how their gonna explain the absence of these new emotions in other people, notably adults, in the first movie.
So assuming they are using that logic for the others:
Anxiety is orange (which we knew since she was in the trailer)
Embarrassed (or embarrassment I’m not sure what they are gonna pick for them for the movie) is the pinkish purple.
Envy is teal (I think it’s teal? It’s a mix between blue and green since they aren’t fully blue nor fully green either) who is the far left one based on the poster
And Ennui is the darkish purple one.
It makes sense that pink is embarrassment since when people get embarrassed, they get flushed n stuff

The new emotions really surprised me. But i gotta say that I really like that they use ennoi. The feeling of not being productive, fullfilled or wasting time is something that should really get more attention
I still haven’t seen the original movie… but I’m a huge fan of Michael Giacchino’s scores and the inside out track for “Bundle of Joy” just makes me feel so much…
my thing is wondering what the new designs are based on
Joy is a star, Sadness is a teardrop, Anger is a fire brick, Disgust is Broccoli and Fear is a nerve
what of the new ones then? The one we see in this trailer looks like one of the Koopa kids with that hair
It looks like Rare Wubbox from My Singing Monsters.
Ngl i think anxiety's outfit is super cute, comfy looking striped jumper with boot cut ?corduroy? trousers and the boots, the outfit has a comfy autumn feel imo lol.
"Ennui" is litterally the french translation of "Boredom", didn't know it was used in english
I just hope it isn’t the Quirky Anxiety that is done way too often.
Considering it's current day Disney-Pixar and the design, it really does look like that's where they're going with this. It's a pass from me.
@@CinnamonGrrlErin1 I’m really not looking forward to the sequel honestly, I think it was just fine as one movie
The new one looks like rare Wubbox from My Singing Monsters
I already made a 10 euro bet that "Envy" is going to be the villain
@@DAVINNIA314 Yeah.
The thing is, inside out 2 is bringing FEELINGS on the table, now we have emotions and feelings
The orange guy looks like Wubbox if he was from the Trolls movies.
Or maybe they made the emotions a mix of male and female to have a wide range of voices that fit the characters. 🤷♀
I'm mixed about this
On one hand: It's an ok idea i guess and it does give in for more ideas in the world of Riley's Mind
One the other hand tho: It's another cash-grab making day for Disney except it's not as infuriating
How is it a Cashgrab when the 1st movie was so well loved?
You really kinda have to deal with this being a cash grab
Not even sequel is a cash crab
basically any movie released these days are a cash grab
I wouldn't call it a cash grab if we haven't even seen the full movie yet but I do understand that having trust issues with Disney making movies as of late would definitely rise a suspicion of hopelessness
I’m 13, I’m at the age where seeing anxiety and other puberty emotions is going to hit so hard
Ennui sounds rather accurate to how you depicted it. Emptiness and a sensation of “blegh.”
I like the idea that Riley, just might, doubtfully… but might be actually shown with some sense of depression.
They’re you
I’m such a fan of the first inside out so I’m excited to see the second one
Riley will have four new emotions anxiety, ennui, embarrassment, and envy
I love how anxiety looks. Her hair makes me mad in a way, like I want it to go away. But that’s kinda anxiety is you want it to go away but you can’t make it leave.
When I saw the thumbnail, I literally heard "wubbabunga, path not found" in my head, Ive been playing too much msm
Navy: Ennnui/Boredom
Pink: Embarassment
Teal/Cyan: Envy
Orange: Anxiety
Tbh anxiety goes together with fear so making this character it's own thing when fear is already existing in the cast is kinda pointless. Why not make "love" based on a teen crush or "envy" which also relates to teens?
Envy is a mix of disgust and anger..
Envy is gonna be in the movie
@@Viviano_Magami Nope, it's more of a mix of desire - which doesn't seem to exist in the universe - and anger, if anything.
@@js66613 I hope they don't go the "childhood crush" route because that'd suck
Really hoping they don’t make Anxiety another “adorkable” character because anxiety itself is already perceived as that in media
Anxiety is a good thing.
@@HauntakuTVis it now 🤨
@@HauntakuTV HUH?💀
Anxiety perfectly resembles mine, i love how she tries to smile but is so paranoid
Pixar previously:
-What if toys had feelings?
-What if cars had feelings?
-What if feelings had feelings?
Pixar now:
-WHAT IF FEELINGS HAD ANXIETY?!?!
Fear is supposed to be shaped on a nerve i think
a dog
Anxiety is a shape that causes anxiety over thinking about what shape anxiety is supposed to be.
Maybe a mushroom cloud. Kinda random but I think it makes sense somehow, also works with the orange
@@Haunted_Plushbecause your brain explodes from overthinking.
I'm not going to lie as a My singing monsters player anxiety looks like a wub box
Why does the anxiety emotion look exactly like Wubbox from My Singing Monsters? 😂😂
I just got an ad about Inside Out 2 while almost watching this video
I wish there were other inherently positive emotions introduced. Yes being a teenager has its downsides but it also brings so much growth that is positive. Teenage hood shouldn’t be seen inherently as bad :(
Imagine they make a *3rd movie* where Riley was an *adult* dealing with *adult emotions*
Trying to game with the homies, and realizing you guys have work/school.
Trying to juggle a relationship and spending time with close friends.
Adult Inside Out would be interesting for a very different reason.
Imagine if there's a sexual emotions 💀
Also a 4th movie when riley have to deal with the third age and accept she is going to die
i wish this movie talked about this, as a 19 year old it wold be nice to see someone and be like “wow, just like me fr”
Anxiety's design looks great, I never realized how bland all the original emotions look (especially the female ones)
As a 13 year old inside out 2 looks like it’ll be rlly freaking relatable oh and with the new emotion anxiety I could already see the relatable ness coming
