- The video shows how to install the gear shift knob in the Crystal Series in a BMW 2 Series Gran Coupe (F44), 3 Series Sedan (20), 4 Series Coupe, Convertible and Gran Coupe (G22, G23, G26), 8 Series Convertible, Coupe and Gran Coupe (G14, G15, G16), X5 (G05), X6 (G06) and X7 (G07).
Why is there no videos ANYWHERE that shows how to remove the center console. My son, who’s tech savvy and has replaced a number of OEM parts on a number of cars has had a hell of a time removing it. A short video would help everyone I’m sure.
It takes 5 mins to remove the center console, just search for instructions in bmw tis. 2 screws from each side of the console under the carpet side trim, pull up the console and disconnect wiring)

where did you buy the crystal gear shift
I have this crystal shifter from Mankalei Lab however it does not have the cutouts on the bottom plastic piece that is inserted into the slot. What is the solution to this?
Hello, I have a question because I know that the battery should be disconnected for safety reasons, what if my car is a hybrid BMW X5 45E 2020, is it enough to disconnect the standard batteries or will the power supply still be from the batteries that are in the floor of the hybrid, how many exactly and where to disconnect the batteries. Did you say for the 2020/21 mild hybrid you only disconnect one battery(rear)?
Will this fit the m135i x? Do you need take the whole console out to replace?

Hi. Can you help me? I change de shift for the crystal shift, but I did it with the battery connected and I put it in the car, i dont take off the shift of the car. I change it connected to the car. When I start the car, appears a message that said that the P botton is not connected. And i cant move the gear to D or N or R. Dont change the gear. I put the original again and continues the problem. I reset the car disconnecting the baterry all night, and continue the problem and I cant move the car 😮😢. I hope you understand my bad English. Thanks

make sure you let your car in sleep mode and after that problem is most of the times solved. maybe you also need to erase fault codes. hope you already solved the problem. If not you fried your gear selector module 😅

What if the batteries were not disconnected in the gasoline engine and now none of the gearshift levers work.

This happened to me how did you get it fixed?
@@WayneHunt2 I had to purchase a new selector. In my case, the connecting tape was damaged which burned the selector's motherboard

No, the installation for G12 7 Series is different and more complicated.

what if you have an i4 or iX bmw... is it fine to disconnect only the front battery? not sure if there is another place to disconnect a battery... please confirm?

So how can you take out the shifter console in an i4 if it too will fry the console. Is a dealer the only one that can do this install?
If there are any official instructions for the i4, I would really appreciate it! I have two i4 m50’s and got these crystal shifter kits. Would like to do it myself as i have worked on tons of cars, but never any electric cars

When you do this, dhow did the system taking the new knob ? Did the system give you the "P Button Not Functioning" and your shifter still working properly ?

@@lewisconnell1234 i took to the dealer and they replaced the whole shifter assembly at no cost since i ‘m still under warranty

Dealership is saying my brand new 2022 car is broken cause I did this and they want me to pay out of pocket. I disconnected all batteries before doing this.

There are instructions on car-analysis.com on how to extract the center gear console from the car. This step is vehicle-dependent and can therefore not be included in the video.
