Frontiers has better Ikran functions + you can use it anytime and even custom it and use weapons from it so this makes it a lot more useful (dearhorse is same as at 2009 and Frontiers cannot custom or have one of your own only find it in wild)
It was a pain to master but once you did it was actually kinda fun. I spent hours just messing with the flight mechanics and I’d gotten so attuned to them that I literally landed half on top Beyda’amo, because it was quicker than walking all the way to him, because the ikran fits through the entrance way of his place. Or that small stone bridge you walk over at the bottom of the Tipani home near the water fall, right in front of where you spawn in the village. You actually fit under there with the ikran. Or the cave right below where Beyda’amo is, you can fly in there and out there in one swoop.
I don't care what people say about the new game, taming your ikran was beautiful. It actually felt like a right of passage. And man, it really scratches that itch to fly around freely as this dragonesque creature/rider.
I do have some fond memories for the 2009 game. Used to play both RDA and Na'vi path multiple times, but I have to admit, the armor and weapons you got as RDA soldier was a little more epic.
@bynxtypebeat I think I had a total of around 500 or 800 hours but thats because I was a kid and really liked this game and with no access to Internet like now , I spent hours trying to find secrets etc like the night time. Suppose now people wouldn't really bother plating it since the missions on maps were very repetitive with a bunch of side quest ish missions thrown in. Just the bioluminence and floating rocks and trying to climb them was fun.

I love the new game it's amazing truly. Looking down and seeing your characters feet move so precisely is just 1 of so many many small details they hid in the game and it truly is wonderful! Especially to avatar fans
i love how with 2009 you play as a sky person who switches to their avatar to save pandora, having to fight for your role on the alien planet.. with 2023 it’s more like you were stolen from your clan, fighting to escape mercer and save both yourself and the planet from rda, but this time you don’t have to fight much with a role as you are already navi. while afop was super magical, i personally loved 2009 and honestly wish it was open world 🤷♀️
Well the old one didn't either, in fact I'd say it did less, more dramatic sure but that's just because of the music, the "try and kill you" scene in frontiers was when your character was in the hollow vines, in the old one your character literally just fell off the cliff and it caught him, bro wasn't tested whatsoever

I remember playing the 2009 avatar as a kid and i STILL thought the riding mechanics were frustrating in that game. I always remembered it being alot more fun than it actually was, maybe because im nostalgic about it. However... I cant deny it; frontiers is definitely better when it comes to flying.
Honestly I thought 2009 was really fun, I managed to download it and played a bunch of hours while I couldnt afford afop. Definitely not MORE fun the n Frontiers, but It's still one of my favourite games
The only people like older ones are the people driven by nostalgia factor. Avatar frontiers of pandora is sooo beautiful and awesome, the only issue i have with it is the repititive missions and monotone story.

Wow, I did not know there was another game before this…. You definitely can tell how they upgraded the animation. Things are a lot easier. I definitely can tell from playing old games versus playing the new reinvented versions of them that you feel more part of the game. I definitely see that with avatars as well.
Oooh Frontiers reminds me of flying your bird in Zelda skyward sword. The 2009 game made flying so tiresome and boring, but I'm really excite for this game

Namely just how well it portrays the scale of the Navi in comparison to the humans and their buildings,etc, like how you have to duck down through their doorways and kneel down when speaking to Human NPCs so you converse eye-to-eye with them. Still, it would be nice if 3rd person option gets added in at some point.
Avatar Frontiers is WORTH the $70 for the game. Im thoroughly enjoying it. The story is good. Theres a lot to do and explore. And the game itself is gorgeous. The map and environment even more so
It is NOT worth $70. I played on performance mode and it looked like ass, with a lot of fps drop, screen tearing, shimmering and ghosting. You can't say a buggy game like this is worth $70
I 100% agree. I've bought and played a lot of games in my life, but THIS one was worth every penny I spent. If I had to spend 100$ on it, I still would. It's so beutiful

I just got the game and love how smooth the platforming is, i was really looking forward to the flying and its certainly not the worst i just wish i could do flips and have a little more control over the ikran (I never played 2009). I also wish you actually got to fight the ikran not just lasso its jaws shut.
The cockpit is too small for a Na'Vi if we were rda just like the old game it was posibble but when here we are just Na'Vi its impossible to fly them being too big for them to enter

Is it possible to play as the human military in this new game? Like fly around in those helicopter things and shoot machine guns at blue people? I was never a big fan of the blue aliens either way, too ooga-booga for my liking

Taming Ikran in FOP was lazy af. The whole journey to get there and then eventually tame it was lackluster and unfulfilling. I legit wanted to stop playing after the disappointment. Flying is fun and all, but the journey to get there... well there was no journey.
