Good goal from McCoist. Back when 2 strikers was the norm instead of this one up front rubbish. Just because one day about 15 or 20 years ago a manager, or 2 decided to just play 1 up front because they were up against a much better team. Then, all the inferior teams started doing it. Then, because it was seen so often even the better teams that don't need to play 1 up front started doing it. Then you got managers that came through the game, seeing it just assumed it's what you do. Instead of using their OWN minds and be unique, they copy what they see others do. Now its the done thing, and nobody wants to use their own mind & and say, im going to play 2 up front and have them form a partnership. It's just the way the games played now i hear you say?... Well, no, im 18 and its actually now becoming the dinosaur way. History & trends do not go on in a straight line but rather are circular. It's time for that to make a comeback. To me its what contributes towards, not the only reason but one of them that makes the game much more boring than it was in this era. Even the commentary is boring today apart from Ally McCoist & Clive Tyldesley. BBC Scotland commentary is AWFUL. Guy sounds like he would be more into rugby at a posh Edinburgh school than football. Interesting Norway top. Looks more like a tracksuit top than a football top. The second the Norwegian goalie was knocked off the ball early on, if that was today the referee blows the whistle straight away. It's ridiculous how OVER refereed today. Goalies are for some odd reason protected. They aren't allowed to be tackled when the balls at their feet, when once it's at their feet they are just like ANY other player and should not have special protection. Or if the balls in the air and its a 50/50 between the player trying to head it and the goalkeeper trying to catch it, the goalie will automatically get the decision. These were never ever in the rules of the sport, and as far as I know, they still aren't in them. However, it's somehow crept into the game & it's just the done thing.
Thanks for posting this...great memories

Did we win against Norway?
We drew 1-1. Should've been a 1-0 win, but you blame Bandy Leighton for that...
