The Irwindale site was a pit or quarry opposite the Miller Beer brewery adjacent to the 210 Freeway. Used to go past it all the time long before the rumors began about the possible move. NEFARIOUS! I also remember around 1986-1987 Davis was supposed to be negotiating a move to Yankee Stadium and rebranding them the Bronx Raiders.
It's funny how perspectives tell the tale. For me I grew up seeing "L.A. Raiders" so when they moved back to Oakland that took some getting used to. The Raiders of course belong to Oakland, but if they couldn't figure it out there they should be in L.A. The whole carousel of teams just doesn't seem to make long-term sense, but then again why would these owners give people what they want?
It was 90 degrees that day (and very humid) and the Falcons thought that by wearing white, and therefore making the Raiders wear black, they'd have an advantage being cooler in the heat. The Dolphins used to love doing that under.Don Shula at home games in Miami...
R.I.P to Len Dawson. He was a real credit to the AFL/NFL as a player and as an analyst.
Len Dawson had a great voice. Loved listening to him with Charlie Jones the most.
I agree, he seemed like a really good guy. I used to really enjoy watching him on inside the nfl when it was on hbo.
Pride of Alliance Oh
20:28 Marcus Allen pass to Cliff Branch. The next play Allen makes a great run and I remember seeing it on the halftime highlights in 1982.
Anybody remember "Irwindale Raiders" it was a brief moment of existence.

@@kidmack3556 The Bronx Raiders? I'll read up on that. Davis would have taken the Raiders to Mexico if you could have.
Cliff Branch walked like he was really fast!
Thanks for posting
In 1982, it was super strange to say "LA Raiders". Now Las Vegas? Wow.
40 years later.

I Love Marcus!
Such a shame this season was cut short by the strike. Would've been some damn impressive stats compiled by Plunkett, Allen & Branch.
Strange the Falcons are wearing white at home but I love these uniforms and any game from 1982.
They did wear white at home a lot around this period, especially early on in the season
Many NFL teams wore white at home in the early 80s. Watch the games posted during this era and you'll see plenty of it.

GUY booting a 65 yarder at the RAIDER 1 yd line 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Where's Merlin Olsen?
@@jamiejohnson4524 Thanks for the clarity.
Len Dawson’s regular partner at that time Charlie Jones was also off that week.
Merlin was filming "Father Murphy"
Wondering why Atlanta is wearing white at home?
Probably because it was early in the season and the humidity in Atlanta was high.
Put the Gold back in the Silver and Black !
???
@@JAWrightonline Al Davis removed the color from the original team colors....
@@SkyLightsUFOs And that was a GOOD thing.
@@JAWrightonline Nope...it will be BETTER.
@@SkyLightsUFOs You're always free to root for the New Orleans Saints or Purdue Biolermakers.
Maybe the raiders need to go back to a 3/4 defense they won all of their super bowls with a 3/4 defense the 4/3 hasn't been successful
