ONE ROD CHALLENGE (Fishing a Swim Jig)

- The one rod challenge is back and this time I'm headed out to the lake with a swim jig tied on. I'm home for a couple of days and really wanted to do the one rod challenge so I picked a lake and headed out. If your new to my channel I do these challenges to show you how you can become good at one technique by only allowing yourself to throw one bait all day. In this video I show you how the process goes and how I finally put it all together and really start to catch them. There is a twist at the end of this video, sorry guys I had to do it!!!!!!

Thank you Mr Todd from Ohio.

Shoulda been called a swim jig challenge. I just got into fishing and this is my go to lure.
Awesome
Thank you
Cool video
Thank you
Sweet channel! It's fast becoming one of my most favorite on all things bass!!!! Keep up the good work!!
Thanks! Will do!
Great to see your excitement when catching them nothing like doing something you love
I still get excited
One-rod challenge? The last time I went, I was proud that I was down to 8 rods! The time before I took 9.
Great video! Can hardly wait for part II! Ive been watching you from the start and wanted to say you have gotten really good at this video production stuff! Appreciate you taking the time and effort to help all of us become better bass Anglers!
Good deal, I’ve tried to get better hopefully I can keep it up.
Thats what I did all summer
Besides a frog
I hear ya its been slow on it but its only going to get better
Good info, and cool little challenge. Thanks for these! I'd like more 1 rod challenges for sure.
You got it!
Good one Todd, I like your idea of the "One-Rod-Challenge" videos. I always learn a lot from your videos, I enjoy them and am looking forward to seeing more technique specific topics from ya. Thanks.
You bet
The one BAIT challenge. Works for me. I like the concept of working at getting better one bait.
Always love doing these but a little scary too.
Wait till I tell Blaukat that you have a bass in a fish tank 😂😂😂😂
The music dub on the big bite was killer!
Great video keep up the great work! This makes me want to fish a swimjig more thank you!
You should!
I think I'm really gonna like this "ONE ROD CHALLENGE" you hinted on a really good point about throwing the right bait at the right time. I'm really interested in hearing your take on what to throw and when to throw it.
Sounds good
Wow. That 80’s synth music when you caught that big one was something else. Took me back to high school.
Yea I threw that in there. LOL
I’m just gonna say that the editing and quality (sound, angles etc. ) are getting really good.
Thank you I’ve been working on it
One rod Todd
Awesome video. Love the sound of that reel when you set the hook. Sounds meaty!!
Oh yeah!
Great video 👍, Good luck this week on Neely Henry. Good chance I will have one of them tied on this week at Neely. Guess that all depends on who I draw out.
I hear ya
Man that brings back memories😢. I've started with bream and rock bass as pets in a 10 gallon tank then move to a 55 gallon. Dude I had a RedDevil fish,I grew from 3" to 2lb with a knot sometimes appear on it head. Fustrated about how I wanted to setup the tank up .He was going to rearrange everything, everytime. He would attack everything that someone hung something over the tank. This time it was my dads friends hand while he was talking on the phone. I hear a loud splash he done knocked the light in the water, everything! He said mane what you got in here! Purinas? No Big RED!
They are fun but some work to keep up
Feeding
Great choice swim jig works well this time of year now to see if you got it to work
Fingers crossed!
Dope tunes while landing that last girl, really set the moment right.
thank you
Awesome video, Brother! Throughout the whole video I was saying, "Throw a FROG!!", but then I would remember the challenge!
Oh no wait till part 2, I could care less about the frog. LOL
There’s been giants caught in there this year. One dude caught a 48lb bag. A lot of double digits this year
Oh yea I’ve caught some giants I usually try and keep it under wraps
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 hell yeah man and we appreciate that very much 🤐 keep pumping out the goods!
Keep going brother, great things!
Thanks, you too!
Great vid Todd can’t wait for part 2.
Coming soon!
Enjoyed it Todd! Can't wait for part 2!!
Coming soon!
Awesome video, can't wait to see how the plan comes together, swim jig fishing can be so fun, once you dial it in on a big bite, look out,fun times
For sure!
Great video. Looking forward to seeing more one two rod challenges.
I plan on doing a bunch this fall
Man the channel is coming along you making some good fun informative stuff. Cant wait for part 2 swim jigging is my thang
Part 2 I crush them
My absolute favorite way to catch em.....even that toad was a bit on the skinny side...not much of a belly. I always wondered what the heck was going on with those skinny fish....if theyre sick...just not eating...over populated etc........nice vid
Yea who knows they started looking better
Gosh dang! That big one was nice! Kinda seemed to me that a lot of those fish had a big front half of their body an small little back half of their body’s, I dunno 🤷🏻♂️ maybe it’s just me. Very nice job Todd, keep it up brother!
Yea they didn't look great
Brother have you ever reeled with your non dominant arm? Just curious as I'm switching over most of my reels now.....especially for jigs, frogs, buzzbait
Heck no, why?
@Todd Castledine Fishing just curious, noticed you switching over after cast to reel with same throwing arm...it seems at least 70% do the same including myself. I'm just starting to alternate - had a topic about this in the group. - cheers!
Another great video Todd!! Keep it up man!!
Thanks! Will do!
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 got a pet bass! 🤣😂🤣😂🤣 that’s awesome
Love the honesty and the energy of your channel Tod. Would love to fish with you one day!
Maybe one day!
Just subscribed, love it! Now this is my kinda fishin channel.
Welcome aboard!
Knocked it out of the park with this one! Ready for part II!!
Its coming
What colors are best for swim jigs?
Love the videos! Keep them coming. Would love to see a round table of you, Brad, Andrew, of some of the craziest experiences y’all have had. Also, a video of the #1 thing you see amateurs doing that is totally wrong!
Kind of like our Bass Anger Therapy
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 billy got a bass should be the therapist 😂
I came back and watched this video again ... Todd what lake was this ?
Lake Nacogdoches
What state you fishing boss? Asking because I’m seeing how different the fishing can be across the US like Florida vs New York.
Texas
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 lucky! Thanks again for all the great educational content for us looking to learn!
Todd,
Great video keep them coming
Thanks, will do!
Will do
Great video! It would be cool if you eventually did one on the Damiki rig and Carolina rig too. Thanks for doing these kind of vids, I'm always looking to learn more so they are great! God bless you and yours!
Great suggestion!
Great video, enjoy watchin! Just watched you guys chillin at the RV Park in Gadsden AL over on Scott's channel, good look at Neely Henry!
Thank you
Great information. It takes a True sportsman to take the time and notice the health of the water and the fish. Hopefully you find an answer. Oh and huge high five 🖐🏻 for being the first human I ever heard of who has an Attack Guard Fish by his door. Lol. Please film Billy feeding Whiskey hahahaha
I'll try for sure
Thats alot of fun! There was a couple of times in the video where I thought, “Wow! Wouldn’t a slow moving buzzbait look pretty coming slowly across the water right now?” Haha! Enjoyed the one rod. Looking forward to somemore!👍🏻👍🏻
You bet!
Really liked the challenge
Thanks
Good stuff Todd!
Thanks!
What a beauty at the end bro! Very nice! Got me wanting to swim a jig more now lol
Go for it!
What do you think when Toledobend is low is it good fishing I never been there when it is low
Its really bad fishing right now it might not get good until the spring
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 thanks man saved me a good three hour drive I like it better in the spring time
I'm new to bass fishing and have been watching Scott Martin's channel, thats where I saw you. It was hard to gauge what kind of guy you are until I started watching your videos. You seem like a dam good guy, but anyways, great video and good music toward the end.
Thanks
I also like the boot tail trailers. When do you decide to use a menace oe craw type trailer and why?
I never throw the menace, sometimes its just trail and error
Will you do a video on your pet bass?? How you got him, what your plans are for him in the future and maybe feed him some chips(crickets) on camera. This is the last time i saw him on video and it would be cool to know about how he came to be your pet and if you plan on getting a bigger tank or building a little pond for him. Bama Bass the angler on youtube has pet bass, he raises them inside in a tank like you then puts them in this small koi fish type pond he built in his back yard, you should check him out, I know you prolly cant build a pond living in that subdivision but still would love to know your plans for him
Man, I been watching you for about 2-3 months now. I have learned more from you than a whole mess of other guys on you tube! The one rod things are great. I been trying to catch them on jigs and swim jigs for a while now. I been using Medium Heavy and now a Heavy rod and I can get a few bites but it seems like I’m not getting good hook sets in them. I pull them up but they get up near the boat and just open their mouth and come off??? Drives me crazy !!!! Should I go buy a swim bait rod???
Brian in South Carolina
The Falcon Cara XH heavy 7'3 is good
Todd tell me what gear ratio your super duty 300 is and the magnetic and center fugal pins how to tune the brakes for long casting I'm going for salt water redfish and heavy swimbaits
Nice 👍🏽
Thanks
Good luck this week in Gadsen. Be awesome to see you in top 12 with Scott and Andrew. Or should I say it would be nice to see you in top 12. I feel like a traitor to Scott right now. Lol. But honestly. It’s your turn.
I appreciate that
I aint fished lake Nacogdoches in awhile..... I think I know where im going this weekend!!
Should be good
Enjoyed it! #freewhiskeysoon! 😂
I might have too
One rod Todd , well 2 technically 😆
Yea I got lazy. LOL
You need to come to Bama and let somebody show you how to shake that thang when you reel it in...good stuff man, love the content.
Yea that whole shaking thing isn't the deal down here
Todd enjoyed the video. I noticed that your casts were a good distance from the bank. Also, you setup is that mono or floro and you seem to. be swimming and then pausing a little. You were also taking about when the bite is on. How do you know if you don't swim jig fish or how do you know your lake has turned on like the? Keep the videos coming please.....It's between you and CPF....I really enjoy ya'lls videos the most.
Fluro, you just have to know about your lakes. It usually gets good when it gets colder.
They are getting juicy I like it brother
This was a fun one for sure
U like the menace as a trailer?
I don’t use it like everyone else
What the brand on the rod grips
Not sure to be honest I got them at tackle warehouse. Id have to look at the packaging when I get home
When do you use shooter verses sniper?
Shooter for dragging things worms jigs even swim jigs. Sniper more for casting baits
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 ok thanks.
He talks like a politician.
OK
i really like your channel, Please do one on using jigs.
Will do
I ALWAYS have a swim jig tied on.
ALWAYS
Nice Video 🐳👍
Thanks ✌
Fish do look skinny. One almost looked like a catfish at a glance...
What size swim jig do you use the most? Awesome video!
1/2 oz most of the time
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 cool thanks man!
Finally bit the bullet and got live scope how much do you end up using it? Love the video's keep them up
Havnt used it yet
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 wondered cause your style of fishing it wouldn’t seem it’s come in to play but fishing the opens I understand having it
Which engine will you go with in the future??
Probably Yamaha
Hey Todd which Falcon rod are you using?
In the description
Is there any reason you throw it on flouro over braid?
Always throw it on floor, braid is just to much and I'm not throwing it over matted grass more scattered grass on the bottom. It just works better and harder to see the line on those clear days
How bad did you want to throw a poppin perch or frog? Also, even later in the day, if you were not doing a one rod challenge, what bait would you throw?
Btw, the videos are great!
I don't know but I like throwing that swim jig so I was all right once they started biting it
Do a one rod one bait at a public pond. We pond anglers need some tips. public ponds kills me every time
I'll try I'll be honest not many public ponds where I live.
It’s okay. Your videos are helpful and informative but as a bank angler fishing ponds we are limited and super pressured. it’s okay though I’ll find a way to catch them bass. Always thankful for a pro fisherman like you to help us beginners out on some good knowledge
Finally got livescope I see.
Yea will see
Good deal. I guess it’s more of a game changer than I expected.
Todd
Seemed like u run reels a little low on line
On purpose or didn’t have time to respool
Need some vs videos
Hybrid vs Redeye
Spinnerbait vs cricket
Swim jig vs swim bait
That’s a 300 I’m actually really bad about overspooling it’s just long casts I make. Look back at when I reel all the way in they are filled up big time
Was that a livescope on the front?
Yes
Is that a garmin u have on the front of your boat now?
Maybe
@@toddcastledinefishing5924 ....is that just gonna be "daddys little secret" or what? Lol. Im just playing. It really is a game changer bud. Keep up all the hard work.
@@mikedaley2882 Yes it is I probably won't ever talk about it
If that big one had a belly on her she would’ve been a real TANK
Yea she would have been.
Ok, what lake is this?
Lake Nac
Todd, you’ve been keeping bass in an aquarium since high school-a true student of the craft. Keep up the good work!
Thanks bud, just like the good ole days
