thank you for the info, so far if I have a thinner fabric I want to use in a rug, I'll rip it in to a wider strip. If the thicker fabric is 2 and a half inches I'll rip the thinner into 1 and a half inches to make for the weight of fabrics. Now I'm now sure how well that will hold in the years to come. But hoping for the best right now. I'm going to try your well on a new rug.

Cut the thicker strip less wide as the thinner one.
