- City leaders in Antioch made it illegal to watch or encourage sideshows as they attempt to crackdown on sideshows in the area.

Ban spectators at an illegal event ?
Imagine San Francisco banning spectators of fentanyl use. The entire city would be in jail.
they did it, they pat themselves on the back for getting soemthing done. now in reality it does nothing

It’s not illegal to promote an event or watch it, illegal or not.. so yes, they created a way to fine these people for exactly that.

Antioch was predominantly white when I left that area in 1982. A little different now. I moved to the east coast in 2003. I don't brag about the west coast anymore.

Knowing that our local Bay Area | California news is observed and watched globally is more embarrassing that leaders in cities across the entire STATE wouldn't ban & make sideshows illegal all together but turn the attention to spectators?!?! This has been going on in Oakland for decades. Hint Theory: The local tire distribution companies, oil changing companies, automotive spare parts & repair shops and Gas companies --all must either love these sideshows; dont know where their kids are at night, have some $take in the game or simply do not care. Money is money right? And public safety means nothing, right? Psssft!
Ban all you want, can’t stop eyes from watching. If you want to do something about it start enforcing existing laws by putting anyone in the event in prison. Even if they’re trapped and stuck having to watch because this will be used as an excuse. Put everyone in the same boat and let them figure it out later.

If you're not pissed off and not outside of your car you are not a spectator. All others are
spectators and/or complicit in the illegal activity. All vehicles should be impounded (spectators
for 30 days, participants for 1 year) with no exceptions. Many of the participants cars are stolen.
Organizers should be charged with felonies for conspiracy. That requires new law(s) on the books.
Why not ban sideshows? Spectators have nothing to watch if you ban sideshows.
They tried that.
Antioch should send in unmarked police cares to video the side shows in progress including vehicles involved with licence plates? Then move in with all white low profile units without light bars on the roof tops them suround then and have the black and whites move in last to impound their vehicles and cite the drivers for wreckless driving and wreckless endangerment. All Police Depts should get about a dozen all white marked cars for the purpose of without being spotted before it’s too late for the subjects to know their presents. Black and Whites stick out like a sore thumb and can be observed for a mile away.
My ex wife moved to Antioch, when I see that traffic on highway 4 and the crime and tweekers...I LOL to myself....

On the bay bridge 1 or 2 weeks ago. Thats right, on the bridge.
It won't be enforced anyway like all the other Bay Area traffic laws like having no license plates, over-tinted windows, etc. so no big deal really. Just more laws for the kids to break and gloat about.
More political show than real deterrence. Even if the spectators are caught and cited by police, is the county DA going to consistently prosecute for a CITY ordinance? They hardly even do anything to the participants.
