Damn she even like Demo Ranch? You better put a lock on that woman because she's freaking awesome!
The British crown encouraged American colonists to own firearms to be able to protect their properties, which were given to them by the crown. They did this because it was the exact opposite of what the Spanish crown did, which ended up with Spanish colonists not being able to hold frontier areas against Native Americans where the Spanish military wasn’t present. The Spanish colonists also did not own the land they were told to expand into. This combination did not allow for expansion and holding of large areas. American gun culture was essentially created and evolved from the British crown’s policy to protect property and encourage expansive colonization of the North American continent. This allowed Britain to require minimal military presence and maximum ability to profit off the natural resources of North America. This gun culture existed from the moment the original British colonists set foot on the East Coast, well before the United States was formed. Without this gun culture, the British-American colony couldn’t have expanded outside of the immediate area where they originally landed around Plymouth, Massachusetts. The gun culture is still used mainly for self defense and defense of property but after the United States was founded and the 2nd Amendment was created, this was expanded to include tyrannical government in a cultural sense.
The Spanish not owning the land was not true. It was the native americans and anyone else who wasnt spanish werent allowed to. Im not am expert but that is what I remembered.
Not really. It was multifaceted. The primary reason was the USA didn’t have a standing army or navy until after the war of 1812.
Actually, the 2nd Amendment was written because of the British attempt, in 1774, to confiscate guns from the people. It's also the reason for the 4th Amendment... prohibiting illegal search and seizure. There's no shortage of historical information that points to the continuous warrantless searches and seizures in 1774, as the triggering mechanism for the Declaration of Independence.
@@FranciscoMartinez-369 The vast majority of land in Spanish colonies were municipal commons, which means it was owned by the local government which ultimately means the crown of Spain. All local governments in colonial Spain were directly answerable to the crown. The tiny minority of private land owners were large estate plantation owners that were part of the extremely wealthy aristocracy/high court.
@@Grigsy It started before there was a USA. The standing army in colonial North America was the British Army. They were stationed in every major city as well as forts in what is now Canada to fight the French and their sympathetic Native American tribes. Where the British Army was not present, colonists were encouraged to own firearms for protection of their properties. Yes, it became more multifaceted during the Revolutionary War and after the United States was founded but the origins were the British crown’s policy towards property protection with firearms in all of their colonies by British colonists. Not only in North America, but all over the world. Countries that were former British colonies that still have a largely Anglo-Saxon population, like South Africa for example, also have a gun culture with relatively (compared to former colony countries that lost their Anglo-Saxon population like India) non-strict gun laws.
The "two legged game" gets me every time.
The Russian Mosin Nagant was everywhere about 12 years ago so you could pick one up for $99. Ammo for it was extremely cheap too. If I remember right it was about $120 for 1000 rounds. I never bought one and I'm kicking myself for it now.
Saw a crate in a local shop about that time for $125 a piece and thought the same.
They used to import SKS's at the same rate. Wish I'd picked up a dozen of them at $99 each.
I bought one and was forced to sell it. I want it back!
RIP Barry! ❤ Great video Dave & Ash!
RIP Barry. As a red blooded american I 100% agree with this video. For a large portion of this country these guns are just the starter pack. Many americans have these by age 21 or sooner. Me personally had a bb gun at age 5, ruger 10/22 at age 8, 12 gauge pump at age 12, .270 deer rifle at age 15, a AR15 at age 18, and a glock 22 when is turned 21.
Good for you
Wish I had the money to even afford the starter pack plus ammo in this economy. Being 21 and all
Lol
I’m an American with red blood, and guns give me the heebie jeebies. My weapon of choice is charm.
I bought my nephew a little marlin .22 that he’s about to get for his 9th birthday in a few weeks. His mom and my brother (dad) freaked out when I bought him a case knife for his 5th birthday. I’ll prolly have to keep it except when I take him out to shoot it but it’ll be his whenever his parents allow him to keep it. By then he’ll prolly have an AR and Shotgun from Uncle Trey
I'm American and don't own a gun because I live in California where it's easier to get one illegally then legally. The stricter gun laws in the belief of it will reduce crime is so backwards due to the fact that there are more guns then people in America already. Therefore restricting citizens to protect themselves legally when criminals are going to get guns regardless makes us vulnerable. Criminals prey on the weak. We can't go back in time and get rid of guns but if everyone has one it will cause criminals to think twice before robbing you with one.
Your first mistake is living in commyfornia. You second mistake is allowing gavin newsom to stay in office as a dicktator
Love how enthusiastic you both are for your hobbies and interests! It's awesome you can both share experiences with them and geek out about it!
I met Barry once coming back from a hike on the Appalachian Trail. I stopped into Moss Pawn Shop where he worked and bought some bullets for reloading. He talked with me for about 30 minutes. He was a very nice man and easy to talk to.
I was into firearms at a very young age. As soon as I turned 18 I was buying and building guns. I now work for a large AR-15 manufacturer. We also make AR-10's, bolt guns, and suppressors. I love working there. Its 15 minutes from my house and I get 50% off all the guns and parts we make. They have a shop in the building for us that's open a few days a week with all of our merch, guns, and parts in it. They let us buy discontinued suppressors for $250 last year.
In Wisconsin deer hunting license for adult resident is $24.00, non-resident (international or out of state) is $200.00
Over 788,000 deer licenses sold for last season, WI population is 5,950,000 so 1 in 7.5
Did you forget to subtract the out of state issued licenses?
The Demo preview was the best part Lol.
I miss watching Barry, rest his soul, he was a one of a kind character, missed by many. Interesting video, thanks.

The Mosin Nagants have gone up in price , but they're still pretty cheap . You can get kits for around $100 bucks and bring it into the 20th century ! The 7.62 - 54 mm is a good hunting round . It' s around the size of a 7.62 + 51 mm. a 308 and a 30-06 . The 7.62 - 54 mm or 308 was my lady while in the Marines in the early 80's . I was stationed in Beirut in 1983 , When our barracks and the French barracks were trucked bombed . Not a good day , 220 Marines and 58 French Paratroopers died that day ! My M-60 , 7.62+ 51 mm or 308 , whichever you want to use is a belt fed machine gun , that is capable of firing 550 to 650 RPM's ,, rounds per minute ! She was a spicy lady , but she was also a little heavy at 23 lbs . Me being 19 at that time and having her with me , made me feel invincible !!
Excited to see you two react to some Matt @ Demoranch. 🙂 Kentucky Ballistics is another awesome GunTuber.
I love old military surplus rifles. They are functional weapons but they carry a history that makes them more than just a tool. It could be a rifle used during the US Civil War, a musket used by the British in the American Revolution or even a Roman sword. The men and clothing disappear but the tools of war have a longer life and connect us with history more than just a picture in a book.
As far as I'm concerned, you guys can do all the gun videos you like. 😁
When I saw the thumbnail on this video, I was really curious to see where you guys stood on firearms. One never knows with someone from a not so firearm friendly country, but I must admit I was impressed.
I'm a big gun guy here in the US, and they're just a part of our culture. You should come on out and have some fun with a wide variety of firearms.
Just be sure to go to a free red state, and avoid the Nazi occupied blue ones with massive gun restrictions. Idaho would be a good starting point. 👍
Living in rural America guns are part of everyday life and culture and arent seen as taboo like they are in other places.
A shotgun is all I have never had to use it for self defense so that’s good
We all miss Barry, RIP man.
Ain't nothing scarier than hearing a 12 gauge pump rack a shell in the dark when you're up to no good, haha, I've experienced it, basically every American knows to stop what they're doing when they hear it, dollar for dollar a shotgun is the best gun you can get and a gun everyone should own, very low price, loads for everything, and scary as hell if need be
at 8 years old i could shoot bullseye target shooting with 22 woodsman allways been around guns great reaction guys ty
I grew up in a military family who were also members of the NRA and had guns, knifes and rifles. I never really was interested in it myself even though I also inherited some of these weapons. Both siblings are registered gun owners, I think saving lives was my interest.
@@lilyz2156So you associate guns with taking lives? Most ignorant people do. Don't worry I'm sure a gun owner will protect you if you're ever in need😂❤😂
As a child, tennis star Andy Murray was at Dunblane when the shooting happened; he hid under a desk
It's hard to have just one gun. I got a carry gun, then a house gun, then a target gun, then range guns of different calibers, then a shotgun, .22 rifle & I decided 19 guns is enough for now. Good fun. I'm at the range every week & got my license to carry 11 years ago. Tried to get my wife interested, didn't happen but she does know how to shoot now if it hits the fan when I'm away.
Her smile and facial expressions are infectious.
Y’all need to move to Tennessee! Very few restrictions and constitutional carry.
Great video. Thank you. If you ever visit Florida, let me know. I spend a lot of time at the range. I'm a former US Army Special Forces Weapons specialist. And I'm an NRA instructor for pistol shooting. Just glad to see you both enjoying it.

"If you want to arm a number of people" I love this country!
I do wanna point out this video is like 12 years old, this store was 30 mins from my house. The old man has passed away years ago.
This is the reason any country thinking of invading America needs to worry more than just about the military. For ever blade of grass there’s an American with a gun or even more.
yep...........
Way more reasons than just that. We’re extraordinarily blessed geographically, for starters.
The 2nd Amendment to the Constitution wouldn't allow the US government to outright ban handguns.
Yall need to go to shotshow next year in Vegas
Mossberg also makes an 835 that's practically the same as the 500 but is chambered to take 3-1/2" loads which have increased in popularity once the US outlawed lead shot for waterfowl and went to steel. I have both. They're not the most expensive or nicest gun. But of all the 12ga guns' I've used, I've liked the Mossberg's the best.
Y'all should check out . Kentucky Ballasts. My 50 cal exploded.
Difference between subjects and citizens.
Firearms ownership was clearly defined in Federalist 46, written by James Madison. In it, Madison declares the People the militia, and the reason for arms was for the People to have the means to change their government, should it become necessary.
The irony of UK folk being anti-2A is that there was a time (around the American revolution no less) when it was LAW for every Brit to own a weapon. Pick up a copy of "To Keep and Bear Arms " by Joy Lee Malcom, Professor of Constitutional Law and the Second Amendment at George Mason University School of Law. She has been called "the leading historian on the history of English gun control and gun rights". Its enlightening reading...
Slide bite is part of learning how to shoot a pistol.
The government was looking for a reliable man-stopper to replace the wimpy 38 caliber pistols that were in service that’s why a .45 came about. Th 50 caliber machine gun is from a 1919 design
When this video came out you CAN arm 10-12 people w/ Mosin Nagants w/ ammo for around $2000..... not any more (got expensive)
You guys would love Demolition Ranch, Kentucky Ballistics, Brandon Herrera, Garand Thumb, and Administrative Results.
RIP Barry.
The funny thing is, you ask 100 Americans what their top 5 are and you get 100 different answers and none are wrong. While the guys choices are not my choices, they're not bad.
There is roughly one gun for every one American on average in this country, so do the math. If a lot of Americans have 5 guns, way more have none at all.
Check out Dragan man. He's got the best museum in America. From WW1 2 Civil everything!
I had a Mossberg 500, was never a big fan of it. I much prefer my Remington 870 Express-Magnum 12 ga.
I always preferred the 1100 semi auto. Beretta makes some of the best shotguns you can own.
5,6,7,8 year olds are kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade in the US of course some may vary because it depends on the month you’re born so you could be a 4 year old kindergartener or a 9 year old 3rd grader. Btw I’m so happy to be in country where the 2nd amendment is but not only that I live in Tennessee which means if I’m legally able to own a hand gun I can carry it on my waist, open or concealed, it’s called constitutional carry that a lot of states have passed. Or a lot of the good states. GOD BLESS AMERICA! 🇺🇸
Barry is indeed no longer with us. He passed away years ago.
Brother in law Dad has about 100+ guns.
And we all want death metal OBD, and yes, gun Jesus is the man. All hail Elbonia and gun Jesus.
Also love her excitement for demo ranch. Yeah, you two need to move to America, based on that…she’d be I be in heaven. Haha, wel you horn would be.
It's elementary school in the US. Grades K through 5th or 6th grade.
You guys should find a way to shoot a mossberg shockwave
I disagree. First should be a .22 of some kind. 2nd should be a shotgun of some type. 3rd , a center fire rifle. Then start specializing with a carry piece and specific home defense piece.
And sounds like you two need to move to the US, as dependent on the state, can own almost anything, and can own everything including artillery if you don’t mind some paperwork and some extra cost, $200 usd per tax stamp.
Elementary school here in the US
Keep America in your prayers. We fight constantly and can never let our guard down. We fight to protect our Constitutional Republic. People in need keep referring to us as a democracy, democracy does not work yet they are reprogramming people to think we are that, some don’t even know what the proper name for our government is and they encourage that.
THIS 👆 🙌
Check out some Demolition Ranch!!
Two legged game is obviously a kangaroo.
If handguns are banned, did they allow those already in citizens possession to remain so, or did the government require one to turn it in. I can just imagine the US government telling citizens they must give up their handguns.
Ian (gun Jesus) is awesome!
American schools used to be a lot safer back when guns were allowed on campus.

And shit. I grew up in the US. Where you could smoke in restaurants, let alone gun laws, which there should be none.
Wouldn’t no gun laws be wildly unconstitutional, what with the “well regulated” bit in the 2nd amendment and all, not to mention psychotically insane as well?
@@Kaddywompous nope, it wouldn’t be, the only reason it’d be considered insane these days is how poorly people are raised. And coddled. Don’t have to face consequences for actions, back in the day. You tried what people do now, aka shooting up innocents, you’d be gunned down on the spot. Guaranteed, and see you misinterpreted the well regulated, that’s not talking about individuals, that’s referring to it’s needed to the nation, to maintain a well regulated militia to defend the US, we didn’t have a standing army then. The only two standing military branches back then. Were the constitutional navy and the constitutional Marine Corps. That’s it. Period, no standing army, our army would be called up of well regulated, which in actual English, which our founding fathers used and knew, meant well trained and well kept. In working order. Not laws. Regulated doesn’t mean to make a thousand bullshit laws. You have been mislead, or taught that it does, out of ignorance by those who taught you. It was legal to own cannons, dynamite. Machine guns, etc. exact Military weapons, and explosives until recent history, it was legal to own full up anything you wanted until the 1930’s basically, no back ground checks, no nothing. Guess how many mass shootings we had. Zero that targeted civilians, by civilians up that point. Yeah, none, then the government got involved, and as happens anytime they do. Besides war. It goes to shit, in a hurry. Before that, the only mass shootings that happened in the US was the government slaughtering its own citizens, native Americans, we were here first were and are true Americans we lived here when some Europeans still thought the world was flat, or couldn’t do the math to realize how big and far away China was by going west. Or they killed miners on strike. Trying to get better conditions, and the US government mowed them down with machine guns. When they fought for their god given and constitutionally acknowledged rights, or they fought and killed Mormons. Cause the government thought religious freedom only applied to Christians. They still actively genocide and prevent most natives from learning their culture and history.
People these days are poorly raised…so let’s give them all access to any killing machines they want! First of all, the “well-regulated militia bit”: yes, everything you said there is historically accurate. The purpose was to obviate the need for a standing army, which makes the amendment anachronistic in a time when standing armies are long established and militias are a distant memory. Nevertheless, the Supreme Court has long interpreted the amendment to mean citizens have the right to bear arms, which is fine by me. They have also long interpreted “well regulated” to mean that governments have the right to regulate the sale and ownership of guns. This is why “no gun laws” would be wildly unconstitutional, and is something no supreme court in history has ever argued for. Even in the context of a militia, I’m genuinely confused as to why you think that would mean citizens could have any arm they wanted. Does it work that way in the military? Of course not. You have to be trained and vetted for any weapon you use. You also must be of sound mind and not be a convicted felon. Why wouldn’t the same apply to citizens armed to muster for a militia (ostensibly)? Lastly, yes, there were fewer guns laws and far fewer mass shootings pre-1930s. There were also vastly fewer weapons available that could be used for such a purpose. This began to change in the 20s. Do you think it’s a coincidence that laws began to change too? This was on the heels of bootlegging gangs mowing people down on the streets with newly available machine guns. What would you expect?

I personally disagree with the choice of the Mosin. 7.62x54 is Russian caliber which is not as easy to get as other calibers that will do the same job (particularly 308 which is EVERYWHERE). and I personally wouldn't trust an old Mosin like that. I don't even think the crates are available anymore (quick google search)
I mean, if you're looking for a cheap bolt action rifle in a full power rifle cartridge, why would you try to buy a Mosin when you can get a ruger american in 308? Relatively cheap rifle, consistent quality, ubiquitous ammo...I mean, why?
Also, I personally think every American should own a Heritage Rough Rider. Its price/quality/fun/usefulness ratio is unparalleled.
