- Gday guys, thanks for tuning in again. Today's vid is a bit late due to some lockdown stuff that you'll hear more about next week :)
For about 12 months we've had constant dramas with the gearbox in Dwayne Johnsend, the big 105 series Landcruiser. We finally bit the bullet and bought a rebuilt, strengthened R151 and Exedy tuff clutch, and dropped it into the cruiser over a few late nights.
As always, thanks for watching, hope you enjoy the videos. See you next week!

Man you made that look easy. I've struggled 3 nights in a row to get mine out
Have you thought of putting the h151 gearbox in it
The missus able to pull a gearbox out of a Landcruiser - priceless!
Good on ya 👍 hope you gave her a pat on the back ⭐️😁⭐️
The little comment above the pov pack shifter housing is sooo helpful man. In the US there is no info about these and it’s making my FTE swap a nightmare.
The brackets that mount up to the rear of the engine. Does removing them make it easier to drop the box? Thanks 👍🏻
I’ve got a POV pack 105 had the same issue with the gearbox and went with an exchange box from 360 gearboxes in Melb. They call it a tow pack box but basically the same as what you’ve got. Bit more $$$ delivered here to sunny Qld.
How’s the 360 gearbox holding up? I’m seriously thinking about ordering one tomorrow for my 105
@@josephg8924 yeah really good. Only done about 40k since installing due to work and Covid. Had it out last week because I thought an input bearing had gone but turned out to be rear diff pinion gear. Gearbox and t-case were dismantled and inspected, my mechanic says it was still in new condition. Happy with the box and service from 360.
Hey mate, thanks for the video, do you know if this process is similar to a removal of an 1993 manual 80 series? Ive never removed one before so just looking for a bit of a guide to get to my rear main seal! Thanks again
Great video mate!
May I Ask how did you access the 2 top bolts? Of the bell housing
Good work
Did you get the torque settings from the Hayne manual or the gearbox guy?
Great work and thanks for going to the effort of sharing.
Went off the torque specs in the Haynes manual mate 👌
stuffing it full of bread works better
for getting spigot out
My H150f seems to make very high revs.
Example 2800rpm doing 110kph in 5th gear on flat road etc.
2500rpm doing 100kph in 5th gear.
80kph in 4th gear is 2300rpm.
Always seemed too high. Fuel use is one litre per 6.5km on average.
Can't find any comparison figures on the entire internet.
It's the standard 1hz 4.2 diesel.
Can't understand why there are no rev/gear/speed comparison charts for the various gearbox options, or explanations for the variance pros or cons etc. Just thought I would put some figures out there.
Tyres are Kumho LT 285/75/R16, running at 52-5psi. Steel bullbar, alloy rack.
Stock spare wheel underneath.
Motor seems good, no smoke or oil use, but gutless. Top speed pretty much 120kph.
🚙+ 👰🏼♀️= ✨🏎
I destroyed my mates 1st gear in his r151. Wasn’t even pushing it. Unfortunately they are just super weak😢
Yeah they’re not the strongest box, H box swap is the best option but pretty expensive and if you’re buying second hand you can get burnt there too
What’s that bullbar called?
It’s a tjm steel bar that’s been on the car since new, I’m not sure they make it anymore but there’s heaps around secondhand
