Everything started out great. Beautiful skies, full tank of gas, high spirits. But the Road to Hana somehow became the Road to Hell in today's video!
We started our journey leaving Kaanapali in the morning and heading around the south side of the island, attempting to attack the Road to Hana backwards to avoid traffic and see all the planned sights. It is well known that portions of the road on the south end are rough and fairly unfinished. The Harley-Davidson Street Glide handled it all like a champ and we pushed through to the bamboo forest and Waimoku Falls. After a hike to see the towering bamboo and waterfalls, the rain began...and never stopped. We mounted back up on the Harley and made our way past Hana and looped around the north side of the island. The rain was relentless and never gave way, so we soldiered on, hoping to outrun it and enjoy the coastline. It never did.

You had me on the edge of my seat from those epic opening shots of the Street Glide & music choice) to the ride in the sun/rain, dodging potholes and a random cow munching grass alongside the road, the twists/turns, ocean shots, massive banyan tree with Bingham Monkeys (lol), the gorgeous bamboo forest with a Howling Hazy, the wide knuckle rain ride, waterfalls, trembling from the cold (been there), to the wise word about staying back when following a motorcycle, and sweet Chelle trumpeting Daniel's riding skills. Whew, what did I forget?? 😳 Epic isn't enough - I see more collaboration with you two and Harley Davidson in the future and can not wait!!! TY both for that wild and beautiful ride!

I cried on our return back from Road to Hana because of the road and all the sharp turns, and we were in a car lol. Couldn’t imagine being on a motorcycle, pouring rain and in the dark doing that drive. Glad you guys made it back safely!

Dan & Chell thank you for doing what you do, you have proved and shown what a Harley Davidson can do. It is a motorcycle that can handle any road surface. Dan, you did look like you were an expert. I just hope & pray you both don't get a cold from it. I think that ride would have had Mana Bingham worried. It's an experience you will never forget.

It was such a beautiful scenery riding out there. You got the best footage you could and it was amazing. Your safety on the motorcycle is more important than anything and that is very understandable. Love this!! My mom lives in Maui and I think she has only did road to Hana once and I went a visited and we decided to not do road to Hana. You two are brave doing that on motorcycle. I did realize it's easy to speed there since the limit is at like 50. My mom says this is the time that it rains alot there. The road by her house usually floods alot during this time.
Oh wow! Yeah, definitely a long road, but had to do it with the Harley!

back in 1977 the only way to go to Hana was to go north east road, the road south west from Hana was not even built at that time. I do remember the winding roads and in some parts it was deep curves. it was only about 60 miles I think but it took us 3 hours to get there. It was beautiful though.

Amazing video
Taking my first trip ever to Maui next week. Decided a few days ago that I reeaaally wanted to rent a scooter at least… then it evolved into renting a Harley (I’ve been riding many years and used to work at San Jose HD in California). Then I started thinking about the rain and worrying if I should. Then I found your vid and, seeing as it couldn’t possibly get any worse than it did for you guys and was still doable, I think I’m gonna have to now! I just can’t decide between the Street Glide or the Pan America. I’ll just be 1-up on this ride and with the rough roads I’m thinking the Pan America makes more sense. Next time I’ll be bringing my wife and we’ll do 2-up on the FLHX.

It’s scaring me that you guys aren’t wearing protective gear! Hubby crashed at 20-30 mph in full gear except shoes and he lost the skin on his ankle please be safe!
Helmets are protective gear..its way to hot for Leather..

Dan & Chelle I used to have an '08 MINI Cooper and took it out the track a few times for club events. You are told when out on the track look to the direction you want to go, now on a motorcycle I'm not sure that saying still applies...or does it??
